Well, a lot of it was Shannen Doherty for me. I just love her as an actress. She's awesome in Charmed. Just brilliant. BH 90210 was a decent idea. Bonkers and fluffy but also quite clever. And the cast worked really well together, at least at first. And I think it was fairly unusual for the times.
It was the first type of tv series thing which was unusually normal and not overall dramatic ...well it followed lives and that was the golden egg of it. I think.
Trying to remember if there had been lots of stuff like that before. I don't think so.
Don't think so babe , well there was Saved by the bell & the Wonder Years but it was very much aimed at children, 21 jump street was action and more film like - so because this 'new drama' was you know a new thing , one of its kind and a bit ' normal' because back then it was very David Lynch very twin peaks and Blue Velvet ...and quantum leap too , so those type of unusual themes were very much shown i think that cause it was relatable is the reason it was so huge and then .....singles and Friends and Doogie Howser come out and i guess, if i think about this maybe BH was the predecessor of all of that. Alot of things followed after that. Alot of movies followed this i believe.
I did lose interest as time went on but at the beginning it was great. Although, I haven't ever revisited it so god knows what I would think of it now. I did catch a fragment of the new version, an episode where Shannen was guesting. It was OK but not compelling. Bit too predictable.
i might have to check it out myself too haha
