Well, herself Grace said, after she was fired, that for re-hire, she was offered very little money, ridicules sum, and that is the reason she didn't comeback. Only she regrets that she was let go abruptly, not having chance saying goodbye to the kids. In my opinion, maybe MJJ, wanted to test her devotion: is she nice and lovely nanny because she loves his kids, or she put all that "love" for salary.
It is possible, that she had feelings for Michael, but definitively, failed the "test". If it was me, I would work for MJJ for free, not because I adore (it is hard to speak in past tense), but because of the children. Raising them from the birth, knowing that I am the only person close to mother figure, its not that money in the world, that would make me depart from them. I was disappointed when I heard Grace saying that money at the end was for her an issue to come back to work for Michael.
She also said, that she was surprise that MJJ was acquitted from all charges.
Grace interview is on YT.
In my opinion, she doesn't come across as wise woman, because she worked so many years for Michael as a personal secretary, nanny, followed him around the world, but failed to learn her boss pattern behavior.
In my opinion, Michael was working getting his life/career back on track, cutting off people who were too close to him and his kids for money not for love or friendship.
