Re: The Jacksons - A Family Dynasty (Live TV Stream)

Are you serious. Some of you fans have no idea what you're talking about. Believe it or not , the J5 wasn't all about Mike. Each and every brother had their own fans and its sad you guy cant accept that. My parents , friends parents , were in love with Jackie and Marlon. Black girls each had a brother. Black people looked up to that Whole family , because what they had to over come and what they had to deal with. Mainstream America tried to down play their talent and said the Osmonds were better. Tehy said Donny was better than Mike. Young black kids had children their age to look up too. That family had hits after hits. Cartoon, Tv show. It was unheard of for black folks. And people got upset when Jamie Fox said on Bet awards We HAd Him First. As an MJ fan educate yourself.
I was just on an African American discussion board , and they are so excited about this show, these boys , that family are their idols. They were talking about the hatred spewed on this family and someone made this quote : "I think it is a lot of the mostly European and mainstream white folks who are the Post Thriller Fans." And you know what its true. Coming on some of these board some of you as Michael fans needs to be educated. All of these men are ridiculously talented. They each were on countless magazine covers, each had solo albums . Each and everyone of them were celebrated. Shoot even La Toya wrote for SEVENTEEN magazine.
Calotte 12. I would agree.....I took that personally as an insult to MJ with that commercial...why was Elvis who changed music? Hed broke so many records and broke so many color barriers and toehr barries...WTF! I'm so digusted with that! Michael clearly changed music even those in the industy would agree. I simply can't stand the commemrcial
Saw both episodes, my take:
Marlon - the best damn thing that ever happened about this show!!!!! He's funny & gracious and got a lot of spunk & charisma. Also got a very, VERY good lookin' daddy thing going on.
Jackie - MY HEART bled when he started crying - he's not afraid to die - killed me when he said that. Honest, charming and focused.
Tito - the business man, the rock - but comes off cold, not as charming as Jackie or as charismatic as Marlon, but he's intent on making this reunion happen. Out of all the brothers, he's the one most vested in this reunion concert as a means to catapult his first solo project. And has the FINEST set of sons - they made me cry when they spoke about their uncle Michael.
Jermaine. Damn. A hot mess. He hammed it up more than a ham sandwich. How DARE he ever sit there & cry because he stayed in Motown to be loyal to Berry Gordy because he started them up? HOW DARE he lie like that????? And don't get me started on the "Tribute" - "Solo album" - "Ditching the photo shoot" - "Unsure about doing the reunion concert" - Sit DOWN Jermaine. He doesn't want to be a part of this reunion and is only doing it because A & E filmed this show.
Overall - I give it a B
That is not completely true.
My dad and mom grew up during the Jackson 5 era and they both agreed that Michael carried those brothers. Michael's pure talented would had carried him regardless if he was part of the Jackson 5 or not.
With that said, I do understand the history of the Jackson 5 and I do respect them for that. For many, however, it is the fact that if you 'listen' to how the brothers sound like can you honestly tell me you would buy a record from them if they were new artists. I cringed more than a couple of times listening to them record that song on that reality show.
This is not to take away from what they have done, but simply a fact. Michael was always the star of that group from the beginning. Without him, they would had most likely ending up like most local bands here in Gary. From what my dad told me, there were more than a couple in this area during the 60s who song better than the brothers.
I am a big fan of the Jackson 5/The Jacksons and while I think that some fans and others should respect the brothers more for their contributions and realize that all the Jackson brothers are talented in their own ways, I have to say that I absolutely agree that without Michael, they wouldn't have made it as far. I think they could have still had some hits, but I really think Michael added that extra "umph" to the group.
When I watch the Jacksons performing without Michael, there is really something missing. It's just really noticeable. There is no one in the group that's as charismatic as Michael. There's a certain magic and spark missing. He was just the perfect lead singer. It will never be the same without him.
However, I did enjoy watching the show and I do think that the brothers should continue on if that's what they wish to do. They are all talented in their own ways and they've been making music all their lives. No need for them to stop now. I wish them the best with their careers, if their new music is good, I will buy it. It will still be missing that spark as far as i'm concerned but of course nothing can be done about it now that MJ is gone, but I will support the brothers if I like the new music.
I really enjoyed the show overall though. They don't always get along as with any family, but you can tell they all love eachother. Marlon and Tito have great personalities I have to say. Marlon has become my fave after watching the show. He's a funny guy and seems real sensible and nice too. Jackie seems sweet.
As for Jermaine...ugh just no comment lol.
WRONG.
They have always said this. This is not new.
Michael IS one of the Jackson 5.
Michael IS one of the Jacksons.
He didn't just appear out of the blue in 1982. There was a history.
Yes, Michael did excellent in his own right but it ALWAYS and WILL ALWAYS come back to the family.
They ARE a part of the legacy. They ARE the legacy.
And from what I'm seeing of this show so far they are representing quite well. I worried about them doing this project for fear of exploitation but this is turning out better than I thought.
I wish fans would quit seeing Michael as if separate from his family. If Michael was here, he'd straighten you out on that himself.
John Lucas
thats what I want to know lolso is this on youtube yet
I beg to differ!Mike does not have the BEST voice in the entire WORLD.
He did nor jjust popo out of the sair in 1982 when thriller came out. QUOTE]

Sorry if I'm not allowed to post these here.
I haven't watched yet but is it worth it?
WOW. What a trainwreck this thread turned into. With love again... are all of the younger fans (as well as many others as well) who know little or absolutely nothing about the journey that the J5 went through trying to tell everyone here that Michael didn't learn a damn thing about this business while he was with the group? He did what almost all "Visionaries" and "Dreamers" do. He took every little thing that he learned those 7 or so years he was with The J5, and he used it to become the "Savvy Super-Pop Star" he ultimately became. It's called character-building and GROWING.
