A terrific movie, but very very sad. I don't think I'll ever want to see it again. Only because of the stunningly beautiful shots.

Fair point. I saw it maybe 20x at the cinema. Yeah, the tragedy is hard to take. Just like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. I struggled with both of them (also saw Crouching Tiger multiple times in the cinema) but then thought about Shakespeare or Greek tragedy and that helped me to process it. Flying Daggers is basically a tragic fairy tale - can't remember where I came across that idea but it also helped me to cope. That was one intense film! Exquisitely beautiful and yet so painful. I haven't seen it since it's cinema run. I was intensely immersed in it for a few weeks and that was enough.
