Riots in Tottenham, North London *VIOLENT ACTS NOW SPREADING!*

Over the last day in the UK we've been shocked at the scenes in Tottenham. The day started with a peaceful protest outside a police station over an incident the week before where a known offender was shot dead in an exchange of fire with police. But later in the day things began to escalate and two police cars & a bus were set on fire, which also included some buildings too. There were also heavy clashes between riot police and "protesters" throughout the evening and night.

Shocking images! But also emerging today are more disturbances this time in Enfield which is not near Tottenham either so the reason for this is a mystery!http://londonist.com/2011/08/breaking-news-police-and-rioters-clash-in-enfield.php

Its just sad unfounded and scary the way people act .. There is no excuse for being evil like this.
NO their isnt - thats not how to solve or change anything. Its like people are just looking for an
excuse to show their anger and hatred. Not to help make that change or heal the situations we face.

Thing is, people just went there to have a fight. So it ruined the original campaigners protest.

Same riots keep happening over and over across the Channel. And always for the same reasons. It's extremely sad, but it also worries me for the future. I don't know the situation in the UK of course, but I believe there are only a few differences with France. I've been working in the same kind of neighborhood for the last 11 years. The situation has only become worse, and more and more violent. I see those kids, smart and motivated, full of dreams, being crushed by an education system that only makes them feel inadequate, a society which reject them while saying they should blend in. Not to mention in some truly live in some kind of schizophrenic situations between a family with strong cultural values, while being born and educated in a society with different values. They live in a very violent environment, where the rules are extremely tough. I watch them leave still young but with a lot of anger towards their families and the rest of society.

Of course no one can approve what happened in Tottenham, it's stupid and pointless. But unless measures are really taken to take care of those kids, some European countries will keep having 2 parts of their society getting further and further apart.

So awful.....whatever the backstory is (and let's be honest we DON'T know for sure who was wrong or right) this was just senseless. People just turned up wanting to act like thugs for the hell of it. Not cool.

Even further...now Peckham! BillieJean09 please check that your family is ok. I know you don't live there anymore but I know you're from that area of London!

Sad, too sad. Again, 30 years after the riots in Brixton...

Don't know what to say, except that it has affected me a lot... got some memories from Peckham...

I wish this would never happen again, but maybe that's only a dream.

This is just a tragedy...cant the government stop this?...I mean its the UK...its not like its a 3rd world country...I am so sorry for all those of you that live there and have to live in fear...it is just wrong what is happening...people are losing jobs I am sure because of all of the damage to businesses.

OMJ  ALL that violence don't solve anything... PLEASE everyone KEEP SAVE :better:
Someone "chrashed" his car in our Bakery making the bakery like a bomb "exploded" there and even then... I had chills running over my spine and thats NOTHING compared to the fire and the violence in the London... :worried:

This has turned from a peaceful protest to a riot to an excuse to loot the shops.

According to a BBC News reporter, he has seen 10 year olds looting alcohol and cigarettes but has not seen a single police officer.

The riots have even spread from London to Birmingham..

^^ KMJ do you know why they are doing it?

Apparently it started because a young man was shot twice for close to no reason :( what a shit world we live in :(

Same here :-/ 7 miles down the road from me at a tube station there's big police presence.

BBC News confirms windows smashed and a car on fire in Ealing, 7 miles down the road from me :(

Police have confirmed there has been a non-fatal shooting of a man in Croydon.

BBC News just saying Ealing Shopping Centre on fire :mello: I've been there loads! I even worked in Ealing Broadway before my current work place!

that picture is terrible...my goodness.how are they being allowed to get away with this.I am sorry I live in the US and I am a little confused..as to why and how this is happening.

The police force are outnumbered by the rioters.

Which doesnt take much.police numbers in the uk are very poor.
