Jermaine mentioned "What's Your Life" being somewhere around 1983

Steve Pocaro said "Chicago 1945" was recorded a few weeks after Thriller video was released and a few months before Victory tour, which would make it 1984

If you’re referring to the excerpt in his book, a year was never specifically mentioned to my knowledge.

The timeline of “Chicago 1945” is also in flux. Apparently Steve changed the story late last year and now claims it was done in December 1982.

I’m relatively certain John never confirmed the dates of any of those songs, though I could be wrong about “Make or Break.” He said “Alright Now” was older than “Make or Break,” which could mean a million different things. I know for sure that “Do You Know” is from May 1986 though, as studio calendars from Hayvenhurst say as much.

Not trying to be pedantic here! Just trying to come to a firm conclusion :)

The timeline of “Chicago 1945” is also in flux. Apparently Steve changed the story late last year and now claims it was done in December 1982.

I’m relatively certain John never confirmed the dates of any of those songs, though I could be wrong about “Make or Break.” He said “Alright Now” was older than “Make or Break,” which could mean a million different things. I know for sure that “Do You Know” is from May 1986 though, as studio calendars from Hayvenhurst say as much.

I’ve met John a few times and he confirmed Make or Break being 1985 and Alright Now being done sometime during Victory. He also confirmed that Do You Know was done during the very early stages of Bad and said it was roughly 1985. He also confirmed Another Part of Me was being worked on in January 1984 while MJ was recovering

I know it’s hard to pin point specific years because MJ was working on songs on and off. All love!

I’ve spoken with someone who knows the editors of the Black & White magazine (which to my knowledge is the only source to ever cite these two titles), and apparently they don’t exist. It was a rumor they bought into but weren’t able to correct. Of course I can’t confirm this myself!

Fascinating! This is definitely contradictory to the session calendars, as “Do You Know…” was listed on 9th May 1986 for the first time that year. Very interested to know the truth here.

Thanks for sharing this! Plenty of falsehoods are going around and I always unnecessarily try to correct them lol. Not my place at all. It is nice to know a definite creation year for “Make or Break.”
 
So this is supposed to be Tomboy but here it is called stop that by zapp & roger. You hear a faint heehee at 55 sec and an aauw at 3.50 as pointed out by someone below the video in the comments.
