Hmm, I guess if Wembley has been booked then that's good news but I have no confidence that this tribute will go ahead at all and even if it does, then I'm not convinced it will be a fitting tribute to Mike.
If Jermaine is arranging this, it will put far too much influence on close family friends and ageing stars that nobody really wants to see. With the exception of maybe Stevie and Lionel the other 'usual suspects' will be wrong for this show. Nobody wants to see Liza Minelli, Smokey Robinson, Jill Scott, or Dionne Warwick on stage again. Nobody wants to see Jennifer Hudson etc. With Jermaine at the helm I'm 90% certain those people will be asked.
For a tribute concert that will really get the postive press attention it deserves it will need to include the contemporary acts. It needs to include Akon, Usher, Will.i.am, Ne Yo, Beyonce, JT, Jason Derulo (have you heard his version of Billie Jean BTW??). It needs to be professional (something I doubt Jermaine can pull off because he has no experience of organizing events on this scale) and it needs to be spectaculer.
Sorry for the negativity, but I just feel that the estate should have allowed an entertainment company to organise this show, rather than allow Jermaine to do it.
so far Wembley has the following events announced for August:
