I agree and in no way professionell.Doesn't change the disastrous effort of the MJ estate on this release though.
Somehow resembles Michael's self-boycott

I had the same thought as @luis98 , what if the Estate is giving us untouched demos the way Michael left them! Why are the fans complaining now when we complaint so much about remixing. Though, I cannot speak for Luis, but I don't know anything technical about music. If I understand right, what knowledgeable people are saying is that the Estate should have hired a good production engineer, someone who worked with Michael and they could have made the demos sound better without loss of authenticity. Michael would have done the same, i.e. worked with a producer.Nah, I really don't think that's true at all. Mixing a song to sound good is sound 101. I really hate this "If the estate released the songs sounding great you guys would still complain!" narrative. It makes absolutely no sense.
That would explain all the lack of publicity. Sony would have done publicity as they would want to increase sales and make money. It's a for profit company.I agree and in no way professionell.

It's really just basic sound mixing and mastering. Nothing complicated about it. They did not do that.I had the same thought as @luis98 , what if the Estate is giving us untouched demos the way Michael left them! Though I still have question about actual vocal quality. If they were recorded somewhere, not in a proper studio as Demo to be re-recorded properly later, the vocals themselves would sound not so good, right? Like background noise, not hitting all the notes etc.
I have not heard anything yet, but I am curious because I thought we would expect the songs to be 'not Michael quality' because he did not polish and release them.
I believe you and all the other knowledgeable people here. Being a logical person (and perfectionist), I just find it hard to believe that someone will publish a sub-par product especially it being the first one in so many years. It makes no sense from any perspective. It's really just basic sound mixing and mastering. Nothing complicated about it. They did not do that.
I'm pretty sure most of us would rather hear Mark Ronson's Lovely Way over this version. And the 2010 version is still considered "finished" by the estate, so this demo is just that, a demo. A rough one, not meant to surpass. But they might sound bad because of the way they were recorded! Not polished, because they are DEMOS! If the estate mixed them, fans would be complaining about THAT! For once, theyve given us the demos untouched! Which is what fans have been asking for for years.
The presentation of the whole release has been bad though. That hideous font, weird behaviour from the estate, taking down the Remastered videos, lack of communication with the fans, branca's tiktok, barely any promotion. All so strange.
Nah, b. I ain’t buying or streaming shit anymore from MJ. I hope they go bankrupt and the whole vault leaks.
“THE GIRL IS MINE” STUDIO FOOTAGE!?
MJ's legacy will never be screwed. Certainly not over one guy not playing up one rerelease. At any point in his adult life, MJ could literally have his entire catalogue erased except for one single album, and he would still be one of the biggest stars of all time. The world only really thinks about Thriller anyway, so there you go.Nah, b. I ain’t buying or streaming shit anymore from MJ. I hope they go bankrupt and the whole vault leaks.
No one’s gonna convince me that “but if you don’t support it MJ’s legacy gonna be screwed”, It’s their fault and I’m not taking part in this shitshow anymore, at least until Branca leaves.
Fans having to do promo for a half assed product. Pathetic.
What is everyone’s problem with Sony at this point? Wtf?MJ's legacy will never be screwed. Certainly not over one guy not playing up one rerelease. The real question is would you rather be rid of Sony or the Estate?
Sony set all of this in motion. We are where we are because of the 2000s. Career wise anyway, they caused a lot of the failures. And their servers suck if they can he hacked so easily. What is everyone’s problem with Sony at this point? Wtf?
I guess this is what happens when people eat up what Michael said as gospel. I won't even bother.Sony set all of this in motion. We are where we are because of the 2000s. Career wise anyway, they caused a lot of the failures. And their servers suck if they can he hacked so easily.
Michael's legacy is not one anniversary album that he did not create, him being dead and all. Michael's real legacy is what he released during his life time, the performances and influence he has on all other artists. So don't sweat, keep focused on the good stuff. No one’s gonna convince me that “but if you don’t support it MJ’s legacy gonna be screwed”, It’s their fault and I’m not taking part in this shitshow anymore, at least until Branca leaves.
Don't even bother then, I guess you really don't have anything to say.I guess this is what happens when people eat up what Michael said as gospel. I won't even bother.
The Estate needs a creative like L.A. Reid in charge. That man knew how to get a project off the ground. And he has fiscal/financial business savvy. He could do it.Clearly something has happened between The MJ estate & Sony and it’s a real shame. Bring back LA Reid, at least he knew how to promote a MJ release.
Tommy was the devilDon't even bother then, I guess you really don't have anything to say.
Tommy Mottola wasn't good at his job, and there really isn't much to say about the 2000s times after. By all means, inform me of anything otherwise, I'll listen.
Yes - the videos have - THANK GOD - been done great so far. Both Thriller and Beat It looks stunning and the colours are great. Everything done to A+I’ll probably get moaned at but the Thriller 40 threads are all over the place on this site, check this out
Also the 5 4K videos are Beat It, Thriller, Billie Jean & the other two never got a video before. Could be very interesting!!!
Someone should hack them again and leak everything they can findSony set all of this in motion. We are where we are because of the 2000s. Career wise anyway, they caused a lot of the failures. And their servers suck if they can he hacked so easily.
The new videos could be very cheaply made. They might even be just lyric videos.Seems weird if The Estate would not want SONY to promote T40? - It makes absolutely no sense at all.
It is only because it comes directly from mkgenie I tend to believe it. But What on earth can the motivation from The Estate be to not promote the hell out a MJ product? - They make more money the more it sells?!? - I can see no reason for The Estate to block SONY's promotion??
2 new videos for songs that never had a video before - in 4K it seems. Very very interesting.
Was the studio footage of The Girl Is Mine filmed at tape or? - Would it be possible to make that into 4K?
I think the songs that will get a video is WBSS and TGIM.
I'm trying not to get my hopes up for The Girl Is Mine studio footage, that would be incredible though.
“THE GIRL IS MINE” STUDIO FOOTAGE!?
Exactly. If I step back, it sounds like a good Anniversary release. Couple of new songs, couple of demos, at least 2 4K video releases that are very good, maybe more videos. But radio silences for promotion has me totally confused. Maybe Estate thinks they will sell themselves!!This whole campaign is strange without providing teasers or any other type of promo.
oh no, we have those lyrics videos. I want some real video footage either from performance or studio recordings. Is it too much to ask!!The new videos could be very cheaply made. They might even be just lyric videos.
That is not what I meant. In fact, I understand why they do not want to put much money into such niche product addition for a small target group, speaking the MJ fan base. However, I do NOT understand why there is a lack of simple cheap Social Media posts or Youtube teasers that only require some time resources, and hardly an money.Exactly. Please no more Twitter posts from official account!Social Media posts or Youtube teasers
We know 3 more videos are coming. I don't think its going to happen tomorrow though. I remember reading earlier in this thread that a 'series' of releases are planned. That said, completely with you that we are not going to get any teaser, so no excitement built up. They will just silently replace the old videos with new. Think of it as a treasure hunt! What I want to say is, it is crazy that even the main target group (us fans) do not know what exactly we should be excited about, as no excitement is built up. I am now speaking especially related to the Music Video remastering.
Yes - the videos have - THANK GOD - been done great so far. Both Thriller and Beat It looks stunning and the colours are great. Everything done to A+
So I really hope the last 3 videos will be just as good. - I hope for studio footage. Never before seen footage. And not just some random montage video...
BUT - WHEN do you think the videos will be released? - All at the same time tomorrow? Or will they spread it out, 1 videos each week over the next 5 weeks to keep promotion (even though it seems like they do not want SONY to promote T40??) going and keep hype going for T40 for 5 weeks.
I am so looking forward to these videos - especially after seeing the beauty they did with Thriller and Beat It
It appears that the 'The Girl Is Mine’ studio footage is going to be included on the upcoming 'Thriller' documentary.I'm trying not to get my hopes up for The Girl Is Mine studio footage, that would be incredible though.
So I'm going to expect them to be lyric videos or at best WBSS and Human Nature from the Victory Tour
