Thriller 3D Update

I noticed that too. It's all very confusing.

For instance, all the UK cinema chains are denying any knowledge of Thriller playing with House. But when you go on the IMAX website and click on House (With Thriller) and showtimes near me, it lists several UK cinemas showing it this weekend - and I think all in IMAX 2D. So why would they be selling tickets for House and saying they have no news on Thriller. Perhaps it's an error on the IMAX website?
 
Chris C I have tried to look for this at my local or near Imax and its not even showing anything? If this is for 1 week only is it not now we should have information.

If anyone has contact with the estate can they ask them is it getting played at Imax in England??? Uk???

We really need to know.

Yesterday I emailed IMAX to find out which territories #Thriller3D would play in. The response from IMAX stated that each theatre is independently owned and operated, and THEY make the decisions which theaters will feature Thriller 3D, NOT the Estate.
 
When I contacted Odeon directly and asked them about Thriller 3D they said "we have nothing like that planned" but the IMAX website shows that the Odeon in Wimbledon WILL be playing Thriller, so it's a confused message. Perhaps the trouble is that the Odeon customer service staff don't know what they're talking about.

The IMAX website also shows Cineworld in Chichester WILL be playing Thriller, but appears to confirm that Odeon in Southampton won't. These are the two nearest IMAX cinemas to me.


I emailed Showcase cinemas and Cineworld earlier today but haven't yet received a reply from them.

Well like I said, put your location into the IMAX website. I don't know where in England you are, but if I enter a central location in Manchester I get that Thriller/House is playing at Odeon Trafford Centre on Saturday. And there are several others listed.
 
Hi Chris. I looked to see Manchester trafford like you said but on imax site and it only took me back to odean which has no mention of thriller at all. Given that ut would not give information out to book house till that week it is probably because of that.
Imax says thriller 3d shown from sept 21. Which is still a week away.
 
If you or anyone has link i can check on to book this please can you privide it.

Previews are this weekend. The Odeon website will let you book for Saturday morning at the Trafford cinema if that's what you want.

My previous post already indicated a discrepancy between the information provided by the IMAX website and the information being provided by the UK cinema chains themselves. I see no reason to disbelieve IMAX. But it is entirely possible they are giving out wrong information.
 
Previews are this weekend for house only!! Thriller does not start till 21st so its only the film and not thriller 3d.
 
I wonder how the picture will be in IMAX? I'm pretty sure they have to crop it and we see less than normally. If that is the case then what is the point?

The imax site says some cineworld stores ARE showing thriller this weekend.

What a mess this whole situation is
 
Oh and I'm away this weekend so nowhere near an imax anyway. Grrr.
 
I emailed The Estate to confirm Thriller 3D for the UK and was told they couldn't give any further information at this time. Which leads me to believe - It isn't happening at first, at least.. And what with movies having a limited run - I'm wondering if we'll miss this boat. Poor decision.

Just the UK, US and Canada. Really disappointed. I was looking forward to this but it's playing nowhere near my hometown. If you look at the effort they've put into this why not a worldwide release as a opener to any IMAX thriller/horror/fantasy.
 
No and im sorry but no chance of it either.

We have limitless and for all us with limitless benefits its still 30.00.

So we wont be going.

I will wait for the eventual release.

Do you have further information? UK hasn't been listed anywhere to my knowledge.

If you've followed the thread you'll notice the discussion regarding the IMAX website indicating several UK cinemas are showing it.

It remains a complete mystery however if this is actually the case. The full schedules for September 21st onwards are generally announced tomorrow so it may become clearer then.

The Estate submitted Thriller IMAX 3D to the British Board of Film Classification however. This I would imagine costs money. It would be very strange for them to go to the trouble of doing this with no hopes of UK distribution.

If you've followed the thread, you would have also seen my previous post where The Estates' response was that they couldn't give further information or confirm the UK release of the Thriller short - Hence my question. The IMAX website appears to have one title, and one title only for the movie which includes the addition of the '(WITH MICHAEL JACKSON'S THRILLER)' suffix.

I completely agree with you. The smoking gun here is the BBFC. Hopefully it's going to happen. But, movies only have a limited run. I'm guessing this new movie will be around here for what, 6 weeks? I may be wrong. Hopefully they move fast.

When this is released in 4K - can the Estate somehow put this on youtube without loosing all the views the Thriller video they have uploaded now have? - Or will they have to leave both versions on youtube? - And if so, will they then be able to combine views somehow? - for charts and certifications?

Don't expect them to upload it on Youtube. It would hurt the sales if they released it on Blu-Ray.
 
I personally haven’t been able to find any UK listings.
