During the History Tour in 1997 Michael performed in Lyon and whilst there on June 13, 1997 visited the Institut Lumière, a Living Museum of Cinema and Theatre and where the first film was invented. Michael in the theatre with Denis Troux and Thierry Fremoux, Head of the Museum.

The Lumière Institute is at the Lumiere factory premises, where in 1895, the Lumière brothers invented the Film. The first film was "La Sortie des Usines Lumière". The Lumière family mansion was purchased by the city of Lyon, in 1975. Decision was made to create the Institut Lumière which opened in 1982, which housed classical and rare works of art surrounding Cinema. A 260 seat theatre was also built which opened in 1995, in the presence of 30 filmmakers from around the world who came to mark the centenary of cinema,
