Me, totally exhausted after so-called 'quick' reply to wendi.
Ooh
i appreciate it
so much actually. Mm that book cover is so attractive , certainly iconic - I know there has been some re - production images . making postcard and posters of it! although think my fave dress is her blue satin one.
ah......................
Too tired to go into this (reasons, boring) but, just quickly, yes, I had the LB Cinderella book and it was my top, top fave LB of all the ones (not very many) that I had. Reasons:
1 - she went to 3 dances not just one
2 - the 3 dresses OMG!!!!!!!!!!
And there it is. that is what made you and I fashionistas darhling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111111111111 haha
3 - each one better than the last
I found it magical , god its a bit of a shock to talk about it -in a nice way of course -Explosive
4 - we are talking high fashion moments being presented to tiny girls of -
Say about 3/4 years , i know they had stages - different levels, still do- around 4 stages of reading -but i was still reading the ladybird times tables one at 11 /12 years .I was reading at 3 though. Read all kinds , Humpty Dumpty Club , StoryTeller was another, The Garden Gang , Mr men and Littel Miss books , Even the paper everything that had text i was reading it.
And these large long flash cards a blue box and a red box. Oh , i would have hours creating ...
can't remember what age I was but I was tiny. It was exciting. High fashion!
Yeah feeling you i was small too 3/ 4 babe
Naomi Campbell eat your heart out, lol.
Yeah but she'd look so stunning in that pink - imagine that
5 - the fabric. It's like when I look at Michael's gold leotard. Her dresses are almost as good as that.
let me tell you a story ...............
Back in 1992....its a long running thing with me.....
6 - the folds of the fabric and the light falling on the fabric. More excitement
exactly ...this is ... too close to my own brain
7 - the detail. The pink flowers in her hair on Day One. The sleeves of her dress on Day Two. Plus those pink ribbons. The tiara in her hair on Day Three. I could go on!
Yes she had stars, silver star sparkles in her hair on day two. :0
8 - her grey dress. Surprisingly awesome! That beautiful 50's skirt. The flow and movement of the fabric. Especially when she's running.
In the dark and it was such an engrossing scene picture. it would thrill me i was so into it id take this and a ton others read them in the car being driven to gigs , i cant believcce i am talking about my book haha
9 - she was running against the clock. A strong, athletic Cinderella. Go, girl!!!!!!!!!
Thats like life 2 me
oooh ya make me wanna write gal !
10 - A lot of the scenes were at night.
Oh my god ..yeah exactly
what the hell..yeah my thoughts exa ctly here. mind blown currently i swear seriously babe
So many stories take place during the day. This was night time and so exciting.
Yes......................... yeah
YES. that's what made it so engaging with me
. it was such an attractive pink.................its so nice to know we like this book alot ! too.........................................................................................................................................
, wah! ~the dress on the cover and page 14 , she is running with bright.....say, this ochre orange pumpkin , the detailed background flowers, bushes ...against her grey dress but still she pulls it off. page 20 shes finding the lizards ...and the grey dress still looks beautiflly fitting almost silver .just the general loveliness.
yeah , ;')
11 - the fairy godmother dressed, inexplicably, as a Welsh woman.
magic
12 - her wooden clogs. Healthy feet!
i didnt think of that zin , the golden slipper thing was my thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing haha ...
13 - her running technique! Pretty good (I'm not a runner but it looks good to me)
She is elegant and fierce . And the whole story is elegant and intense . Do you still have your copy i do
14 - that pumpkin!
Yeah see ...wow
15 - the movement of her skirt when she's dancing (pink dress) - omg! Beautiful folds of the fabric as she moves it aside.
All the detail on her fabric , the lace on dress 2 is spectacular and the interior of the ball room was so realistic
16 - The night sky in the background.
.....................
Yes it was so engaging . i would stare at the background and envision being in the pages.
The night sky is a fascinating book to me , i would gaze at that one too.
17 - things I had zero interest in - the Prince,
I liked page 40/41 ole boy was picking up / discovering the slipper. and even on that page, its early morning hours . skies are so dark. The background is as beautiful as the centre standing images.
no, no time for these bitches though they were beautiful once
No thank you.
........
mm kinda liked it haha see..some of my imagination from some of my stories were based around this , It wasn't wishy washy writing though don't get that twisted i never wrote 2 much romance . that folder of mine was a scorned alternative universe
the slipper. Boring. All of that was irrelevant.
I loved it all ! i even loved his white horse , satin , lace , stars , her velvet gown .... just such a perfect fairy tail. ....
For me it was all about the night time, the dynamic between her and the fairy godmother but, most of all, those awesome dresses!
These are just the edited highlights, you understand.
god, i love it . I appreciate it that's for certain . bit stunned really 2 to be honest.I know there is a more sketchy type in 1981 , and there were more Disney types (hated) after that - but this book , is special.. it is like a piece of art. paintings.
Yes!!!!!! Yes, yes. Yes!!!!!!!!!!!
THIS IS IT! Love that we are on the same page like three times here .
day 2 day 2 !!!
Fairy tales often do things in threes but I can't remember if I ever saw another version of Cinderella with her attending 3 dances. At least, the LB version made the deepest impression bc of the lovely pictures. Those clothes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I drew the pink dress in my art exam many years ago ,
I didn't really like that one but then I always preferred Sleeping Beauty as a ballet.
I love ballet too
Not as a book or actual story.
i didnt like snow white i found that quite watery ...l i liked little red riding hood lol that ...now
that was brutal lol
Plus, Sleeping Beauty doesn't really do anything.
But that's what its meant to do . its meant to sleep!
Cinderella isn't exactly fascinating, tbh,
Always been a little core thing of mine
but at least she gets to do stuff.
She gets to blow up stuff and take over the world !
She has to fetch the pumpkin, gather up the 2 lizards,
yeah those lizards were really cute to me -they even had faces too!
cope with a fairy godmother popping up out of the blue,
Another fairy Godmother is Glinda from oz -the dress on she - wow!
get her head around being turned into a princess 3 nights in a row, run home super fast to beat the midnight deadline -
all this sounds like my day to day life here
she doesn't have to hang around draped all over her bed for a hundred years or whatever. Give that SB girl something to DO, fgs!
Don't disturb her zinders , SB is sleeping - shes a lazy bugger that one haha ooh princess and the pea another princess i liked!
The very first ballet I went to was Sleeping Beauty. I can remember it like it was yesterday. Carabosse, her entrance on to the stage, I've never seen anything like it since. Seriously.
its really cool to me that it impressed you . on stage - hey what about phantom of the opera ? how do you rate that ?
bugger me , this was so entrancing 2 me i forgot where i was !
