I have th ansewer to that question right here. This is an essay I have been working on for a while now. It is supposed to explain why Michael is the undisputed King Of Pop. I'm doing this because I've read a lot of articles and books on MJ's career, but none of them tells the whole staory and all of his accomplishments, and thats always bugged me. But now I get to do something about it.

I my honest opinion, this is the most compressive and most thorough article on Michael's accomplishments.

And more than likely you will learn A LOT of new stuff on what MJ has achieved. And it my dream to turn this article into a documentary.

I've used info from hundreds of sources. So its not possible to list them all, but I'd like to say thanks to all MJ boards and sites out there.

Its pretty long, but its worth the read.

Let me know if I missed anything or got something wrong. Or if there is something you don't agree with, just let me know.

Tell me what you think.

Its too long to post here, so here is a link to Maximum Jackson where I posted it: http://www.maximum-jackson.com/discussion/showthread.php?t=5138

All the books in all the world can't describe Michael. Michael is one of those people where words fail to describe properly. Michael is the King Of Pop simply because hes the best and no one no matter how hard they try will come close. Just like there will never be another Elvis, There will never be another King Of Pop.

No book, no word, not a thousand words, not a single person, not a million people can descrpie MJ. One can try of course!

But Michael Jackson is The one and only!

Good job, this would be a great read for casual fans.

Just want to mention that the title itself began as "King of Records" in the press (early 1980s) and the MEDIA crowned him the "King of Pop" (and also the "King of Rock and Soul") in early 1984 after the GRAMMYs. This was years before Elizabeth Taylor crowned him the "King of Pop, Rock and Soul."

Thanks for the comments guys.

And TSCM, wow I didn't know he was called that before Liz Taylor did.

Any way this is a GREAT article for any new fans out there who want to know why MJ is #1.

And it my dream to turn this article into a documentary.

Thank you KB50MJ. That was a good and highly informative read. Well done. :)

In much simpler terms, I think Michael Jackson is the King of Pop because he has dancing moves, lyrics, vocals, and ideas that are so unique and awe-inspiring. He's been an inspiration to millions of people over his long career and will never be topped by another single recording artist, well, ever. And the most exciting part? He's still as brilliant today as he ever was and he fully intends to release new music and perform!

Thanks. But The problem with that is that his dancing, singing, and other stuff is all based on personal opinion.

I mean some people thing Hillary Duff is the greatest artist ever.

The only way we can call MJ the King Of Pop and back it up is by knowing his achievements.

You're quite right. Your facts-driven analysis on Michael's career is impressive to say the least and proves, objectively and beyond a shadow of a doubt, that Michael Jackson is the king of pop. I've thought about writing something similar before but I never got around to it. Thanks again for your essay. It's good to have all of Michael's various accomplishments in one place. Saved for future reference.

MJ use to be a genius, all respect to him. but his latest work is not something to go down in history:)
but I look forward to his consert anyway. moowalk!!!

because.

and also, because naysayers attend his concerts.

because there are people who accuse him of 'casting a spell on them'. and those people aren't ashamed to come across as haters.

and because his success rate is so great, there are some who don't believe that there are others who would go to any length to bring him down, although people like that have tried.

and because the media has been furiously trying to crown others to replace him.

and they have been unsuccessful.

because all his 'old' stuff, and later songs sound newer than anything on the radio, today. when one of his songs is played on or off the radio, it sounds like the speakers just breathed a sigh of relief, along with listeners, such as myself.

Wow... really hard to answer. Well, Michael is incredible throughout the whole work: magic, talent, charisma, creativity, intelligence, beautiful voice, professionalism, the unconditional love for their fans, their enigmatic dance and many other qualities make it a complete artist. Only the name "Michael Jackson" already shows a great potential of this great artist and man. I'm sure there is never another artist like him. Michael is single and inrreplaceable and definement the "King of Pop" and that there is no question about it! The world will never know another artist like Michael. :)

Because he is the greatest, the biggest star this planet have ever seen and will ever see.

He is a pure genius, and to the one saying he used to be. That may be your opinion, but others disagree. And I am one of them. I think that the best work Michael has done came after Thriller. Thriller is not as good as the sales tell. Don`t get me wrong its a brilliant album, but MJ has done better with Bad and Dangerous. And on History he had what is in my opinion his best song yet, Earth Song. Invincible is a production masterpiece. It is what it was ment to be. Michael does more then create hits for us to enjoy. He invents music and takes it to levels never done before. Just remember that the sound on Invincible can only be fully experienced with proper speakers. No other artist had done that before Invincible. It is not enough to simply have power, you need technology of sound to listen to it. I know, because I have done so. And believe you me that there is a vast difference listening to the album on ordinary systems and listening to it on high tech systems that cost a monthly salary.

And now he wants to make more hits with a new album. This time the music itself has the focus. These are all different stages of his artistic development. Michael does not record music for albums or radiostations, he creates music because that is what he does. If he wants to make money out of it, he releases it. But he never creates a song just to make money. That is the mark of a true artist.

What Michael has done, and still do is something that is pure and natural. It is unique and lives on its own, without the need for anything else.

To understand music, dance and true magic like MJ does, is why he is the King Of Pop in my opinion. What he has given everyone, and still thrives to give, is a gift from life itself, for us to experience.

Remember him always, because your grand kids will ask who he was, just like some of you asked who Elvis was to your parents. Because you witnessed the human race second Mozart, Michael Jackson. You will probably never see anything like it in your lifetime, but someday another prodigy child will be born and the world will see magic again. But it only happens a few times during human history.

Make no mistake, the very reason why Michael has suffered so much these past years is because of who he is, what he does and what he owns. Alot of people can`t handle that and will try to sabotage it.

The haters who trash his good name, does so because he is what they will never be, larger then life.

It is human nature to belittle those of our kind who is better then ourselves.

Michael is a human being like you and me, but still not like you and me.

He is the King Of Popular Music And Culture

that's a terrific post. especially what you say about Invincible and speakers and technology and the full use of speical sound systems and how Invincible sets the precedent in exploiting those systems. i used a good system and heard stuff that i didn't know existed in music, thanks to Michael, and that Invincible album.

it was a thorough and new and enjoyable listening experience that prompted me to buy thirteen copies...partly cus i mysteriously lost some, and partly cus i couldn't do without that sound.

Well to put it mildly, Invincible is an album for sound geeks, like myself.

Yeah its a shame for those who can`t afford expensive systems and I sympathise.

But Michael knew that and did it anyway. It is what an artist does. Takes risks and leaps others would not dare to do. Michael is so into being a pioneer, doing things for the first time.

And he had done videos, dancing, singing, all the different music styles, themes. He has done it all, so what is left to do but to do what has not been done yet, right? Well a new age of music saw daylight during the late 1990`s

The digital age. And music follows where technology leads. And Michael Jackson will be the first person to try it out. After Invincible, all albums made by high profile artists and bands, followed what MJ did.

I remember MJ even hiring a Norwegian company who used to make sound systems, to create a new type of system capable of playing his new music to the fullest. He used their high tech systems to develope the music. I have listened to music on some systems these guys made, and I can tell you that music never sounded the same after that.

If you only knew how much you can manipulate sound, you would have a new hobby right away. And Michael knows this and has the dough to do it. Off course he would make a geek album at one point, lol.

Invincible is music for geeks. Gotta love it, lol!

All good artists make an experimental album at one point.

Especially The King Of Pop.

HOT LIST OF THE TOP CELEBRITIES OF 2003

1. Michael Jackson

I don't get all the lists and stuff?.... I don't go by what other people say or where he ranks on lists to know hes a great artist. People seem unsatisfied if they don't list something and make people think he should be #1 all the time.

Michael is number one for a reason. He's, in the words of Tina Turner, Simply The Best. I don't need a list to know that. He is number one because of who he is, what he does, and how he does it. If that's not what a number one artist is then i don't know.

I know you get off on stats and all that but can't we like him for who he is and not where he places on a list of any sort?

I agree with Oprah, "that title is beneth him. Michael is much more".

Listen to just one of his albums - then you've got the answer actually!

He is a musicly genius!
