Thriller 40th Anniversary

It would be very disappointing if most of it were remixes and 2 real tracks that you've known for a long time

Just to be clear, I love them both and the original music video concept with animation was cool. But this was the whackest performance of the night (I'd say even in a long time). I think even the hologram from STTR had a better execution than watching some PS2 graphics video (with the performers singing from backstage instead of having them on stage the whole time).
 
I would be surprised if of the 10 tracks on Disc 2, any of them were previously released. Leaked almost certainly, but not released in compilation albums.

The last thing they'd want when releasing a song title a week, is for general public who see a "new title" to be able to go to Spotify or Amazon and listen to the song in great already released quality.

The leaks are a different matter as all of them occurred before Michael's passing and frankly are suited to a anniversary release
At least that's my hope

If we want to dissect the wording of the press release further, there could be a hint in there that on CD 2 won’t be any already officially released tracks on it.

It states:
“Additionally, 15 additional tracks which have been in limited release previously will be available as part of an expanded digital release.”

If that means, that the material on CD 2 won’t have been in “limited release previously” (like with the digital expanded tracks) this could mean we have our answer already.

And that would fall in line with your thinking.

Goofiest thing I've ever seen. All these celebs getting on the nft train is embarrassing lol.
 
I pray to God the estate doesn’t hop on the crypto/NFT train. It’s hilarious when living celebrities do it, but when estates make the decision it just feels grimy.
 
I have a feeling that the Estate would want to release a Thriller 50 in ten years time. If there are any potential unreleased songs from the Thriller era that haven’t been leaked, they may want to save those for Thriller 50. I hope I am wrong and we get at least a couple of never heard before songs for Thriller 40.

"saving" those potentially mean them getting leaked in next 10 years. So I hope they take this opportunity to actually officially release them.

They seem to only want to release stuff that is leaked before anything that isn't, if they can. I expect almost (if not everything) on Thriller 40 to be leaked stuff.

Makes sense, to me. Xscape was a great example of this - even though most of it had leaked, it was still an exciting release I thought.

I don't mind the leaked stuff being included at all but can't really pretend to be excited about the prospect of it either. Hopefully they use alternate versions or something (unlikely).

Main thing I'm hoping for is that we don't have a repeat of Xscape, e.g. the low quality leak of Xscape I have on my hard drive sounds better than the one on the disc lol.

But don’t spread panic, anger & constant negativity, whining & b*tching EVEN BEFORE the fact!!!

I did not like chalk stick OTW 30th.
I did not like the scream collection either.
What did I do? I did not buy!
But I did not roam the internets and spread all that bullshit, not even it was clear to me that I did not like those releases. those were not for me.
Accept it & move the eff on!

No disrespect but I don't think any celebrity alive at that time went through 2 serious accusations, the second one actually destroying the man. Yes people may of gone through it with him but they where not being personally accused.
I really miss Michael, I have a huge hole in my life which cannot be filled as I used to be excited for every whisper of new projects, appearances and when he was around I used to go and see him at his hotels.
Can we just be happy that we are still getting any music new or leaked( which really we should not have!l) I for one can honestly say I have not heard any outtakes apart from demos of carousel etc from Thriller.
It's just not the same without him.

The first one destroyed MJ's career, the second one probably destroyed him emotionally.

Well, on their website they're selling Thriller 40 in SACD format. I hope this indicates that we can count on high quality audio.

I think that's just the original album without bonus tracks. Often the normal cd is mastered differently than the SACD one for some reason (probably so they can have the better sounding master on the SACD and charge more for it). Still, hoping for the best.
