Ask a Weird question thread

I had a thread once actually on a diff board just saying, How funny it is when we want to know something we ask someone else... With google you can find the answers to anything

Ok why does pepper make you sneeze?

*googles*

A sneeze is a reflex that is triggered when nerve endings inside the mucous membrane of the nose are stimulated.

Pepper, be it white, black, or green, contains an alkaloid of pyridine called piperine. Piperine acts as an irritant if it gets into the nose. It stimulates (or irritates) the nerve endings inside the mucous membrane. This stimulation will cause you to sneeze. Actually, the nose wants to kick out this irritant and the only way it knows how to do this is by sneezing."

And Ta da I have my answer

Did you know that Walt Disney was afraid of mice

Well, if ever a place had a slew of mice and rats behind the scenes...it's Disneyland. But there are stray cats allowed to run around free there too to assist in that dilemma. You see the cats after hours at night.

why does someone need adsl connection, if they don't know how to use a computer?

did you know that peregrine falcons are the fastest animal on the planet

peregrine falcons in a dive can reach speeds of up to 250mph:D

the cheetah is the fastest land animal but because their heart and lungs are enlarged they can only run at full speed for a very short time then they have to rest for up to a 1/2 hour to bring their heartrate back down or they end up dying. I learn that at an Earth Day celebration I went to where they brought a bunch of big cats:D

Do you know some of the symbolic meanings of the turtle?:)

Different cultures believe different things, turtles are my favorite I collect them:D Here you go:

Through the ages and cultures, turtles have many meanings. Some believe the turtle is the symbol of the primal mother and connected to the lunar cycle.

In the Far East it was believed the shell was a symbol of heaven and the square underside was a symbol of earth. The turtle could help you unite heaven and earth within you own life.

Ancient myths describe the world as resting on the turtle's back.
Others believe the turtle is associated with longevity, great age, and wisdom.

The turtle represents and has qualities that are congruent with the beliefs and teachings of the Life Balance Institute. The turtle naturally withdraws and goes within when in turmoil. It does not need to learn the importance of this, it naturally knows.

The turtle's whole life is one of steadfastness of effort and patience. Slow and steady: A life of 'non-doing'. There is a saying "home is where the heart is". The turtle is always at home within itself.

Yes and at the Miami Zoo (btw I hate Miami would never go back, yuck) one time I was trying to get a picture of the tortoise and it walked from clear across it's pen up to me and climbed on this log, put his face right at my camera, I died. This man said don't stick your hand in there they have a good grip when they bite down...I wanted to touch it so bad but I'm not stupid:lol:
