Re: "Breaking News" General Discussion Here
I am leaning strongly towards thinking we've got a fake track. I've read all your arguments, including the one where voice changes with age. I am tempted to say that it isn't quite true. It changes very little, from what I have observed. Take, for example, Tom Lehrer, someone who sings live (and therefore his voice cannot be manipulated.) There is very little difference between his 1967 performance in Oslo, and his later performances in 1998, despite a 31 year difference. The only notable difference is that he needs to take more breathing breaks, but his voice is practically the same.
If this is so, then, why would Michael's voice be drastically different in this song? Michael has a very distinctive voice, despite his experimentation, and it always shines through in all of his true material, from Thriller to Invincible, and everything in between, you can always tell it's Michael Jackson.
With this new song...I tried giving it a chance, but the truth of the matter is, especially at the beginning, it sounds nothing like him. If anything, whoever's singing sounds flat. The voice is lacking the vibrant qualities Michael's voice had, it's difficult to describe, but I am sure you all know what I mean. Michael's voice was unique--there was no mistaking him with anyone else, which is why this track sounds so off. Or maybe I'm just imagining things....
I honestly don't know what to say. I am so confused, but my gut tells me that this isn't 100% Michael Jackson. Not at all. Your arguments support that hypothesis more and more. If we are right, how could Sony do this? They're worse than I thought, if true.
