Thriller 40th Anniversary

I mean, in this case it is and you can hear it yourself. The audio there is from the actual reel, most likely, and it sounds shit. Although AI can be used to fix it, do you think they'd be willing to make such an effort?
No man, I’m sure they wouldn’t. But when you are sitting on a gold mine, such as this one, why not invest in it? It would even be worth it to release it as is, without a restoration. Yes, the audio is not in the best quality, but it is listenable, and the video is spectacular.

They’d rather release a concert in crappy VHS video quality but with pristine audio quality, than the other way around. Why? If they can do one, they should do the other as well.

To be fair with you, the audio can be fixed and it should. I couldn't agree more with you. However, we do know the Estate's MO. Pick whatever makes the most money with little or no effort at all.

Jeez...MJ stans are harder to please than the Star Wars ones. I thought the doc was fine. If they covered every little thing about the album, like breakdowns of every track worked on like ya'll want, this thing would have been like 4 hours long. The average person isn't trying to sit through all of that, so this was a good piece on the impact of the album for the masses. The hardcore fans already have plenty of books, articles and interviews available for every nut and bolt used to make the album

Bad 25 was 2 hours long and did every track, just a reminder.

So disappointed;
- New footage cut to short (compared to Bad 25)
- No interview with Bruce (yes he is dead but come on... Sonic Fantasy and other sources are available )
- Why the hell include shit like BTS? In 10 years when a new generation watches this documentary, who cares about BTS, Justin B etc.?
- All the other outtakes from the album? Starlight etc.?
- Why not show when Eddie Van Halen played at the Victory tour?
- Almost nothing on P.Y.T or The Lady in my life?
- Footage from Billie Jean from Victory Tour cut horribly wrong...
- Nothing on the picture for the album

Well my list could go on...

I think nobody has spoken about it here yet, but after seeing the actual film bits of the making of Thriller makes me think it'd be nice for them to re-release the Making Michael Jackson's Thriller special in 4K from the original negatives (which they have clearly found and scanned already).

I'm surprised they didn't mention why the disclaimer at the beginning of the Thriller video and why it had to be there, as the project was almost aborted due to MJ's religion. I guess they didn't want to touch that.

This documentary was all over the place. Not much cohesion. The tik tok, BTS, Bieber stuff should've just been a side note at the end.

What little they showed of the Victory Tour was amazing. Nothing against the brothers, but they had no business to be part of the tour. Not sure why MJ caved into the whole thing.

I enjoyed it overall, but it could've been better.

This is one of the most generic and scattered documentaries I've ever watched...
Not very inciteful.
The Spike Lee documentaries were great and very interesting...
This is just a bunch of meh....
I don't care to hear the thoughts and opinions of rando's who weren't apart of the albums creation.
I would have preferred for them to go song by song and really talk about the creation of each....
But I guess you can't really do that without Quincy's participation...
I don't really feel like I learned anything I didn't already know...
Other than they have 4K masters of a variety of music videos and concerts.......
Crazy that those haven't been released....
Especially with the recent popularity of recorded concerts....

Yeah, that's nice of them. It was MJ's choice to do it or not do it, beliefs or otherwise. Would've been a heavy contention otherwise.

This confirms that the estate is interested in remembering only the really big hits. It makes me laugh when so many people ask for anniversary editions of Invincible, HIStory, etc. I mean, they don't even care about The Lady In My Life which is at least in Thriller lmao.

Unlike other Estate's, their goal is to think about the commercial success of a product, a song, a show, a documentary. That is also why I don't think there will be more posthumous albums, There's a lot of stuff that is releasable but doesn't meet their exaggerated standards.

Exactly! That the shit I can’t stand, The Lady In My Life is so criminally underrated! Literally nothing is ever said about it! One of Tempterton’s best compositions, the song is gorgeous and Michael turned that mug out!

I still can't see this anywhere in Denmark. Sad...

I will try to keep an open mind. - I liked both BAD25 and the OTW-doc, even though one can always find things to complain about and things missing and things that should not have been there. - It will always be like that.

I hope that maybe they will release this on Apple TV and Blu-Ray in extended versions. - I have both BAD25 and the OTW-doc on Blu-Ray, so they were released physical. - Hope Thriller40 will be too. - And then maybe with bonbus material or an extended version with more live footage and more studio footage. - One can dream...

Agree, it's one of my favourites! But I also hate MJ for never doing that song live..

That's BS! Beyonce concert movie was 3FCKN HOURS.....This is thriller we're talking about! It can be done!

I got to watch thanks to a friend of moine sending it to me and i loved it! The only thing that i didnt like was they didnt include recording sessions for ''pyt'' or '' lady in my life and''human nature . I kinda wish they didnt include the victory tour mainly cuz mike DID NOT want to do that tour but did thanks to his abusive father but i loved some the unseen rehearsal footage for the thriller dance sessions ,i also loved the way (i forgot his name but i hope i got this right) steve ivoy used the F bomb to describe mike's preformance for motown 25. I wish ola ray was included i know alot of fans dont like her but she was in the thriller video so she was apart of the magic and also quincy wasnt included only a few audio talk from him .
