Bmi Urban Awards... mike didnt appear

How could anyone believe Michael owes his brothers $800,000. All these Michael Jackson in debt stories are out of control, and stupid. Remember a lot of Michael's family live at the Encino mansion that Michael still owns 100%, so I doubt it would be Michael owing his brothers money !

Dude, you would be surpirsed. I do not think that the rumor is true but you never know. People, or rather, folks likes to forget that MJ did a lot for his family. More that I think anyone would ever do for their family. So, I really do not like it when some people on here feel that it looked bad that MJ did not show up. If people understood the dynamics, then they would probably understand why MJ didn't go. Like I stated, it was not a requirement for MJ to come and he never confirmed that he was coming. Yes, the media and avid MJ watchers, mostly haters, are going to comment as too why MJ did not show up to this event. The media act like MJ was supposed to be there and really he was not. I wonder why the biggest mouthpiece of the family, Jermaine, did not come. Let's examined that.

Marlon said Michael went to KFC and decided not to come, LOL. That's the great Jackson family sense of humor, people forget how Michael's brothers have a good lighthearted sense of humor. I think what Marlon said was cool and obviously just a light heated joke

LOL. Yeah, if only that joke was really what Marlon said. Actually, Marlon never said anything about KFC. I said that Marlon should have said that MJ went to KFC and decided not to come. LOL. Sorry if I confused you. Marlon, supposedly and maybe he was indeed, joking, said that MJ could be at Egypt riding a camel. Now, thinking about it, it is kinda funny. Ok, maybe I should let that Marlon comment slide. Still trying to figure out why Jermaine didn't come. Like my local radio dj said, (paraphasing) "I can understand why MJ did not come, but Jermaine? What do he be doing?" LOL.

It is Jermaine who is in Egypt. Marlon got it all mixed up. Michael is in the studio doing the final touches on the upcoming album.

I think it´s kind of sad that people turn a positive thing into something negative because it should be a positive thing that the Jacksons/Jackson 5 won this award. Who knows why Michael and Jermaine didn´t come but I hope the other brothers had a good time and again my congratulations.

Eddie Murphy, Remember the time?:D

ooooooooooooooohhhhhhhh, silly me. Of course :D

That's all that matters, lol. I've never seen this directed at members of the Supremes or even Van Halen!

I totally agree with you.

And like I said before, if MJ did go to this event "some" folks would have turned the discussion into not liking his outfit or his hair or his sunglasses. So in my opinion, whether he went or not, this conversation would have turned negative anyway, because it ALWAYS does.

I was at the BMI Urban Awards 2008! (yes Michael wasn't there)

Just want to apologize for the pics!... No one can take their cameras inside...security took everyones cameras:eek:...SO i had to deal wit my phone...the pictures are bad.. i have some videos.. but they're really bad too!...:(

JANET WAS THERE!

Last night was a long story...I'll just keep it short and sweet...

Me and my friend went there from school at like 5:30 pm... Supposedly the show will start at 6:30pm...So were like standing there across the street smokin..and there's just security ppl... then like at around 6:45.. a lady stood beside us to also smoke...so we made small talk...

Then she asked us if we were attending... We said "no, we hav no tickets"
and she was like " Oh they're giving out free tickets on the other side"
and we were like.."Oh ****!.. R u serious! we were like lets go!"
so we got in line...and the funniest thing was everyone was like all dressed up...in booty dresses and cocktail dresses...and we were like in jeans and a t-shirt...:toofunny: I swear we looked like garbage cans compare to the other ppl...

OK!... we got tickets! YAY!:tease:...Inside they were giving out free drinks...Soulja Boy and Ray J and some other people did a pre-show...

The whole Jackson Family were at the middle front row!
Starting from the left: Joe Jackson, Katherine, Randy, Tito,Marlon, and Jackie... and I think Latoya and Debbie were also on the same row...AND YES! MICHAEL WAS NOT THERE!!! BOY I WAS HOPING SO MUCH THAT HE WOULD DO A SURPRISE THING!

Even though we were at the balcony..the theatre was not that big..so we can see pretty close..they gave out a bunch of awards to other artists in the beginning..and then did the tribute to the Jackson 5!

The president did the whole speech bout their life story.. and showed a video!... then a bunch of performers did a tribute:

Here's the line up:

Jojo and Lloyd - sang" I'll be there" (wow, they actually did a really good job"):cheeky:
Mario (guy from Dancing wit the stars)- sang "Heartbreak Hotel"
Keri Hilson- sang " who's loving you"
Mario, Ray j and Lloyd- sang a Jackson 5 medley...

Then... when the president was about to give out the awards... JANET CAME OUT!.. :D:bugeyed Whoo!...lol.. and she said the sweetest things about her brothers.... she got really emotional.. I got teary eyed too!

All the brothers came up!...and there was no Michael!....sigh... ppl were shouting!! "WHERE"S MICHEAL!!! WHERE'S MICHAEL!!" ::clapping:
the brothers... Thanked their parents and some other people... They mentioned Michael barely...they didnt mention why Michael was not there though....hmmm:innocent:.. so yeah...then the whole family just took pictures on stage!:)

T-pain closed the show wit 2 songs..

That was so lucky that you met up with that woman and where then able to get ticket's. Thanks for your story.
I didn't think Michael would be there but wouldn't it have been wonderful if he had just turned up spur-of-the-minute, as a surprise for his family. Still, he has his reasons for not being there and I respect that.

The Jackson family – missing their most famous member, Michael, as well as Jermaine – made a rare group appearance Thursday night to pick up a prestigious music-industry award.

As parents Katherine and Joseph Jackson smiled and applauded all during the show, Janet Jackson introduced brothers Tito, Randy, Jackie and Marlon as they received their Icon award at the 8th Annual BMI Urban Awards – and at one point, being overcome with emotion, had to pause to regain her composure.

"Family is the most important commodity that all of us have," she said after taking the stage as Ray J, Bobby Valentino, Mario, and Lloyd sang "Never Can Say Goodbye."

"I am so proud to be able to salute my brothers," she said.

As she called off the names of each, the Jackson sister, 42, said, "I salute you for your talent and your musical gifts you've given the world. I tell you that every time we speak. I'm so excited to salute you!"

Once on stage, Randy, 46, recalled the heady days when the Jacksons' reigned over the music charts.

"We were just having fun," he said. "I remember doing my first performance, and my mom made me come home and wash dishes afterwards. I'll never forget that."

While Michael didn't make it to the event, his brothers offered their support for him and his upcoming album. "We haven't heard it, but we've heard about it," Randy told reporters. "It's going to be great."
