Since when is "Olympics" a sport? Whether you like football or not, it is simply a fact that it is the most played and most watched sport in the world. No other sport comes anywhere near. Many Olympic sports are culturally tied, which is why you see so many Russians/Ukrainians in gymnastics, Chinese in pingpong, Koreans in archery, Dutch in speedskating etc. Definitely not all Olympic sports are international ones, even though they're said to be. Sports like ice hockey, baseball or rugby are virtually non-existent in my country even though they're very popular elsewhere. Football however is the most popular sport in the vast majority of countries from all over the world, which cannot be said of any Olympic sport (apart from football itself of course). As for prestige - ask any footballer or supporter whether they'd rather see their national team win the FIFA World Cup or an Olympic gold medal
