Shout on Invincible?

Jam and Shout are both fast-paced songs produced by Teddy Riley that deal with social problems. Jam appeared on Dangerous in 1991 and had a video, while Shout was unfortunately only released as the b-side of Cry in 2001. Would you have liked to have Shout on Invincible?

I think if there had been more original B-sides it would have helped with single sales.

To answer the question - maybe. We know the album is too long - Maybe replace 2 or 3 of the weaker songs with Shout, which is slightly better.
 
Shout is pretty bad, but it’s probably better than some of the wretched ballads on Invincible, so I’d take it over You Are My Life. Still, nothing can save Invincible, it needed a complete re-do.
 
Teddy Riley should just finish producing the song as if it was supposed to appear on Invincible in 2001 and then it can be released on the next posthumous album. The vocals actually need to be a little louder.
 
I think if it's the version thats on the internet, no. But if we were to get a new mix that wasn't so muddy and the vocals were clearer - yes. That said, it needed some lyrical overhaul because the writing is somewhat mid overall. But then you need to cut songs out, maybe replace some. But, that's a whole different discussion (for which there are dozens of threads on this forum).
 
Looking at the preliminary tracklist above, there seemed to be some confusion as to whether Shout should come before or after 2000 Watts. What do you think about that?

It sounds cheap, not hard enough, guitars mixed too much in the background, awful drum sound and Michael is incomprehensible.

The track needed a lot of work to become good

true, it needs harder drums and louder vocals and more guitars

After the mess that Teddy Riley did with the Cascio songs, he could actually mix Shout properly to make up for it
 
No. It's fine as a B-side on a single but overall it's not album-worthy. You can barely hear his vocals on the verses.

According to an earlier version of the 'Invincible' album (September, 2001):

- 'Speechless' is the 8th track

- '2000 Watts' is the 9th track

- 'Shout' is the 10th track

- 'Don't Walk Away' is the 11th track

It was also reported back then that there were also plans for inclusion of a bonus track on the vinyl version of the album.
 
The album tracklist we received isn't tough enough, in my opinion, to carry Shout. You'd have to add Escape, Blue Gangster, We've Had Enough and Get Your Weight Off in order for Shout to exist.

I can't see it fitting on the album at all considering the other songs that are on there.
 
It's not a good song, but it would have fit the album and improved the pacing. Replacing it with "You Are My Life" will always be a mistake.

It is okay but nothing special and I can barely understand what Michael is even saying. But I do think a better produced and mixed version should have been on Invincible.
 
I guess because people don't buy "anniversary albums" any more. Thriller 40 struggled to sell 0.1 million copies. People simply don't need to buy more copies of albums they've already got.

Sony would have better luck releasing a full album with 15-20 new songs. At least that way people might actually get to hear them.

I think Shout is good enough to be a focus track and stand up on its own, instead of rushing it out as filler after Lady In My Life.
