You think at one point that you've seen all of the saddest and most pathetic things of the world... and then out of nowhere you see Jermaine running up to you and screaming out "No no no, your wrong, I can be more pathetic than anything you've ever seen, please let me show you!!" ...All I have to say is well done Jermaine you've done it again, you truly are the saddest man alive! After listening to Michael's version for my whole life, it's nice to have another version to listen to sometimes. If Jermaine wants to cover a song, why should I care? He is a singer after all. When Michael covered Smile, was there outrage?

Jermaine Jackson needs to move on, in my opinion.

He wants to relive the golden days of the Jackson 5, and that's fine, but he really needs to define who he is today.

It's bad enough he WASTED all of those years waiting for Michael to join him and the brothers on stage again. Now he has, somewhat of a chance to showcase some NEW material. New material that can possibly reflect who he is today.

But given what we see, just like wasting time waiting for Michael, he again is wasting time in his "efforts" to relive the J5 glory days.

Where the heck is all of that NEW music he is always BRAGGING about? LOL!

Is he? From what I know he hasn't been an active singer for more than 20 years!

Plus Michael didn't need Chaplin's name in order to have a career!

This is just bizarre! I don't get it! If he wants to cover a song by any other artist, sure! But to cover a Jacksons song... that he was never a part of? There are a million songs in the world to choose from!!

Probably because it was a song made after Jermaine left Jackson5 and now he wants to catch up on lost time.....particularly on the Destiny/Triumph eras as that was the Jacksons at their best and most creative..........

The second reason is that Jermaine wants to now assert himself as the lead singer of the Jacksons (taking Michael's place).....even if group doesn't exist any more........




I'm just wondering though, Has Jermaine got rights to cover this song from the original writer ("Mick" Jackson).......royalties gotta go somewhere............and the Jackson family tend to ignore these little details!!!!!!

So he is only allowed to cover songs that he was a part of? Jermaine is only allowed to cover Jermaine Jackson and Jackson 5 songs? I don't think Michael was a part of the original release of Smile.

I'm not surprised by all the negativity. A lot of people are getting worked up over nothing and it is the same people in every thread in this section. Anything with Jackson in it is automatically bad/disgusting/horrible unless it involves Michael.

Anyway, please continue to fill this thread with "OMG Mr Grease why are you covering a song you were never a part of?!?!" if it makes you happy.

Jermaine's single and cover version of "Blame it On The Boogie" is available on iTunes and Amazon in France since August. The hard copy of the single release in France is postponed til November 7th (originally scheduled for release September 19th.) The video for the single has been shot recently in California.

Honestly I don't know what to think of this video....

It makes no sense for Erm to remake a hit song of his brothers when he wasn't even in the group at the time.

Also I hate how they auto tuned the music. The best thing about the original is it natural disco music.

Nonetheless, it's a catchy tune....

I can't see the video, but MsCassieMollie's words say it all, in my opinion.

Poor Jermaine Jackson needs to stop living in the past (career wise) and come up with something NEW, something FRESH and something he can call his very OWN!

And why on earth would he feel the need to auto-tune, he still has a decent enough voice.

This man is going to go to his grave trying, in vain, to recreate the glory days of the Jackson-Five.

I see nothing wrong with recreating a song and putting your own twist on it. That is how we get some great covers and a select few that surpass the original. I also see nothing wrong with updating a song to the current era, like what Michael did the in his own concerts, but I never like how people think updating equals adding either auto-tones or rap.

Wit that said, I don't understand why Jermaine feels the need to cover Michael's songs. I mean, I know why -$$- but Jermaine has his own songs that are cult classics and I know he writes his own stuff. Like what happened to the song he made in India and shot a video for during the shooting of their reality show? As much as I don't like Jermaine, he would have more respect from people as a musician if he just did his own thing instead of coming off as an inferior copy to Michael.
