I'm, uh, calm, just a little sick. The wet and rainy weather is doing its job (((( I already want frost ❄ and sun☀
I really hope you get much better soon @hope 💐

Currently trying to distract my tired brain from hideous stress.

The colours are soothing to me as well as that beautiful writing there

Interesting picture. The one where I understand phrases individually, but can't grasp the main point)))) or the meaning in listing individual actions. Learn the alphabet and read for hours? That's how scripts in any language are hacked. The only thing missing is grammar, you'll have to learn that too. Interesting🤔💭

It's just supposed to be a cheerful way to learn how to write the letters and recognise them. The book came out in 2019. I got on OK for the first 3 or 4 chapters and then it all fell apart and I abandoned it. Yesterday I decided to have another go which is insane bc I am beyond exhausted and anxious but apparently my brain thinks this is a good idea.

We shall see!

Understanding. I've tried simple ways to learn English, but they don't work if you don't work on and understand grammar. For example, I can often translate all the words in a message, but I can't understand the general meaning of the message. It turns out that the grammar of Russian and English is very different. If you translate English verbatim into Russian, you get some nonsense. But I'm almost ready to learn English seriously. 😅

Fair point. When I did languages at school we were taught the 'old-fashioned' way which has been abandoned and which I think is possibly a mistake. Grammar does matter. It's there for a reason.

Some simple and fun techniques can help for vocabulary building. But otherwise it still requires a lot of work)))).
Even my clever translator has to be checked, back-translated. Sometimes the meaning is severely distorted.
And slang also makes it difficult to understand. I have so far memorized "Get off your high horse" and "That's not my cup of tea") ))
