The Legend Lives On - Official Cirque du Soleil 'Immortal World Tour' Discussion

Did anyone get the VIP tickets for the Vegas show or fanfest? I got an email a while back saying that followup info on VIP package pickups would be sent but I haven't gotten anything and I'm going next weekend.

For those that have seen the show already, where is the best place to sit? I'm in the VIP section for the Vegas show but now I'm getting concerned that it might be too close and taller people may obstruct my view.

I'm also going to another show in March (lower level seating, section 2 for this one). I was just wondering if it's a completely different experience depending on where you sit? I'm assuming that I'll be able to see more of the acrobatics for my second viewing, but are there any other advantages to sitting closer/further?

did you order through the fan fest site or through Ticketmaster?

You can pick your ticket up at Will Call (Mandalay Bay) , just before the fan fest. Friendly staff.

Lots of new pics of the kids at the event. nice to see blanket smiling and in some of the shots wow talk about mjs clone

Does that lil Blankey boy ever crack a smile??? Why, yes….yes he does!!

Blanket and his siblings Paris and Prince attended the opening of their late father’s “Immortal World Tour” in Vegas. Friends and family were in the building as well including Babyface, his wife, and their daughter.
R.I.P. MJ.

I hope there is a picture of Paris, Prince, and Blanket without their "Jackson cousins". As cold as this sounds no one wants to see the cousins. I guess Cirque du Soleil or the Michael Jackson Estate is footing the bills; so Katherine got on the telephone to her offsprings and told them she had some freebies for them.
This comment is indeed cold and mean. The only Jacksons you support are Michael and his children. Got it. But, the children of Michael's siblings are just children. They have nothing to do with the behaviors of their parents. It's sad to see such cynical comments about Michael's own nieces and nephews, who are also just children. Actually, I like seeing the cousins. The cousins provided Prince, Paris and Blanket much needed company in an otherwise excruciatingly lonely time.

Yes, that is corrrect the only Jacksons I support are Michael Jackson and his children:
Prince, Paris, and Blanket Jackson.

You are free to support the rest of the Jacksons as much as you want. :better:

I don't support the rest of the Jacksons, contrary to what you think. I just don't support being mean to children. We can't preach love when we say something that insinuates the cousins are unwelcomed and not wanted. After all, they really have nothing to do with the actions of their parents. Guilty by association is not right. I'm sorry that you don't see how inappropriate you post was. Peace out.

It's nice to see the family support something by the estate. It's good for everyone. I am sure Prince, Paris and Blanket are proud of their dad. I am surprised Jermaine is not at these things. It's like Tito, Jackie and Marlon are a trio.

I have seen the show without the tree just the stump and it didn't bother me. They use the bottom for other things and I they still had the Neverland gates and all that. The show is really worth to see.

Randy and Jermaine have been missing from these events and so has Joseph.

Fans flock to Vegas for opening of Michael Jackson's 'Immortal' tour

Las Vegas -- The Gloved One lives on.
If you are a serious Michael Jackson fan, Vegas is the new mecca. Hordes of the faithful flocked to Nevada this weekend for the first-ever estate-authorized fan festival coupled with Saturday's opening night of Cirque du Soleil's blockbuster "The Immortal." The fan-fest began Saturday and continues at until at least Dec. 27 when the show hits the road for a 60-plus city tour that moonwalks into San Jose and Oakland in January.
For now, though, Sin City is the epicenter of all things Michael, from the memorabilia to the media circus. On the heels of the lurid trial of Dr. Conrad Murray, the devout are divided about why they worship at the altar of Neverland -- Is it the
music? The message? The schadenfreude? -- but there is no doubt that Jackson remains the god of their idolatry. Certainly the outrageous nature of Jackson's legacy fits in perfectly with the Strip, a place where cowboys in 10-gallon hats, cheerleaders in teensy skirts and "Titanic" enthusiasts rub elbows in a gigantic pyramid. For many Jackson devotees, a chance to bask in the glow of the superstar was priceless. Dot Gordon, a 54-year-old convenience store clerk from Maine, shelled out $2,000 for this trip. She wanted to pay her respects to the King of Pop, and put a check on her bucket list.
"It's a lot of money but if you are a true fan you will pay any price," she said, bedecked in a replica of one of Jackson's sequined ensembles, a tangle of five intricate tattoos covering her calves.
Michael's 2009 death still looms large in the minds of many fans as they stroll through the Jackson treasure trove, which includes everything from a cornucopia of jewelry and costumes to a smattering of Rolls Royces and the gates of Neverland. Viewing the collection fills many with a palpable sense of loss.
"I am too emotional to speak. I think I need to be alone," said Dana Raluca, a medical assistant from Los Angeles, tears welling in her eyes as she looks at a crown Jackson once wore. "It's so powerful being here and seeing all of the things he loved."
Raluca wanted to pay homage to a man she regards as a hero. She plans to catch "Immortal" twice.
"It's so much more than the music," she said with a sigh. "He was more than a pop star, I think he was a prophet and he brought the world together with his beautiful message."
Other aficionados were torn over whether the fan fest was appropriate given the star's longing for privacy.
"I have very mixed feelings," said 52-year-old Birget Drawhorn from Los Angeles. "Michael was a very private person and I don't think he would have wanted all of his stuff open to the public and his kids trotted out to sell stuff. People are just trying to cash in, to milk as much as they can as fast as they can." Indeed, Jacko has shot to the top of the Forbes Magazine list of highest-earning dead celebrities.
His fans' enthusiasm is palpable evidence of how his music lives on.
One couple dressed in matching "Billie Jean" outfits and glittery gloves. A little boy wore the "Beat It" outfit with pride. Who's bad?
Another lad, Fabian Ramirez, a chubby-cheeked 8-year-old from Vegas admired Jackson's video arcade before breaking into the moonwalk: "I like his moves!"
For Saturday night's opening, the Jackson clan was out in full force. Brothers Marlon, Tito and Jackie joined Michael's children Paris and Blanket. They strutted down the red carpet for "Immortal" amid stars from Babyface to Berry Gordy, assorted hotties from "Glee" and "Twilight," James Gandolfini and Allison Janney.
The fact that Jackson was a Cirque buff lends "Immortal" an air of authenticity although the explosive $55 million production still seems like a work-in-progress that lacks focus. Of course, most of the die-hard crowd of almost 8,000 roared its approval nonetheless.
Director Jamie King packs dozens of Jackson's hits into a two-hour festival of flash that spins around countless video projections, hundreds of costumes and several gigantic metallic puppets. Part rock concert, part multimedia megamix, this frenetic spectacle holds court at Mandalay Bay through Dec. 27 before its national tour.
Certainly Jackson and Cirque share an affinity for making the bizarre -- break-dancing Zombies, anyone? -- seem breezy. Here the star's biography is riffed on in a series of eccentric vignettes: Jackson's pet chimpanzee Bubbles skips about. Little boy Michael floats up to the rafters in a balloon. Aerialists and acrobats hurl themselves about to music from "Smooth Criminal" to "Thriller." A scantily-clad cellist rocks out.
The irony is that no matter how eye-popping "The Immortal" is, the fan fest -- which will continue at least through the show's stay in Vegas -- trumps the show for sheer human drama. Legions of misty-eyed fans forgoing the slots to gaze at the pop star's belongings in wistful silence may be the most moving tribute of all.

Lots of new pics of the kids at the event. nice to see blanket smiling and in some of the shots wow talk about mjs clone

Congrats on being able to pick mj3 out from the sea of 2nd generation jacksons.

I don't think it's being mean about the rest of the jacksons, when i say i agree with cherubim, i'm not feeling this mass photo opportunity of all the cousins on the red carpet, all with their arms round each other. This is a massive project for the mj estate, costing 10s of $m and hoping to generate 100s of $m. The executors need all the publicity they can get and what generates that is photos of mj's children, so as this is the mj cirque tribute i'm expecting a photo opportunity of just ppb - hey just one photo, not much to ask, they can hang around with their cousins the rest of the time. Exactly the same thing happened at the montreal premiere. However when it comes to family projects, the mj3 are up front and centre and on their own promoting that tribute/perfume/heal the world etc etc etc. It's deliberate.

Well said. I agree 100% with you.
Thank you.

All along fans have been complaining about the family using the children to promote their business ventures. Fans have been complaining that the children are getting too much spotlight. I agree with the above sentiments. I feel the exposure is too much too soon. However, when it comes to the Estate endorsed ventures, the spotlight suddenly becomes no issue. Fans asked for more pictures of PP&B. Fans want more photo opportunities of PP&B. Fans are saying PP&B can help promote the Cirque show. Wait a second, didn’t we just say we don’t want people to exploit PP&B? Didn’t we complain about too much spotlight? So, the spotlight from event like Cirque show is beneficial to the children. But, spotlight from family event is harmful. Okay, I didn’t realize there is a difference until now. I thought the pictures from any event will end up on some tabloids anyway…</SPAN>

When I watched the X-Factor last week, I wondered what fans would think about seeing PP&B on national TV. I expected fans to be upset, as the children were on TV. You know… too much exposure, exploitations from the family, etc. But, Mr. John Branca was in attendance as well. Then, it’s all good. The family is working together with the Estate. The children are promoting their father’s legacy. No concern about publicity. Magic happened! </SPAN>

Disclaimer: I’m not a Jackson family supporter. I didn’t buy Jermaine’s book, LaToya’s book or Katherine’s book. I don’t think highly of the family either. Forget about the cheap belt and cheap champagne. I think Joe’s ventures are tasteless. I’m actually an Estate supporter for I have purchased every single one of the Estate endorsed products. Actually, I don’t like how Joe had Paris promote his cheap cologne in Gary this past summer. By the way, in case you didn’t realize, the cousins were in Gary with PP&B. It’s not like the family just sent PP&B only to promote tacky cologne and sent the whole gang to Las Vegas to promote the Cirque show.

Back on topic: I wish the show every success possible. I can't wait to see it in April.

I agree with everything you wrote. There is plenty of time for the kids to show support for their father when they are older. I sometimes think the best way for them to honour Michael right now is to fully enjoy childhood and just be kids.
Anyway great post LIM

I guess because an estate created /endorsed event directly helps the kids as the money is going to them and the estate is michael and his wishes as much as that is possible.

where as a jackson family event is the very opposite and in most cases the kids are being used to make money for others

It's official...the branches are GONE! They were blocking view of the giant screens.

I am guessing they got a few complaints about this...

Also it says, 40% of tickets are sold..apparently, it's a good thing, because in Vegas people usually wait at the last minute to buy their tickets.

Another tidbit: Following the headlines of the Montreal premiere, Cirque sold 60M$ worth of tickets.

So, the spotlight from event like Cirque show is beneficial to the children. But, spotlight from family event is harmful. Okay, I didn&#8217;t realize there is a difference until now. I thought the pictures from any event will end up on some tabloids anyway&#8230;</SPAN>

I'm assuming your post is directed at mine on this page. I agree entirely with your feelings about the over-exposure of the children this last year. But there is a big difference in the chlldren being used in projects which do not financially benefit them and their father's estate but instead family members and shady business men and very importantly - do not bring good publicity or benefit to the reputation of their father. I'm thinking paticularly of the shambles of the cardiff tribute where all 3 were addressing a crowd of 50,000 and done in conjunction with a hastily set up company which has now gone bankrupt, and the chldren's involvement in a tv interview in heal the world charity which is in direct legall dispute with their father's estate and is run by a disturbed and delusional woman.

Compare to a photo opportunity at the opening of a huge prestigious cirque show which is the largest project organised by mj's estate since mj's death and whose success is v important to the estate's well-being. Yes, i do think that a photo of the 3 of them attending this would have been entirely appropriate and i'm confident that it is not going to cause them future embarrassment or end in lawsuits which is more than i can say for their other 'photo opportunities' and interviews. I just think there is a big difference but i understand if you think otherwise and that there is a fine line.

I guess because an estate created /endorsed event directly helps the kids as the money is going to them and the estate is michael and his wishes as much as that is possible.

where as a jackson family event is the very opposite and in most cases the kids are being used to make money for others

Elusive, you and I know the children do not need to worry about money for the rest of their life. The assets (Mijac and Sony/ATV) held by the Estate will continue to generate money for a very long period of time. </SPAN>

If the children helped to promote projects that benefit the family, it’s called exploitation and the spotlight is unwanted. If the children helped to promote projects that benefit the Estate (the children themselves Katherine, and charities), it’s called enhancing Michael’s legacy and the spotlight is no issue. So, the issue has never been the spotlight and media exposure then? It’s where the money is going to. Oh okay… Got it…</SPAN>

I’ve been wondering for a week. Fans were so upset when we saw PP&B on stage in Cardiff. We said Michael would not have wanted PP&B to be filmed by thousands of cameras. We complained a picture about Paris holding Joe’s cologne. Yet, that picture only circulates within fan communities. During the telecast of X-Factor, the camera zoomed to PP&B every 10 minutes. It seemed the producers were more interested in seeing the children’s expressions than the contestants’ performances. X-Factor is watched by over 10 million viewers in the U.S. alone, while the Cardiff event was not even televised. No one suggested that Blanket was forced to attend X-Factor, even he looked bored. Is it interesting?

Speaking of Michael's wishes, it's his wish that John Branca and John McClain managed his Estate. I totally respect that and think Messer Branca and McClain are doing a phenonmenal job.

Have we forgot that it's also Michael's wish that Katherine be the guardian of his children? Out of everyone in Michael's life, it's still Katherine Michael trusted his children to. To me, that said a lot. Fans typically do not think of the family and Katherine highly and I certainly understand why. However, at the end of the day, we need to respect Michael's decision that it's his mother his trusted his children to.

Whether the kids need the money or not isnt an issue.its the estates job to create money for the kids.thats what a estate does. i just stated a reason as to why fans dont have issues with the kids supporting or attending estate events compaired to family events. as i said estate events are done for the good of the kids and mj and the estate is now mjs voice. family events from what we have seen have just used the kids to make money for others.thats called explotation. i guess thats the main issue. maybe blanket was forced to attend x factor but at the end of the day if he was forced he wasnt forced to go by the estate so... if ppl cant see the diff of the kids say attending the cirque shows to going to cardiff and how they were written into the t&c.then there isnt anything else i can say.

Love is magical - we posted at the same time. I think that my previous post explains how i feel? It's the quality of the projects that is important as well as the amount of involvement the children have to do (a photo as opposed to speaking on tv), and the obvious point that estate run projects are for their direct financial benefit.

Yes, i agree i didn't like x factor and all the zooming in on them. But i suppose x factor is a top rated show and it was a show that was promoting mj and his music, so maybe that's why fans weren't up in arms. Now if the estate promoted some tacky tv reality series with the children you can be sure there would be universal outcry. And that is an important point as the estate would never do that, the estate do not get involved in the children's lives except to ask their attendance at 2 cirque premieres to pose for cameras, whereas the jacksons continually get involved in the business of mj's legacy with their tribute concerts, involvement in mj's 20% charity giving, asking for family executors etc etc
