They're on crack...Janet on top of Michael , even worse Madonna on No. 2 over Mike and Stevie :lmao: pure comedy.

Oh boy, read the whole thing...these people are such idiots...Usher on No. 21 and Queen on No. 87

well it's factual.. based on US charts over the years.

in its essence it's quite meaningless considering the differences between the artists (career age, album/single quantity) and for me, the fact that most 'top charting' material is far off from my favourite tracks of these mainstream artists.

but it's an interesting point of reference to how each artist has charted in the US.

I'm really surprised about Brook Benton being here. I thought he was kinda obscure. His duets with Dinah Washington are funny. He has this really smooth voice. Randy Travis had a big country hit in the 80s with a remake of Brook's "Just A Matter Of Time".

In the US, Queen was one of those groups like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Rush, Van Halen, KISS, or the many 1970s prog rock bands. They were more popular for albums and concert tours than singles. They sold mostly to the rock audience (AOR) who didn't listen to Top 40 radio. Since this is for biggest singles acts, they wouldn't apply. If you notice, there's very few modern acts, because on the old charts, the acts had to sell actual singles. Today's charts is mostly based on radio play, since few songs are actually released as a "single" like the 45s in the past.

Based on the month and year alone, Michael should be number one! lol. I'll let you all figure out why on your own.

Not if it's based on U.S. billboard data...

Many artists release a lot more stuff than MJ, have had more hits spread out across different billboard charts, etc.

As someone said earlier, MJ did incredibly well given how little he's done in his career. Not saying he hasn't done a lot too, but if you compare the amount of work he's put out with some of the other artists on that list, he's done well. Had he done more, he'd surely be only behind the Beatles, and possibly even number one.

There's no way on a list that tallies billboard data he'd be number one though. The Beatles are the obvious number one on that list.

1 The Twist - Chubby Checker

What's this song? I've never heard of it  It's THAT famous?

Never heard of The Twist? You must be really young, lol. Then there's "Let's Twist Again", and so on. :p Chubby still performs today, and looks young for 66.
Original 1960 version

1988 version with The Fat Boys

thanks for the list and it is a trip because of the way things went down and we all got our own opinion on the matter. MJ should be way closer to number 1 most people know that deep down i think.

What kind of opinion can there be? This list isn't someone's opinion or a vote like most lists or awards, but is based on chart performance and sales figures. This can be researched.
