Nothing has changed since the original stream was posted. The more you listen to it, the more accustomed you will be to the fake voice. It will start to sound "normal" to you.

Yep...agreed Tony..

That's a good question...a question that I cannot comprehend, because, it almost feels as if they wanted us to catch what they were doing...It's not like it was done in some sort of secretive manner, heck another question is why did they decide to Preview this very questionable song above all others? I do hope there is no intention by Sony to harm the sales of this album...I hope this is just a stupid mistake on their part.

That's the big mystery, I can only see 2 possibilities.

1. Sony were misled, like the track, or more accurately the subject matter & thought it would generate excitement.

2. They know it's fake & in the old MJ tradition thought controversy was the best way to launch the campaign.

The new version sounds better to me too. And more like MJ.

There is no new version.....your brains are playing tricks on you.

To your second subject I would say that there is no controversy, The Media is only focusing on the Family, who are against these tracks, not the fans, when I think that most of the fans do not support them. I think we will have to find the way to make more noise, but we will have to wait to see what will happen first.

Sony is tricky bug.

Yep I think this new version is alot better...however the begining of the song still doesn't sound like MJ!! but this is alot better!!

So, to me the percussion seems more out front in the mix on the chorus. You don't hear that?

Even a lot of people who think that Michael is singing the verses of BN admit that it doesn't sound like his other songs and many had doubts at first. I think the song should be left off the album. Why put songs on the album that make people unsure if it is really Michael singing?

I don't think so.

Well if your brain is playing tricks on you then you wouldnt know it.

Personally I think over analyzing it doesnt help and people should go with there gut instincts when first hearing it.

US Radio Airplay: Breaking News Gets Mixed Reviews

“Breaking News,” a preview track from Michael Jackson’s forthcoming album “Michael,” received instant airplay on more than 150 radio stations on Monday, November 8, following its premiere on Jackson’s website.

According to industry tracker Nielsen, 151 U.S. stations sampled “Breaking News” yesterday on formats ranging from pop and R&B/hip-hop to adult, rock and oldies. The song received 246 plays in its first day of availability and reached an estimated 2.2 million listeners.

Taxi Productions-owned Adult R&B panelist KJLH/Los Angeles played “Breaking News” once yesterday. “Listener reaction was very mixed,” said program director Terri Thomas. “Going forward, I don’t think that the song is a hit. I think it’s a novelty.

Inner City Adult R&B reporter WBLS/New York likewise played “Breaking News” one time yesterday, lifting the audio from Jackson’s site. “Our midday host, Egypt, played the song for listeners and was immediately flooded with calls and texts giving a mixed reaction,” said program director Skip Dillard.

“WBLS listeners overall seemed to think that ‘Breaking News’ sounds ‘unfinished’ and is not a representation of the level of perfection that Michael sought in his music. Many listeners who responded asked to hear other tracks and said that they’ll be interested to hear what else is on the upcoming album.”

Both program directors cited the widespread speculation that the track’s vocals may not be Jackson’s throughout. As previously reported, Sony Music Group said that it has “complete confidence in the results of our extensive research, as well as the accounts of those who were in the studio with Michael, that the vocals on the new album are his own.”

“Many listeners questioned whether it really is Jackson on the whole song,” said Thomas.

“I had to listen a few times to make sure it was Jackson all the way through,” said Dillard. “I could hear his voice but, at times, it sounded as if other voices were used to complete the track.”

now with this new version it is more clear it is Michael. it does have some backing vocals that overshadow his voice,but... gosh... hate to say it, but ... I am loving the song right now. I just missed Michael so much.

It's more logical to assume that a new mix has been added, than many people are hearing things. Is it not?

Its just that it dips in and out of high quality when your listening to it.

If you watch it, you'll actually see the picture in the background decrease in quality as well, then switch back to high quality. Its been doing that since Monday.

After the past 4 days I no longer believe in logic.

Are you saying your opinion cannot be changed because of your initial instinct, even when there would indeed be another, way more convincing version of BN, like some of us think is streaming on MJ.com right now? That would be quite sad, because you could be discarding MJ's work.

But I have to wonder either way, why did Sony put us through this mess with so much uncertainty surrounding this track? This - not being MJ on the track yes or no, because I think he is - is the real mystery to me.

I can't believe I'm part of adding salt to all this, I'm actually feeling ashamed that I'm being this stubborn.. anyways, I promise everyone here that I will shoot a video with my DVcam when I'll re-record (once again) the claimed "new version" and I'll shoot when I create an acapella of a random song with the instrumental and orginial, just to explain the method - then I'll mix the "new" Breaking News with the one from this monday.. If it turns out to be silent on film then there is no "new" version...

Edit: This is not an argument wheter it is MJ on the track or not, just proof that there is no "new" version...

Just listened again after a couple of days away. That's not Michael Jackson - no way. It sounds more like Peter Andre.

I've never doubted anything before, even 2000 Watts etc. But after 30 years of listening to his music, I do not believe this is him.

What I don't understand is why anyone would think this would be believed & accepted.

YES! It has that special Peter Andre averageness!

Is that a fact?

I am not a liar. The quality sounds better than it did on Monday.
it really does the vocal soundrepaired if you get my meaning you can still hear other dude but mjs vocals have been turned up

Re: US Radio Airplay: Breaking News Gets Mixed Reviews

Its a bad sign when you have the general public questioning whether its Michael's vocals. That says a lot right there.

there is a new version. and it is on the site. come on people, now , we should be happy that we won the battle. you may not like the song, but this IS Michael's voice we are hearing now.

I'm not sure I get all this technical talk, but I'm curious for the results anyway. But wasn't it the same thing someone showed me a few pages ago?

Is that a fact?

Yes, I promise I'll do this in the morning. It's almost 12 PM in sweden now.. I'll do this tommorow, I give my word on this. A video will be posted on youtube and linked over here..

yep, you're right. I've said the same thing some posts ago.

I've downloaded both versions directly from brightcove and they are two different versions. No artwork's fading in/out or quality going up/down during the video at all.

I've listened to it about 50 times since, trying to convince myself that it's MJ. It hasnt worked.

The only person that could ever convince me that this is Michael singing on this song is MJ himself.

Or they showed me a video of MJ singing it.

If there's a new version it's still as crap as ever. Can't wait to hear the other 0.7 % Michael Jackson 'Michael Jackson' songs.
