I haven't watched the whole thing. He's too boring. I watched the Exile On Main Street bit twice bc I couldn't understand what he was saying. He seems to start off as if he thinks the album is indeed overrated but then declares that it isn't.
Middle-aged guy fancies himself as a rock critic but doesn't have what it takes. That's how it came across to me. As for the albums he's looking at, I haven't listened to all of them or not all the way through. I do think the Springsteen album and F.Mac are overrated although - did he explain what he meant? Overrated bc they are a bit crap or overrated bc they are not as influential as people claim? It was all too vague.
I haven't listened to every song on Pet Sounds or Sgt. Pepper. I only know that endless numbers of musicians rate both of them as having been very important. So maybe it's just a generational thing. An album can be very important in its era but isn't necessarily going to be loved by later generations.
I got that but he was SO boring he completely did my head in!I was more curious about what you think of the album selection, who cares about the old geezer commenting on it lol
Well, I ain't listening to The Wall. I heard most of it on the radio back in the day. Boring. I never listened to Nirvana. I love Teen Spirit and that's it. So I have no idea if that album is as good as its meant to be bc I didn't bother with it. I was never convinced that grunge was as influential as people made it out to be but perhaps I just wasn't paying attention. I was pretty detached from rock music by then. Oasis are definitely overrated but, again, that's just my subjective bias bc I can't stand them.I listened to all these albums at one point but I only really rate Born to Run lol
I think that's always the case, though, isn't it? Dylan is madly influential but loads of people can't stand him - mainly bc of his voice - so I think even an album or an artist that is really important will never have universal approval. My only conclusion is that the most popular albums in history are also really loathed by many lol
