Why is women's periods considered taboo to talk about? Its like a secret that is not meant to be spoken about in public. Why is this when it is natural and happens to every woman?

Because it's gross and I don't wanna hear about it. If talking about periods in public is fine and dandy then I should be able to go up to a girl and talk to her about my ballsack. Every guy has a ballsack after all so it's perfectly okay.

Saying that having a period is what a woman is all about is like saying producing semen is what being a man all about. If so, can I talk about my cum in public and expect people not to be put off by it?

I do think it is normal and it's a sign that everything is okay, so it's a good thing. But I don't find it necessary to talk about it in public:lol:
I understand that men can be a bit scared by it, but it's also a bit childish to say it's really grose, in my opinion.

And well, It's not the nicest period of the month :p

I think there's no need to talk about it in public (like a declaration or something) but it's not gross either. It's a natural thing, it means a woman is healthy. Nothing to be grossed or ashamed about.

 this thread.

I think it also depends on your country or culture. Over here it's normal to talk about it....but it's usually just woman-to-woman and not woman-to-man talk. LOL

Have you noticed in adverts for period pads that they pour blue liquid onto it instead of red. They too are avoiding to some extent the idea of periods. Or maybe its just the blood.

My blood is blue, though. Is your blood not blue? :mello:

Nothing wrong with that. It's natural. Like Dutchie already said, you probably won't hear it.
Women don't talk to men about these things.
I never had a conversation with a woman about the women periods, because we know shit about it
There's no shit involved in a period though :bugeyed

lol omg how many members viewing this thread.

I guess it would have gone something like this:

Paris: "daddy...um, what's this?"
Michael: "GRAAAAAAAAAACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

:hysterical:

That's what I hate the most about being woman; I know it's totally natural but I'm always in such a bad mood those days.
I hate when I sometimes cry for everything and you're more sensitive that I got so angry easily.

Personally I think having a period is not sickening because if you think about it thats what being a women is all about.

Really?
No brain?
No good looks?
No feelings?

Just periods? Baby making machine?

(I'm not even a feminist and I said that)

Exactly.

Thank you.

wonder what Michael thought of it lol

I agree.

It's not exactly the best conversation in public but I don't think there is anything gross about it. Sure, it's an icky feeling for women but I think some men need to get over it because this is natural. It just the process of the uterine lining shedding and most of it is WATER as opposed to blood. I think it is a little childish to say it is gross when it's not.

I've heard guys talk publicly about their "male stuff" as well and it is not that appealing either.

But this is what I think: If you're mature/old enough to engage in any kind of sex, male or female, you should be mature enough to talk about women's periods. Period.

Why the hell would anyone be comfortable with talking about bleeding vajayjays in public? Why do you even need to? Seriously...
