Re: Kanye West says "Beyonce Is Greater Than Tina Turner"

Just let it be known that KANYE is the one who should be getting the flack for this comment. Whether you agree with it or not, there is no need to attack Beyonce or even Tina for that matter depending on how you feel about his comment. If you disagree, then rip Kanyes head off if you feel the need..but dont attack Bey to prove your point cuz it only makes you look like a hater even if she isnt better than Tina..there are some that might think she is..but in respect to her fans dont crucify her for the sake of Kanye's ignorant ass..but then again...Kanye is Kanye and will say whatever he damn well wants to say so you cant knock him for being bold about what he believes in..i just get tired of ppl always complimenting and praising Beyonce when shes doing what she does, but when it comes to comapring her to another artist or legend for that matter, everyone is quick to chew her up..kind of ridiculous and double standard if you ask me..But as a Beyonce stan, i dont agree with Kanyes comment.. Im not head over heel- ready-to-blow-up-a-building-angry, but i dont agree. I dont think you can be better than your influence...but realistically, im pretty sure Beyonce knows that and we know she knows that...

But ask yourself...how would you feel then if someone said Michael Jackson is better than James Brown?? Hmmmmm????? think on it...let it sink in lol..

i think michaels better than james... and while beyonce may not be better than tina id rather watch beyonce perform lol

He been annoying me. Remember when he called Lil' Wayne and T-Pain geniuses at the BET Awards?

Why is he riding people's back straps all of a sudden?

Re: Kanye West says "Beyonce Is Greater Than Tina Turner"

LOL I do... and boo, I mean boy what a night that was

Re: Kanye West says "Beyonce Is Greater Than Tina Turner"

Kanye's crazy. At the AMA's he was going on and on about how this generation of acts was on the level of The Beatles and how he wanted to be Elvis. He's obsessed with proving he and this generation has the best music ever. D-I-L-L-U-S-I-O-N-A-L!

yes lol, 1st he said rihanna made bey step her game up,then how shes the queen, now shes better than beyonce, and the bet comment was laughable, he pisses me off

Re: Kanye West says "Beyonce Is Greater Than Tina Turner"

Rihanna's got nothing on Beyonce

Re: Kanye West says "Beyonce Is Greater Than Tina Turner"

He is entitled to his opinion but Tina Turner just as a live performer has Beyonce beat. now Beyonce to me has a good chance at reaching the goals that tina did,but she has emulated her to the T and then some.

kayne likes to get a reaction out of people. now Beyonce channels Tina and thensome. beyonce still has a ways.to go. now as long as kayne doesn't say beyonce over aretha,gladys,etc.. then i can say something about.

Re: Kanye West says "Beyonce Is Greater Than Tina Turner"

Beyonce isn't bad but those are bold statements to make and its too early in her career to make those. I wouldn't call her a "living legend".

Re: Kanye West says "Beyonce Is Greater Than Tina Turner"

Well Beyonce is where she is because of her father. Matthew Knowels made sure that Destiny's Child was nothing but a back up singing group for Beyonce. I would like to see what Beyonce would be like without her father. Kanye doesn't know what the hell he is talking about. Saying Beyonce is better than Tina Turner is like saying that Kanye as a producer is better than Quincy Jones. How can you campare true legends with wannabe's?

Re: Kanye West says "Beyonce Is Greater Than Tina Turner"

^ Because this generation think the old generations need to respect us but this is not the way to do it. Why is my Generation Y folks acting stupid?

Re: Kanye West says "Beyonce Is Greater Than Tina Turner"

the answer to that is, IMO, you'll never know. and that's good. and it's all down to interpretation, which is also good. it's good to have parental support, but it comes down to the person at hand, what happens, ultimately. after all, if it were really up to the father, some would say that every artist would have needed their father, then, to have made it. and some made it without them. and, while some may really have a problem with the thought, there are those who will say that Tina could have not made it without Ike. and of course, there are those who say that she could have made it without him, and those who say that TIna did make it without him so, that would justify/allow those who would say that MJ could have made it without his dad, and those who say MJ did make it without his dad, no matter what it seems to look like. (dad wasn't ready to let MJ in, but mj found a way to be heard, and it impressed his dad, among other things, such as MJ's voice was the main engine that carried the entire family from that point...etc.)

so...what ifs are just that.

I don't think Ike would have made it without Tina. In fact, that's just what ended up happening when they went their seperate ways. She really made it and he didn't. :cheeky:
And yes, support on any level helps one to succeed and Beyonce got plenty of support as a member of Destiny's Child.
With Michael it was natural that he evolved as the star of the group. And Michael was very humble about being the star of the group too. It's like he really took his time to perfect himself as a solo artist before he struck out on his own. Joe didn't push Michael out in front like Matthew did Beyonce. It was obvious with Beyonce that she was being groomed to be the star of the group from day 1. I'm not saying that she isn't talented, but before Kanye can call her a legend and better than Tina, he needs to see what she can do without the marketing of her father.

Re: Kanye West says "Beyonce Is Greater Than Tina Turner"

LMAO aXter!!

I think kanye is seriously battling with his confidence...he is just covering up for the large proportion of crap that is swirling in this music industry.

Ike mainly recorded blues music, which is not something the mainstream buys or is played on the radio anyway. Tina made pop/rock which is more commercial. If Tina recorded the same type of songs Ike did (like Etta James), she wouldn't have made it big either. Hence Tina's really huge and Etta isn't.

Yes that's true and now you have Kanye camparing Beyonce to Tina and she's playing Etta in her new movie Cadillac Records... Yes Beyonce will be a legend thanks to her father Matthew Knowels and Kanye West..

Re: Kanye West says "Beyonce Is Greater Than Tina Turner"

Tina is the teacher, Beyonce is the student. Tina is a living legend. Beyonce will never come close to the greatness that is Tina, not in a million years.

Tell the damn truth. Tina is a LEGEND! OK?! Like my man, Ben pointed out so well, Tina TAUGHT Beyonce on the Grammy Awards. Kanye is so full of the red flavored kool aid that he forgot about what he was saying. I thought his comment regarding Rihanna being the best thing to ever happened to Beyonce was a stretch because the are practically on the same league. However, his comment here, it was some B.S.

"You're not the voice of a generation. With all that auto-tuning, you're not even the voice of your own album. Get in line behind me, Obama girl, and that FreeCreditReport.com band."

Colbert is CRAZY!!! I was dying laughing when I read this quote! This made my day. LOL.

Please, y'all, trash Kanye. I am letting you guys do that. Because this fool went too damn far. LOL. Tina over Beyonce?!!!!!!! WHAT KIND OF MESS?!! LOL! Sit down, fool.

Beyonce's whole career was taking things from MJ, Tina, and Diana, taking other people's songs and not crediting them, not talking well in interviews, trying to be the show, trying to over-sing the song as if her voice was Whitney's or Patti's, annoying as hell and extremely materalistic. Tina is a legend, always honest, the definition of strength, hard work, driven, determine, awesome, I love that woman since I was a baby, etc. I mean, I can keep going on and on about Tina. The true Queen of Rock and Roll. Beyonce.... get in line like the rest of the wannabees.

Gosh, Kanye needs to rock a muzzle and keep wearing it.

Re: Kanye West says "Beyonce Is Greater Than Tina Turner"

But ask yourself...how would you feel then if someone said Michael Jackson is better than James Brown?? Hmmmmm????? think on it...let it sink in lol..

Well, that was already stated on this board many times by certain fans who could not respect James' legacy. I can't even say that MJ is better than James Brown. However, this isn't about that. Kanye needs to shut up and worry about what the hell happened to his CD. BTW, I have Beyonce's new cd in my house (my sister's b-day present) and the CD is utter trash. "Single Ladies" was the best song on the double cd or mess.

Arx- funny regarding the pic of Joe. Very funny. I was rolling when I saw the pictures.

Re: Kanye West says "Beyonce Is Greater Than Tina Turner"

i am a true admirer of James' Legacy. i think he is among the ultimate legends, but i think MJ is much more exciting to behold.

i think this whole thing is subjective, be it autotune or whatever, with Kanye..(refer to my inspiration vs. technique' thread) and, in reality, we'll always be mad and critcal and such, but hey, Beyonce is making money, and probably laughing at us.

and i admit, i like 'single ladies'. lol

and as for the reporter who had a problem with the 'free credit report dot com band', lol..it's hard for me to make a big deal out of it, cus the band is on the mind of the reporter, and the company is making big bucks partly cus of that jingle..so...lol...the band did what they set out to do.
