It seems that it has been confirmed that the album is being paired with the Sony Xperia. If counted towards Billboard, I wonder how it'll effect first week units worldwide. The last Sony phone shifted 4.6 million within 40 days.

I doubt very much it will be counted towards Billboard sales unfortunately...

1 million copies is a lot today. With that amount you could be among the top 10 best selling albums of the year on the Billboard in 2013. Of course, that's just US sales, but I'd be happy to see it sell 1 million copies and go Platinum in the US. It would be quiet a great number for a posthumus album.

didn't MICHAEL sell 3million copies worldwide and almost 1mil copies in the us? i hope Xscape can do better than that.

Biggest selling album of 2013 was JT's 20/20 Experience. Sold about three million copies by years end.

But one million is substantial, especially for a deceased artist.

so this is the worldwide sales figure? does it also include digital album sales? i thought LG artpop is the best selling album of 2013. in any case, it just shows how bad the market is now.

Then why do you and your staff allow them to be shared here? I don't have an issue with it, and I'm glad this resource is here. It's this soapbox attitude I've an issue with.

I think I clearly explained that. This is not a matter of downloading those leaks. It's the latter statements. and for the record it's not my site, it's not my staff, it's not my decision.

no not the legal aspect either. I'm not the law or the moral police and I never claimed to be. It's the hypocrisy. It's the illogical mindset. Advocating for getting song for free. I think I was clear about that too.

I certainly hope you've never downloaded anything copyrighted for free, if you haven't then you are entitled to express your views in that way. I certainly wouldn't be comfortable.

Don't worry about me. a lot of people know I don't download the leaks, I haven't downloaded a single thing from 2000 watts section either. So I do what I preach. But as I said this is not a matter of whether you or others downloading leaked songs. It's the latter statements.

The Estate, as I said initially, could have avoided this type of situation from arising - certainly minimised it - by swapping the ratio of leaked and unleaked around. You've said 'no one' is going to do that - although gave no reasons as to why.

Well simple logic doesn't need explanation in my book but if you need me to spell it out I will too. Estate and Sony owns these songs and they can do whatever they want with them. While releasing albums they would try to release the best songs and release as many albums as they can. That's the way for them to satisfy their hundred million dollar deals and keep earning money in the long term. They aren't going to consider how a small number of fans have illegally obtained and listened to the songs. They aren't going to arrange their business activities based on someone's illegal actions, they aren't going to reward such fans, they aren't going to punish other fans / public who haven't downloaded / heard the songs just because some small group have listened to the songs and most definitely they aren't going to hurt their profit capacity. That's why no one is going to do that.

the expectation of them considering the leaked songs is also quite delusional. What do you expect them to say /do to be honest? " We are sorry that you stole these songs and listened to those and to make up for it there are the songs who didn't hear before.". Does that even make any sense to you? Realistically?

Even though many people have stated they have no intention of buying the album if there's not a decent number of unheard songs on it - people have been saying this for weeks on here. So the Estate have lost a part of the die hard fan base already.

To be extremely blunt I don't think Estate or Sony or any other party would be hell bent on pleasing people who tend to leak and/or illegally download or listen to songs. If you heard those songs, it's your fault. Not theirs. I don't see them crying over losing the self entitled copyright infringing fans if we are being realistic. I'm quite sure their focus is the paying customer base, not the ones who loves to get the songs for free.

I understand the argument that if you illegally download something, and when given the option years later to 'retrospectively' pay for it then morally speaking you should - but if anything to me that is unrealistic.

nope I did not say that either. That would be an utopia. My post was about unrealistic complaints, the self entitlement and advocating for getting the songs for free. If we are being honest everyone who complains here would probably still get the songs - aka download them. So I don't really expect them to pay for anything. I just wish them they spare us the hypocrisy of advocating not paying for the songs. Again is we are fans of MJ that should be an unacceptable thing to suggest right?

It's a good comparation because it shows the current state of the music market. People do not really buy albums any more with downloads and Spotify and everything. Even if they buy they mostly buy singles. Selling 1 million copies in the US would be great from this album.

Artpop only sold about 700 000 copies in the US. The market is really bad now. Like I said even compared to 4 years ago when "Michael" was released. These were the best selling albums in the US in 2013:

Complaining about the cover. OK, you won't have the cover sticked to your face while playing the album.

Tracklist. Sorry, but it's not MY fault or YOUR fault the songs leaked, or ANYBODY'S. I can't help but to remember the comments "Man, DWKWYCA it's so cool, it should've made the MICHAEL cut". Well now it made, and we'll have the freakin' demos in HQ, not retarded mp3s with bitrate 128kbps.

If you will take into account what we know until now, the NEW songs will be:

XSCAPE (maybe the 2003 demo)
CHICAGO(demo)
DYKWYCA(demo, NOT the candidate for MICHAEL album which was another mix)
STTR(demo. d'oh, don't need to say more)

Apart from these, we'll Get Blue Gangster (according to the online article) in HQ, which is great. The song has amazing strings. If we add to this hole bunch the supposed candidate She Was Loving me, there are already 5 new songs.

You can't put ONLY new songs, taking into account the massive leaking in the last 4 years(LNFSG, DYKWYCA, Blue Gangster, HT, DIG, IAAL, APWNN, STTR, multitracks, POTW) + material that is meant for anniversary releases and that WAS and WILL be released then (BAD25 demos, for example). Remember the times when we used to get pumped just because of 20 seconds of Michael performing BAD during the DWT reheasal tape? Well, now we were spoiled. In every way.

All the hate for LNFSG. It's ok, I don't really like the song myself, but they tried to capture every MJ era. And they did. I recently read a few hours on a page that some people were happy that we'll have some Thriller-era inspired songs.

Promotion is at it's very best. Partnership with the GREATEST phone of 2014? Allow me to say that they hit the nail this time in every aspect.

No Brad Buxer/Michael Prince? I'm OK with that. Of course, I'm a little sad that they won't be there, but let's take a look of their work together. HT and DIG (for example). Very incomplete songs, at least vocally. I would keep this kind of songs for anniversarie edition or for a "unfinished demos CD", but not for a "complete vocal track CD". I find the whole BB/MP tracks overrated, just like we did with BAD tour Wembley. When we finally got it we were disappointed because of the quality. Keep in mind that this was our OWN request. Maybe we would have got a Blu-Ray release if it wasn't for this one show and that petition that everyone remembers.

I can't wait for the album. I pre-ordered the deluxe version on iTunes and will get a copy of the standard edition + deluxe edition when they will be released physically. Even a vinyl if it's the case and I WILL support all the singles. Because they gave their best this time. And I don't care if most of the album is leaked. I listen to the leaked songs and I enjoy them. But they will have to be released in one way or another. And I want them released on CD so I can listen to them in HQ.

Sony has no reason to sabotage this, as after the MICHAEL flop, they're money is in. And this time they spent a lot on promotion. Not to talk about LA Reid's friendship with Michael.

The 20/20 Experience was the lowest selling best seller since Soundscan began its work. Not a good comparison. Also, deceased artists actually fair very well in the market. The 'Michael' album managed to go platinum in the US alone despite the thick controversy, poor promotion and awful reviews.

Very true. But then again, we live in a time where music piracy is one of the more prominent way of getting music. And MICHAEL did substantially well worldwide to be honest. But I wouldn't say it got awful reviews; they bordered on mixed. I read just as many positive reviews as negative.

No, just in the US (it's around 2.5 million here, pardon the typo). Worldwide it's at about seven or eight million. But no no, Gaga's album was a flop to most standards (thank goodness).

I really like the intro. Sounds so cool. - I think STTR will have a true MJ-feel to it! - Could be my favorite from the album I guess. - But since I have not heard anything it's a little early to say! :lol:
