I was just on an African American discussion board , and they are so excited about this show, these boys , that family are their idols. They were talking about the hatred spewed on this family and someone made this quote : "I think it is a lot of the mostly European and mainstream white folks who are the Post Thriller Fans." And you know what its true. Coming on some of these board some of you as Michael fans needs to be educated. All of these men are ridiculously talented. They each were on countless magazine covers, each had solo albums . Each and everyone of them were celebrated. Shoot even La Toya wrote for SEVENTEEN magazine.

i think what it boils down to is people need to appreciate the jackson 5...i dont know if its because they dont know much abotu them...or they didnt grow up in a family that was fans of them (my mother and aunts were huge J5 fans)...but to completely disregard J5 in relation to mikes success is insane to me! i just dont get it :(

on another note...i cant believe im saying this but DAMN DIGGITY DAMN! Tito looks HELLA good for his age!

I dont want to sound mean, i respect elvis but i do agree with you about the whole change in music etc.. Elvis didnt even `write most` of his songs!!

Yea agree with your analogy. I never quite understood why people bashed jermaine so much, i never really followed on the jacksons up until they start emerging after that dreadful day in june. And i am slowly picking up as to why people say the things they say about Jerm. hmm

I like what I see so far, but one thing is for sure. When you have that many children (even though they are adults now), not everyone is going to be the best anything. I'm surprised so many musical acts came from one group....

I'm a tad bit biased because I LOVEEEE Michael's singing voice! But when Jermaine came out with, Do what they do when you do what they did to me, I may have been about 8 or 9 and I loveddd that song!

You're right Ernestine. Michael did not have success overnight. There are plenty of talented people who go no where, I've seen it happen many times.

I don't remember much from the other brothers, but my mom loved Jackie and my aunts loved Jermaine and I thought Marlon was a cutie...It's true, it was enough Jacksons for everyone to have a little crush on.

What was interesting though is how sensitive they are.

Oh, and I love Tito! He reminds me of my dad

With that said, I do understand the history of the Jackson 5 and I do respect them for that. For many, however, it is the fact that if you 'listen' to how the brothers sound like can you honestly tell me you would buy a record from them if they were new artists. I cringed more than a couple of times listening to them record that song on that reality show.

I am a big fan of the Jackson 5/The Jacksons and while I think that some fans and others should respect the brothers more for their contributions and realize that all the Jackson brothers are talented in their own ways, I have to say that I absolutely agree that without Michael, they wouldn't have made it as far. I think they could have still had some hits, but I really think Michael added that extra "umph" to the group.

When I watch the Jacksons performing without Michael, there is really something missing. It's just really noticeable. There is no one in the group that's as charismatic as Michael. There's a certain magic and spark missing. He was just the perfect lead singer. It will never be the same without him.

However, I did enjoy watching the show and I do think that the brothers should continue on if that's what they wish to do. They are all talented in their own ways and they've been making music all their lives. No need for them to stop now. I wish them the best with their careers, if their new music is good, I will buy it. It will still be missing that spark as far as i'm concerned but of course nothing can be done about it now that MJ is gone, but I will support the brothers if I like the new music.

He is a TRIP!!! Funny, charismatic, approachable, warm, endearing, charming - you name it. And has that "hot dad" thing going on.

He didn't just appear out of the blue in 1982. There was a history.
Yes, Michael did excellent in his own right but it ALWAYS and WILL ALWAYS come back to the family.

They ARE a part of the legacy. They ARE the legacy.
And from what I'm seeing of this show so far they are representing quite well. I worried about them doing this project for fear of exploitation but this is turning out better than I thought.

I wish fans would quit seeing Michael as if separate from his family. If Michael was here, he'd straighten you out on that himself.

I enjoyed the show. I am enjoying seeing the different personalities of the brothers. I love Marlon, Tito and Jackie. Not Jermaine so much, esp having his wife tie his shoelaces like that. That's just wrong!

I thought the show handled Michael's death and funeral very tastefully. They addressed it and spent a little bit of time talking about how they are handling Michael's death and then they moved on. I thought they were going to dedicate a whole show to it before.

This is Michael's family when he was born and this was his family when he died. He's always going to be a part of this family, can't separate them. I am going to continue watching the show. . . the brothers are a trip!

Why can't we just let the brothers have their shine without comparing them to michael/ There is enough to go around without putting anybody down. i love all the brothers equally.The J5 was not just about music, they were a part of the civil rights movement that was going on in the 70's. They broke down racial barriers and open doors for black people so that what Queen Latifer said at the memorial was the truth. that is why they are important to the black community and are black icons.l

Let's all respect the Jackson brothers and their efforts. They are not in the same league as Michael, true. But they are LEGENDS ... yes, all FIVE OF THEM, and anyone who does not acknowledge that is a fool!

I thought the show was...kinda interesting, kinda boring. I don't hate the brothers, but there were a few comments that irritated me. I might watch if I have free time when it's on, but I'm not that interested in it.

I know so much about the J5 and I'm 20, heck I have a huge preference for Jackson 5/The Jacksons work from that era. I think everything is awesome about it. Although I do think MJ is the star of there. He awesome as a member of the J5 too. And the group is too! :D

Although I do like His Motown solo albums too.

And now I have no reason to type anything because you've said pretty much everything I've thought. People need to leave them brothers alone. Let them have a little shine.

I have mixed feelings about the show, but overall I liked it. It gave me a chance to see their personalities and see why even though Michael had issues with them sometimes (and one in particular) he loved them and spent time with them when he could.

I almost wish Jermaine WASN'T on the show, but w/o him I'd have nothing to laugh at. That man provides SUCH comedy it's ridiculous! I'm not a psychologist and I've already figured out what his issue is and probably has been since the day the brothers left his dispensable ass at Motown.

I thought the show was okay. I have respect for them because they are Michael's brothers, and I know it was very hard for them to lose him. But The Jackson Five was only as successful as they were because of Michael, and Michael himself tried to distance himself from them.
He always loved them as his brothers, but he wanted to do his own thing, and obviously he succeeded. The other brothers have never had a successful career, so I wish them luck with that now. I hope they don't think it will be the same without Michael though because it won't be.
Even when people talk about them, they are pretty much known as "Michael's brothers", lol.

The part with Jermaine getting all upset and claiming that he stayed with Motown out of "loyalty" about had me laughing. Right, and they had never discussed this ever before, until the cameras were on for their TV show? No, I'm sure they approached him many times about it before that.
