Save The Children UK Attention if you are donating re: Michael Jackson

Thank you for providing us with this list of charities we can donate to instead. I am horrified by their attitude; it more or less says in the letter that while Michael was proved not guilty and acquitted so where's the problem? It is a shame that such a charity as Save the Children has made this decision because they'll suffer and moreover the children will suffer as we are now put off donating to them. Fortunately I have not donated to them and will not be doing so either!

Sadly there's no such thing as innocent until proven guilty anymore. Its 'we believe you're guilty no matter what.'

I´m not sure if it´s a decision from Save the children in UK or if it´s more worldwide

Yeah that is why in the first post of this thread and in the link with all the info. It is recommended to check out other regions as well since UK has choosen this so far.

The safest and best way of donating is the direct way, meeting the disadvantaged in person and handing them your attention and gift, or at least send it on their direct home address (for those who have one, that is..), get their number to keep contact and make sure they got the aid. ... I don't trust NGO's too much.

Yes I agree you are so right. These charities are so concerned with there name and image. It seems to be a top priority with Save The Children. I know this is one charity that I will be crossing off my list.

I've been donating to Make-a-Wish (4 times now including 6/25 and 8/29 for the past couple of years) and they haven't complained - sounds idiotic to turn down donations inspired by someone that spent his whole life getting people to donate to charities. Honestly, most of my interest in charity work comes from growing up seeing a public figure like Michael Jackson. Of all the charities, Make-a-Wish seems most in line with the idea of Neverland, escapism, etc. for those that need it.

just got an email inregards to my cancelled donation. didnt read it just deleated it. should i care what B.S they come out with? reading it will prob only wind me up futher

Just...sad :(

I've got a contact at Action For Children and I'm gonna get their own stance on donating in Michael's name.

i saw an advert on u.k tv yesterday for save the children, the images on their ad were heartbreaking as you could imagine, after seeing their ad it makes me even more angry and upset,
