Sam Cooke

Deep Soul: The Uprising Of Sam Cooke parts 3 through 6 show just how gifted Cooke was. More than just a voice, Cooke combined terrific song writing and producing with a knack for finding new talent and a shrewd business sense. He was a trailblazer for the music industry in many respects. It leaves one wondering just how Cooke would've guided his company SAR, beyond Soul music's birth and into the 1970's. What if?

If this documentary lasted 100 hours I'd gladly watch it all, it's truly fascinating look at American music history from the people who lived it.

You're welcome. It's been rumored that Sam's death was a mafia hit because he refused to sell SAR and his publishing to them. There were some holes in the official story of his death, and some of Sam's family & friends didn't believe it. Sam's manager Allen Klein was going to have an investigation done, but Sam's wife talked him out of it.
