sometimes people forget how oridinary even the biggest of known artists are can do something as basic and have it be a trip as that story was.
the main reason why MJ didn't work with Prince back in the day was because he was competiting with Prince on the charts and MJ didn't want it to look like Prince had anything to do with his success. unlike today big acts weren't doing colabs and there was always a battle at work.
Prince likewise wasn't going to work directly with MJ because of someone saying or thinking the same thing.
