Thriller 40th Anniversary

On a side note, according to IMDB, the running time is 90min. It's the shortest one (OTW is 96min and Bad 25 is 131min).
Wonder how that will affect the narrative as it seems too short for me.

It's deeper than that, my guy. Of course they have scanned all the reels of Victory footage, but they need clearance from the brothers, which I don't think will happen anytime soon.

Yeah, like every pre Bad Tour isn't an MJ tour, it's a Jacksons tour. So it's locked away behind a bunch of politics, namely, them being greedy pigs. We've got a Bad Tour, quality notwithstanding. Hopefully we'll get another. Weve been had a Dangerous tour. Another would also be cool. We were this close to a HIStory tour. We've been spared.

But I mean, this stuff is also already all over YouTube, that can't be coincidence.

Wtf are they expecting? Millions? This is a real head scratcher because like

At this point I just give up hope as long as branca is in charge with everything. I don't understand wtf is wrong with that guy

You're missing the point.

This is barely Brancas fault. Prime 80s MJ is the biggest value the estate has. Any hangups is entirely the brothers fault.

Do you not realize how much the brothers hate & don't deal with the estate mainly because of the fake will

I've said this before, but "aw shit here we go again":

ALL of the 35mm footage from Victory was shot by Patrick Kelly who was hired by MJ himself, so the Estate owns the footage solely. Most of the setlist consists of MJs solo songs.
With that in mind, if Branca ever decided to put out a Victory show from them negatives, for the reasons listed above, he'd want the bigger cut and probably release it under MJs name.

However, Victory was a Jacksons tour and they were also under Epic, not to mention Jermaine, who was a "guest". They'd not have to put any work onto the project, but given the facts I said up there, do you really think they'd agree to have the Estate market this as a MJ release and have the bigger cut? I'm sure not, neither would the Estate do anything in different terms.

See now?

Jackie is literally an Estate Liaison. It's strictly Jermaine and Randy who have been egregious and difficult to deal with.

And the will is not fake.
WHAT?????? PLEASE EXPLAIN HOW MJ SIGNED HIS WILL IN L.A WHILE IN NEW YORK IN A SPAN ON 2DAYS??? He was already in for 3days i think in n.y.c with al sharpton & nem, the date of the will is at the same time yet he supposedly flew to l.a just to sign the will & then back to nyc in 2days?? Yeah ok & what has Jackie & marlon really done other than interviews & I can understand randy issue but jermaine....really?? He ain't gone sue nobody for nothing in America. It's not like we're tryna see a victory tour because of jermaine & they all know that but I understand the pie situation with them all but releasing 1 or 2 jackson shows aren't hurting the political views on it so far as them. I'm sure they would love to see it as well. Idk who even came up with this "the brothers said/want this" that's just some fanmade crap. Just like mj & stevie performing jgf. I think it's just rumors but that "will" thing....& branca being ceo after being fired by the man himself & the brothers have no input or say so over there little brothers estate with some of thier material as well is kinda messed up imo.

I agree with everything you said here. I guess we were typing at the same time but trust me I get this 1000% I just said this... in so many other words lol

The Jacksons FB page hinted at release back in 2017. I think the issue is more about the estate having to pay everyone. Remember that victory tour report where the reporter names all of the parties involved (people that nobody even heard of).
I agree though, why show us this footage without releasing it in full.

They did it in 2016 with the Off The Wall documentary. All that footage of LA '81, and the Destiny shows. All sitting there gathering dust.

Honestly, I'd say it's more than fair to release a Victory show under Michael's name. The man hired the filming crew and paid them out of his own money, most of the songs were his own and, let's face facts, it was basically a tour for Thriller and everybody bought tickets to see Michael.

Yeah we wont release to the fans, but let's give it to Questlove so he can add it to his private collection. Or dump it in a library that costs like $100 to watch lol. Anything but an official Jacksons concert release.
Wait, you can watch the full Triumph tour concert in a library? Please do tell me more.

Also I have to say that the Triumph tour concert is 40+ years old at this point, yet all we have is half a concert in terrible quality! The greatest artist/entertainer ever deserves better than this! It's truly pathetic how the estate can sink this low! It's also sad how the brothers don't seem to care at all.

I am very intrigued by all of the footage! I would easily buy all of the footage separately if they sold it that way. Give me studio footage, concerts, behind the scenes EVERYTHING! Alas, I feel all we’ll get is maybe a combined 5 mins of unreleased footage and the remaining doc will be a bunch of artists blabbing about how influential Michael was… yes.. we know.. the WHOLE world knows! Give the die hard fans something for once!

That true. So basically if they were to release victory tour show or just songs, they could only release mjs solo songs? Honestly “Selections from the Victory Tour” released from the estate doesn’t sound bad, or is that a dumb release?

I think the same would apply even if they only used MJ's songs, seeing as it's a concert with the brothers?

I don't think so. Guess clearance would be needed under any circumstances as even though they were solo songs, it was a Jacksons tour.

Okay. Also how were they then able to use those clips in the doc?
Small snippets are always cleaner and easier to use than large segments.

Heres an interesting comment I just found though:

The Paramount connection goes ALL THE WAY back with CBS/Epic (now Sony). It actually makes a smoother business arrangement with license clearance. In essence it's all in house & allows this 40th to open the door to the 40th of the Victory tour (next yr). Chess moves
