BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For [General Discussion]

"CD2 - A CD containing previously unreleased material recorded in Michael’s personal studio at Hayvenhurst. This material includes early demo versions of songs from the album as well as demos for songs not included on the final album. All of this material is being released as it was recorded during the BAD sessions. Nothing has been added or changed. In addition, this CD also includes new remixes from internationally renowned DJ/producers."

I don't know if this has been addressed yet, but does that meen that the unreleased songs are all on a demo level and none of them is fully finished?

Besides, how will the sales of this box set be counted? Each album sold = 4 units? And will they be added to the sales of Bad? I kind of doubt it because the content of Bad 25 is like the quadruple of the original album.

Other than that...:clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap: fot the Bad Tour DVD!!!!

The only downer for me is no cinema release - an opportunity missed forever in my opinion!:doh::doh::doh::doh::doh:

I hope so too... the less remixes, the better. Nobody wants them.

I agree. The only remixes I would also want on the album besides the original demo versions would be the new versions of Bad Era Songs Michael did together with Rodney Jerkins around 2001; Cheater, Chicago 1945, Get Around

Let's hope so!!! Bring on September

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

there could be other sources but Estate might not have access or rights to them.

The the supposed holders of this other footage would rather it collect dust somewhere than release it?
And why wouldn't his estate or label own all his concert footage?

/just sayin' :)

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

He did? I thought July 16, 1988 was the date that Princess Diana went to the concert and Michael had took Dirty Diana off of the set list because he didn't want to offend her.

She requested he did the song, so he did.

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

I wonder what the unreleased demos not included on the album will be? :wild:

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

I just thought of an awesome idea for a bonus feature that I'm sure the producer of this DVD didn't think of!

Bad Tour: A Retrospective

It could have behind the scenes footage from the tour, interviews with the band, dancers, and crew TODAY as well as at the time.

But of course, this is OBVIOUSLY asking for too much :mat:

I think that's what the Spike Lee documentary is for? or is that just for the album?

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

3 CD and 1 DVD is $45 on MJ Store. Probably Amazon would have it lower.

There's a case which includes 3 CD, 1 DVD, A tshirt, a replica ticket, tour program, back stage pass, lanyard etc for $199.99

I want everything, except the jacket.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE MAY 21, 2012

25th ANNIVERSARY OF MICHAEL JACKSON’S

LANDMARK ALBUM BAD CELEBRATED WITH SEPTEMBER 18

RELEASE OF NEW BAD 25 PACKAGES

MICHAEL’S PERSONAL VHS COPY OF HIS JULY 16, 1988

PERFORMANCE AT WEMBLEY STADIUM UNEARTHED FOR THE
RELEASE

NEWLY DISCOVERED OUTTAKES AND DEMOS FROM BAD ALBUM
RECORDING SESSIONS TO BE RELEASED

New York, NY – Twenty-five years after the phrase “Who’s Bad” became a generation’s
cultural catchphrase, Epic/Legacy Recordings, in collaboration with the Estate of
Michael Jackson, will celebrate the legendary album and record breaking BAD tour on
September 18, 2012 with the release of a deluxe package, BAD 25, which includes three CDs,
two collectible booklets, and features the first ever authorized DVD release of a concert from the
record breaking BAD tour.

“The era of BAD represented Michael’s creative ‘coming of age’ as a solo artist in charge of
every aspect of his career – from recording to touring to endorsements to merchandising. This
was the first album on which nearly all of the songs were written by Michael. It was also was
the first album in history to produce five consecutive #1 singles and it took 2 ½ decades for
another artist to match that success. It was also the first time Michael would tour as a solo artist
- his vision, his decisions on what the show would be. The enormous success of the BAD album
and tour was a pivotal moment in Michael’s growth as a composer, performer and producer
cementing his role as the King of Pop. We are thrilled to celebrate such an historic era in
Michael’s career with this release”, stated John Branca and John McClain, Co-Executors of the
Estate of Michael Jackson.

The BAD 25 anniversary deluxe edition will feature three CDs and 1 DVD as follows:

• The highlight of the package is the DVD of Michael’s legendary July 16, 1988 concert at
Wembley Stadium. The concert is not a compilation of performances, but rather one
complete show, exactly as Michael performed it for Prince Charles, Princess Diana and
the 72,000 fans who were in the audience for that night’s sold out show. This show was
one of the record-breaking seven nights played at the venue attended by more than half a
million people – three times that many people tried to purchase tickets. The DVD was
sourced from Michael Jackson’s personal VHS copy of the performance as shown on the
JumboTrons during the concert. This footage was only recently unearthed and is the only
known copy of the show to exist. The visuals have been restored and the audio quality
enhanced so that fans can share in the excitement of that famous night

• A CD of the re-mastered original BAD album

• A CD containing previously unreleased material recorded in Michael’s personal studio at
Hayvenhurst. This material includes early demo versions of songs from the album as
well as demos for songs not included on the final album. All of this material is being
released as it was recorded during the BAD sessions. Nothing has been added. In
addition, this CD will also include new remixes from internationally renowned
DJ/producers

• A CD showcasing the audio from the sound truck recordings of the July 16th Wembley
performance. The first-ever live Michael Jackson CD to be released, this is the only
concert from the BAD Tour known to exist on multitracks
This magnificent 3 CD/1 DVD box set will also include two extensive booklets with yet unseen
photos from the recording sessions, video sets and the concert tour, the original BAD cover art, a
two-sided poster and more. A BAD 25 two CD standard edition featuring the original album
plus the CD of demos and new remixes will also be made available as will a stand alone edition
of the DVD and a picture disc of the original album.

On June 5 in the U.S. (June 4th ex-U.S.), Epic / Legacy Recordings will re-release the original
first single from the album "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" as a CD Single with a previously
unreleased bonus track from the BAD sessions, "Don't Be Messin' 'Round (demo)." This is a
Wal-Mart exclusive CD single in the U.S. and will not be available digitally.

On June 26 a replica edition of the original 7" vinyl of this single with the original B-side "Baby
Be Mine" will be made available to the world. The first single for BAD, “I Just Can’t Stop
Loving You,” was originally released on 7" vinyl in 1987. The 7" single edit of the song has
only been available on that original 7" vinyl until now.

Recently, Pepsi announced an exclusive global partnership with the Estate of Michael Jackson as
part of its new “Live for Now” campaign. Starting this month, Michael Jackson and Pepsi fans
in more than 20 countries around the world will experience this partnership in a variety of ways,
including a retail campaign featuring one billion special edition Michael Jackson Bad 25 Pepsi
cans, live events, and opportunities for fans to access special edition merchandise and new music
from BAD 25.

The BAD album was the third Michael Jackson album produced by Quincy Jones and was
originally released on August 31, 1987. It was monumental in many ways; Michael wrote nine of
the album's eleven tracks and received co-producer credit for the entire album. The album was #1
around the world, made history with five consecutive #1 singles on the Billboard chart, produced
ten chart-topping singles, nine ground breaking short films and to date, the Bad album
has generated over 45 Million units in sales. BAD was nominated for six Grammys and won
two; the album earned Michael the first-ever Video Vanguard Award at the MTV VMA Awards.
Songs on the original album are: “Bad,” “The Way You Make Me Feel,” “Speed Demon,”
“Liberian Girl,” “Just Good Friends” featuring Stevie Wonder, “Another Part of Me,” “Man in
the Mirror,” “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You,” “Dirty Diana,” “Smooth Criminal,” with “Leave
Me Alone” added to the album once released.

The BAD World Tour was Michael’s first concert tour as a solo artist. The legendary tour
included 123 concerts attended by more than 4.4 million fans over sixteen months. When it
concluded, the tour had shattered all previous touring records for attendance and total gross
revenue adding three new entries in the Guinness World Records for the largest grossing tour in
history, the tour with the largest attended audience and the most sold out shows at Wembley
Stadium.

More details on this and other exciting projects relating to BAD’s 25th anniversary will be
announced soon.

Man, you really are hard to please aren't you.

Just be happy that we've finally got the Bad Tour on DVD - something we've been waiting years for.

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

On the 16th July 1988, MJ performed TWYMMF and Dirty Diana.

But I can remember a part of conversation where Michael said, she wanted to hear Dirty Diana and michael replied with, no we took it out of the show.... what was that about then ???

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

Rushing off to Walmart to buy the "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" single immediately! I'm glad Sony is going back to the way that singles used to be released --- CD only --- and opting not to release it digitally. Very smart tactic.

Also, this isn't too far off from the leaked prototype a while back ;)

rights depends on the agreements. for example photographers own the rights to the photos unless they sign away the rights. Locally there could be TV channels and so on used for recording and they might own some rights. Rights could be divided among multiple parties and could be hard and expensive to get all of them. Who knows.

She requested he do it, but he had taken it out of the show out of respect. Although, on that night he did it.

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

What i'm concerned about, in addition to their not being a Blu Ray, is that the footage is what was recorded for the jumbo trons. Well the Jumbtrons are for the people who are seated way back in the stadium so all the shots are close ups and no wide shots. That mean there won't be shots like we saw on the dangerous tour. You see when they are filming for t.v. they bring in much more lighting and many more cameras, so the t.v. audience can feel and experience more fully what was happening in the theater. I don't doubt the footage will be good but it will not be like the Dangerous from Bucharest DVD where the intent was clearly to broadcast for television.

I cannot believe this is the only show Michael recorded and kept. Sad. Just sad.

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

Does anyone know more about the Daybreak clip tomorrow...it's not going to be the same video on the website is it? Any idea what part of the show it will feature on? I don't wanna get up that early for nothing :D

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

He did play Dirty Diana on July 16, this is true. But as far as I know, TWYMMF was indeedly left out that night. I could be wrong, though.

About Bad25:
Judging by the content the package will contain, it seems the Estate really learned their lesson after the MICHAEL album completeley failed for the fans. That's great to know!

Yes, and then he said and it was too late to put it back to the show (just watched Home videos recently). By remembers, the Home Videos were does in 2003. He probably simply forgot.

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

I know someone who attended the 14th and 16th. She says that he did Dirty Diana and The Way You Make Me Feel. I'm sticking to the memory of someone who was actually there.

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

we will have to wait and see what the actual setlist was when it's released.

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

From SonyMusic UK:
Some info re: the single and Pepsi deal are different, and dates are different to the US one. An exciting video teaser will be live on the official website, VEVO etc.. imminently. A 30 sec Wembley clip will be receiving a UK TV exclusive tomorrow morning on Daybreak (ITV1) too. Loads more news and links to pre-order the various versions of the album from UK retailers will follow imminently.
Source: SonyMusic UK - MJJMAGAZINE/MJJWEBSITE.COM

Hopefully when I go to London in October I can get some of the various versions. That would be awesome.

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

no people used to think it was the 15th but Birchey found out it's not he guessed it was 16th or July 22nd.

I think TWYMMF was performed because there's some HQ audio snippets around

Anyone else disappointed at the video quality of the teaser?

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

Spike Lee is producing a Bad Documentary :)

I read about that, but I think that's on the BAD era as a whole, rather than just the tour (or am I wrong?).

Man, you really are hard to please aren't you.

Just be happy that we've finally got the Bad Tour on DVD - something we've been waiting years for.

I'm extremely hard to please.
But anyway, yes i'm very happy this is finally coming, but surely they know how much fans wanted this, so why not go all out with it and show us other stuff. :)

I cannot believe this is the only show Michael recorded and kept. Sad. Just sad.

I weep with you too :(

well as it would include Michael's name and image they can't release it without MJ Estate's approval.

rights depends on the agreements. for example photographers own the rights to the photos unless they sign away the rights. Who knows.

I totally get that, but as far as TV channel concert footage, based on what we've seen, it almost seems that they all look the same (in terms of angles, editing, etc), so it was probably MJ's camera crew who tapes it and releases select songs/portions to the TV stations.

But I would imagine as a whole, seeing as how he had a dedicated camera crew, there are loads of footage around. I'm actually really glad it's a Wembley show thats being released. If it wasn't Wembley, i think Madison Square Garden would be good too because the real guitarist for Dirty Diana was there. But of all the dates to showcase, it's one with supposedly missing a song or 2 (apparently, there's no clear answer yet :D haha).

--------

oh my, i registered here a long time ago but am just now posting like a mad man :D

I AM looking forward to seeing the intro/light board on an official release though, finally!

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

Will we get Moonwalker HD? That was being talked about

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

Funyy, so Michael said in an interview he took it out of the show on july 16th, but on this forum fans are sure he did performed Dirty Diana on the same date.... interesting...
