Whitney Houston Has Passed Away

Well I was annoyed yesterday by my nephew who posted comments about Whitney in separate posts I made about her on FB. In both comments he said "too bad drug (crack) abuse killed her" and that "Whitney was 'gone' a loooong time ago." Nobody knows what actually caused her death yet so I refuse to speculate. I made that mistake with Michael and I'm not doing it again. Right now people just need to mourn her passing and celebrate her talent and the beautiful music she left behind. Not pass judgement and jump to conclusions. Even if it was true it would still be terribly sad, I don't care what killed her.

I only wish people would have shown her the love and respect she deserved while she was still with us. Just like with MJ, they wait until they are gone and then it is too late. And sometimes it doesn't even stop the media from hurting those who passed and their family and friends. I've seen and heard things that are in very poor taste. For instance, they are showing Whitney's last impromptu performance and pictures of her Grammy partying just hours before her death and are using it as a weapon. They are trying to make her look bad and a hot mess because she was sweating - NEWS FLASH - Whitney Houston was always a profuse sweater. ALWAYS. Thankfully I did see Whit's friend, Kelly Price, defend her by saying they were dancing and having a good time for hours and she showed no signs of trouble. They ALL looked like they had been in a car wash. The media is so disgusting with their manipulation and twisting of the facts. As of right now, this looks to be a tragic accident. Whitney was relaxing in the tub and drifted off (Xanax use or not, it's LEGAL) and unfortunately slipped under the water and now we have lost a legendary vocalist like no other. Whitney Houston was the benchmark and always will be. In this time of terrible sorrow, we should be remembering her contributions and humanity - not the nitty gritty dirty details. It's too soon.

There's nothing new under the Sun. They did this to Michael too. It's an evil world.

Both Janet & Randy tweeted this:

We honor and celebrate the life of one of the world's most gifted vocalists and talented entertainers, Whitney Houston. Although we are all saddened by her sudden passing and will miss her, we respectfully ask everyone to consider her family at this time of difficulty by granting them the patience and comfort they need to mourn their loss in peace.

The right words fail me to sum up the sense of loss following the passing of Whitney ... a wonderful woman, a true heart, and an immense artist. Now is not the time for anyone to indulge in negative speculation. It is a time to honor her talent and a voice which the world enjoyed. She is gone too soon, but that incredible voice will live on as an eternal reminder of her timeless talent. Rest in peace my friend

I read she mixed up Xanax with alcohol and it's what killed her. She didn't drown. There wasn't enough water in her lungs to have kill her.

We are going to hear a lot of things... as always, unfortunately. I guess we'd better wait for the coroner to give his conclusions. I still remember so many people speculating about Michael's death .... most of them were so far from the truth.

Yes, all sorts of things are going to be said but it's going to take some time for the truth to come out.

A friend of mine posted a link to this article on facebook, I think it sums up some of my thoughts quite nicely.

A Celebrity’s Death Really Brings Out the Jerks
When a celebrity dies, social media blows up and follows an amazingly consistent pattern. Keep in mind, I have done some of these myself. I think most of us have at some point or another:

Round One of Posting: "What? [Insert name here] died!"

Round Two: "RIP [Insert name here]"

Round Three: Posts links to something the deceased did that the posters thought was amazing

Round Four: Other parties decide to chime in: "[Insert name here] was a [drug addict/creepy alleged pedo/tyranical CEO of a company that makes an Operating System people are brainwashed to like and I was brainwashed to hate]." I'm presuming they then find the highest mountain with wi-fi access to climb atop to then proclaim, "I'm going to save my grief for someone who deserves it!"

Round Five: "100,000 people die each year from [starvation/earthquakes/war/listening to Michael Bolton while driving on a windy cliff]. Why don't you care about them?"

Round Six: "Check out this great video of a cat yawning!"

Here's the deal, people: there is nothing wrong with being sad someone died, and thankfully we, being the advanced species we are, have the capacity to have sympathy for more than one person at a time. In fact, we can have sympathy for an unlimited number of people and things. Wow — Amazing, right? All this time, conventional wisdom told us we had to hide away our spare grief in cigar boxes, old shoes and mattresses because we thought it might run out at a really inconvenient time. After all, how much would it suck if the family dog or other loved one died, or we watched Titanic for the 50th time, and we had no more grief to give? "Well, shit, Jennifer; this would normally be the time I'd hug you and tell you I'm sorry for your loss, but I'm all out of grief and sympathy. I really shouldn't have burned the last of it on Whitney Houston."

"I told you not to waste it; she was a crack addict, you know."

Why are people sad when a famous imperfect person dies? You can ask the people who are posting the RIPs, and they each may have their own unique response as to why they are sad; perhaps they have a great memory associated with one of the creations of that imperfect person. Maybe they really are that person's Number One Fan. Or maybe, they're like me. Every time I've felt sadness over a famous imperfect person's passing, it's because I feel they've been robbed of the life arc I wish everyone could have but few are lucky enough to receive. On the final curve of this life arc, we overcome our demons, find peace and joy, create more beautiful things with our inner strength and wisdom guiding us, and we die peacefully in our sleep when we are old and grey.

I think of how talented and lovely Whitney Houston was in the "How Will I Know" video. When I watched that video today, I thought about how the young, vibrant person in that video had no idea what was coming in her life –- I'm pretty sure she wouldn't have predicted her future would bring years of substance abuse and a publicly tumultuous marriage. I'm sure she didn't predict her final moments would involve drowning in a hotel bathtub, leaving behind a slew of rumors about her addiction and a beautiful young daughter who she didn't say goodbye to. I'll admit, while I have always felt her vocals were about as close to perfection as you can see in pop music, I was never really a fan of her music. Yet, I'm sad for her, and I am sad that yet another person didn't have a beautiful and graceful final curve to their life arc. I'm sad that the world still looks at addiction and other mental illnesses as stigmas. I'm sad every time I read or hear someone state "fuck them" when they see a person falling hard. I then get angry, because everyone who says "fuck them" is creating a barrier between those in need of help and the resources they desperately need. "Fuck them" prevents people from admitting they can't fix their life on their own. "Fuck them" is what causes governments to cut funding to mental health facilities and programs. "Fuck them" is what causes families to be afraid to seek help in the community, or to give up after the first few backs have been turned.

The person who passes may "just" be an imperfect celebrity, but to me? Their passing reminds me of all of our failures and all of the beautiful things that could have been created by those who left us far too young.

Dubai's Fountains Choreographed To Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You" ~ BEAUTIFUL !!

Dubai's Fountains Choreographed To Whitney Houston's
"I Will Always Love You" (VIDEO)

So beautiful, so sweet and pure just like Whitney

This weekend news of America's most passionate vocalist's untimely passing left millions devastated. Whitney Houston will be forever remembered for her talent and devotion to music. The Grammy Awards hosted a beautiful tribute to the legend, but our favorite dedication came from, of all places, Dubai.

Yes, Dubai tends to do things over the top, but the power of Houston's voice needs a pretty big visual component to match up. Watch the monumental fountain and light display synchronized to "I Will Always Love You."

^^ Very good article. It was horrible to see all the negative and hateful comments on CNN for Whitney's passing. But there are negative and hateful comments just about any subject all the time, so nothing new there.

Something I'm pondering just now....just this evening I'm hearing that Oprah is gonna be doing a little special on Whitney and she will be re-airing that 2hr. interview she did with her about 3 years ago for the opening of her new season. Access Hollywood showed the clip of the interview where Oprah was asking Whitney about MJ and drugs use. Something she said just does'nt make any sense to me though. She said and of course being prompted by Oprah, that when she saw MJ at the anniversary show, 'she knew she did'nt want to turn into that',(and yes we all know that MJ was not looking himself for that show).....what I don't understand about that quote is, Whitney was the one who came out on stage looking skeletal and everybody could see something was wrong with her. So I don't understand that comment at all. What was she seeing in MJ that she feared so much that she did'nt realise the poor state she was in?

Yeah she looked terrible that night and the morning after the media ran with story that she had actually died till it wad denied. was she doing drugs then?or was her skinnyness something else if not i guess shes was just in denial saying she didnt want to look like mj did at msg when infact she was already there

Side thought that bi*** oprah never stops does she. so she was getting whitney to talk crap about mj aswell. of course pushing the agenda that her masters want put out there.

Lenny is SO right!

And it reminds me of what Whitney used to say about Michael before singing "A song for you" during her last tour. Why don't people LEARN???

I don't get why are people who didn't like her are now Prasing her now. Could they done that while she was alive. It's the same with MJ aswell.

Because people are sheep and do what the media tells them, but all of us here know better and know what it was really like while MJ and Whitney were still among the living. I couldn't so much as mention my fandom for either of these great artists without being treated like an outcast. I couldn't just enjoy the music without some type of slanderous commentary. MJ was treated horribly while he was still among us and so was Whitney. As soon as their is a sign of trouble, the media brainwashes the public and pushes the star off their pedestal. And then, when that star they beat down loses their battle, they place them back up on that pedestal to cash in. Sad, but true. First Michael, now Whitney. God bless and rest their beautiful souls.

She most certainly was pushing Whitney to drop the ball on MJ, the same tactic she used with MJ's sister.

Its human nature, talk crap about people when they are alive and the minute they pass act like you always loved them to death!

Exactly, so thats why I don't understand her comment there, I'm sure she owned a mirror, so the comment left me scratching my head....or was this tricky editing on Oprah's part,.... dunno.

I blame the media, tabloids etc. for a lot of things. They don't treat famous stars as human beings. They pick at you and pick at you even over the smallest things in your life. It gets too personal. It's not about the person's work anymore. They just dissect your life. Any mistake gets headline news but if you or I did the same thing nobody would know. Michael and Whitney were good people. They loved what they did and wanted to make people happy. Yet all they got in return was a lot of unhappiness and stress that was not necessary. I do feel bad for Whitney because she didn't want to leave her family especially her only daughter. It's sad.

They are talking now about Whitney's funeral and I decided to go view MJ's memorial.....why did I do that? 'cause the tears were just coming......just when you think you have come to terms with this, you realise you have'nt at all. This whole thing with Whitney is stirring up so much emotions that i thought had been dealt with.

Side thought that bi*** oprah never stops does she. so she was getting whitney to talk crap about mj aswell. of course pushing the agenda that her masters want put out there.

Oprah didn't force her to say anything. She did that herself, sorry.
That made me cringe then and now too, I can't forget that. And of course how much Oprah praised her and tried to put down Michael.

Well, what do you know, the very point in that interview I was wondering about is now the number one featured item on Yahoo.com.

.......'Whitney's chilling words about Michael Jackson'

I just had a feeling they would pick up on that given the interview being re-aired tomorrow on OWN.

I believe Whitney Houston was deliberately killed by the mafia record industry.
Even if you don't agree with me, know this, now

has taken her place in God's Heavenly Choir

They already did that.In my country, on the news, they mentioned the interview and that was the only thing they highlighted, when the two of them talked about Michael. And every other word was "like Michael Jackson "..very, very upsetting :(

Whitney Houston had a very close connection to Michael Jackson, and ironically the pair had even more in common with their sudden, tragic deaths at almost the same exact age.
Now, ET has obtained a copy of a tribute to Whitney by the Jackson Estate that is running in trade magazines, the Los Angeles Times and Whitney's hometown paper, the Newark Star Ledger, on Saturday, the day of her funeral.

Above the image of a single, perfect rose, the ad reads simply "Whitney," then below it, "In loving memory of her majestic voice, her radiant beauty and the magic she created on stage."

Stick with ETonline this Saturday for complete coverage of Whitney's funeral.
