Ive voted for Madonna, she is the Queen of pop anyway, like MJ is the King of Pop
Allthough others deserve the title I think it's very known that Madonna has that title, sadly enough.
I've been to her concert in Werchter and was very disappointed, Nothing sang live, no contact with the audience, that's how I felt about it...
I voted for Mariah just because I love her lol. At least I'm honest:cheeky:. But really; she is my personal favorite female artist of all time. I wouldn't classify Beyoncé and Pink as "pop" though. Though I guess Mariah really isn't "pop" either. I'd probably consider her more so R&B.
Hey, I'm being honest, and I voted for Madonna. I've loved her almost as long as I've loved MJ. Her and Mariah are my two favorite female vocalists... but I agree... I think that MC would be more of 'The Queen of R&B' or just 'The Queen of Song' or something, LOL. I also think that Celine Dione is just as talented/impressive. I just love Mariah because my vocal style/sound is very similar to hers... but I definitely can't whistle-sing like her.
Mariah can't whistle sing anymore either. Her range and voice in general is shot. I know this will come off as insensitive and even maybe mean, but she was truly awful at MJ's televised funeral, and while she played it off to emotion- I don't buy it because she didn't appear emotional, act, or dress the part either (did you see the sparkly mic? Oy!).
Right back atcha!
What I feel seperates Britney and Madonna though is that Britney is more of a puppet to me. People tell Britney what to do, she might have some imput, but it's very minimal. As far as her songwriting goes, Britney hasn't written much at all. Maybe she's co-written a handful of songs, , while Madonna has had significant imput in many of her songs. She did afterall write "Everybody", "Burning Up", and "Lucky Star" among others on her own. She's a better songwriter than Britney (who's never written a song on her own). Madonna takes orders from no one. I feel she is more creative and more of a visionary. I think Madonna although not a great singer, is still a better vocalist than Britney. Just listen to the Evita soundtrack or certain songs on "Like A Prayer or "Ray of Light". Britney could never pull that off as she has no range. As far dancing goes, I guess it depends on which type of dancing you prefer but that's the only area where i'd say they're comparable.
Madonna's music is much better and more meaningful than Britney's though. Britney doesn't have much to say at all in her music. Madonna at least always had a point or was trying to push people's button's. Madonna is a much better artist overall imo.

I haven't watched the Memorial yet since I wasn't home that day. I recorded it on my DVR but haven't been able to watch it because...well I just can't bring myself to do it at this time. Besides a friend of mine wants to see it so I'm kinda waiting for her to get her butt over here haha.
But anyway. Judging by Mariah's recent live performances I'd say that it's a fair statement to make. She is capable of hitting some of the higher notes in studio but when she is live...it usually doesn't come out that great anymore. I believe she really has to prepare herself for it these days.
But it's like all artists. After doing that to your voice for so many years...eventually you just lose it. Apparently it really isn't good for you too stretch your voice like that. Which surprised me when I heard it but it makes sense.
People like Mariah, Michael, Wanya (Boyz II Men) and many more had distinct voices. But as time went on their voices changed and they never sounded the same as they once did. They all still sound amazing but not quite as they did previously.
But it doesn't matter. I still love you Mariah. Hey I can dream haha! :tease:
I don't know if that's the case for everybody. I'm a fan of the soul singer Johnnie Taylor. From the early 1970s till his death in 2000, his voice sounds just the same. Although on his earlier records from the late 50s he sang kinda high and sounded like Sam Cooke. Oddly though Stevie Wonder sings higher now than in the late 1960s/early 1970s when he had a kind of raspy voice.People like Mariah, Michael, Wanya (Boyz II Men) and many more had distinct voices. ^ Pink is on the list.
