These awared are a joke. It good MJ is nominated... but he was awarded with something similar before

they are actually the most credible award show going because the awards are actaully based on success/sales and not on votes by ppl on pannels or by the likes of perez hilton.
hes been awarded many times as u would expect when the awards are based on sales

awesome, the World Music Awards have always treated Michael with such dignity and respect, he should forget about MTV if he releases an album, totally ignore their invites to come to the awards, and if he wins send a video. LOL

I really really hope that Michael will appear, cause lately he's looking perfect, so no reason to hide. Well we have the moment with that is he the winner, but i personally think that the over 3 million sales of T25 will prove that.

Is there anybody who can tell is there a way to watch the award show live - I'm in Europe/Bulgaria

If you look at the bolded part that has been underlined is what has been announced so far as to when World Music Awards will be aired. Please check back for more info as some folks might remember when Michael was there it had taken WMA awhile to show the awards show based on schedule. We will update this page with all the schedule information.

WMAs: Michael Jackson Nominated For Best Male Pop Artist

Michael Jackson (Thriller 25) has been nominated as the "World's Best Pop Male Artist" for the 2008 World Music Awards, set to take place in Monaco on November 9, 2008. Other nominees in this category include Kid Rock (Rock 'N Roll Jesus), Enrique Iglesias (95/08), and James Blunt (All the Lost Souls). If the winner is determined based strictly on worldwide sales for each artist's top-selling album or compilation in 2008, Michael Jackson will rightfully be named the winner since Thriller 25 has indeed sold more, worldwide, in 2008 than any of the other mentioned albums. The event will broadcast in the USA December 2nd on MyNetworkTV--and will air live in the Middle East and Africa. It will air in Ireland on Sunday, November 16th on RTE 2, and will air on Channel 4 in the UK, November 21st (with a repeat on T4).

Kid Rock: Rock'n'Roll Jesus (2,153,000 Worldwide Sales) - #13

There has been no word yet with regards to Michael Jackson's plans for this event. When Michael Jackson was honored at the 2008 NRJ Music Awards early this year, he appeared via a videotaped message.

If Michael truly was going to show up they would have made a big deal about him being there just like how they did in 2006. If he does win the nomination maybe he will have a video speech. No one knows what is going on as it was just news to us yesterday that he was nominated for World Best Male.

Im pretty sure there will be reports as the awards show winds down as to who won. So that means if Michael wins we will know maybe by the end of the show with reports from the internet or people who have attended the show.

They've never been seen as prestigious as the Grammys and they used to be utterly terrible aside from a few well known acts, you only have to think back to 93 and some of the dire Euro acts witnessed that year.:doh::D

But in reality they have to be the most accurate in terms of relecting what people want as its solely based on sales and not the opinions of music execs trying to push their own artists.

I honestly didnt realise that MJ would be a possible winner of this, to think that Neyo, Chris Brown etc get so much exposure and they're not even listed. Obviously not as popular as you're led to believe.

Lil' Wayne and Jack Johnson are pretty much the only two male solo artists who have outsold Michael this year, worldwide, according to the information I have. But, I believe that Thriller 25 has sold more, outside of the U.S., then either of these albums (which were very big in the U.S. but not so huge overseas). Since these two weren't nominated, Michael remains the top selling male artist for Thriller 25. There could be slightly different criteria for determining the winner this time, since it just says "World's Best Pop Male Artist" and not "Best Selling" but we'll have to see--last year Justin Timberlake won a similar award.

Exactly. It's just a shame that the WMAs is so low profile when compared to the other totally fake award shows like the VMAs.

Michael says his busy. But I dont understand him if he turn down an invitation to be there if its the category "The best male artist" on the world music awards. But I do understand if he turns down mtv, nrj etc.

Its like two days off. thats not much to ask, right ?

The 20th Annual World Music Awards will take place on Sunday, November 9th in Monte Carlo, Monaco.

The awards will air live in the Middle East and Africa, but go out tape-delayed in more than 100 countries. In Ireland, the awards will air on Sunday, November 16th on RTE Two. In the UK, the awards will air on Friday, November 21st on Channel 4 with a repeat on Sunday, November 23rd. In the US, the awards will first run on Tuesday, December 2nd at 8:00pm on myNetworkTV with 2 repeats also scheduled.

The broadcaster of AIT, Raypower and the recently launched Daarsat, has seized the occasion to convince the world that its foray into satellite operations and direct-to-home TV is not a ruse.

i believe Michael has a reason also this time not to come....and these kind of appearances do not only mean 1-2 day long trips for him..

well actaully, a trip to Europe from the west coast of america is not "just 2 days"!! Its a six hour fright from LA to New York, then another 6 or 7 hour flight from New York to Europe. Then you need a day for your body to adjust to jet lag from travelling across time all the time zones.

Then for an award show appearance you need a day for sound check / rehearsals, Michael would need to have a few appointmnets with a designer for his stage costume for fittings etc. Then the day of the award show, and while he is in the area, he would proablly have meetings or private buisness and then the travel back to the west coast of america.

Thats why whenever Michael make a public aperance in Europe he usually stays for 7 to 10 days, arriving a few days before the event and staying a few days afterwards.

As we havnt heard anything about him being in Monaco, no photos, sightings etc, then he proballly isnt there and if he wins will send a video message.
