Recording producer John Dote’ remembers the “King of Pop” all too well. It was during the 80’s when Dote’ had produced t.v. themes including Dynasty and Dallas and struck a deal with Michael’s father Joe Jackson to promote the “Bad” album on Epic Records. Michael and John became close friends. They spent quite a bit of time at the Jackson’s residence in Encino, California. During that time on Mothers Day, John and Michael wanted to surprise Michael’s mother. They went to Terry York Rolls Royce dealership in L.A. to purchase a brand new Rolls Royce which was white and they tied a bow and placed it on the hood of the car. They drove it back to Jackson’s home and they invited Catherine Jackson out to the driveway to give her a mothers day gift. But she did not like the color. So they drove back to the dealership and picked out a red Rolls. When they presented it to mother Jackson she was “thrilled”.

Katherine wrote this in her book My Family.
“Michael was very generous with his family. My children often threw parties for me and hired my favourite country musician Floyd Kramer to perform. I recall a few days before one of my parties when my dughter Janet suspiciously asked me what my favourite colour was. On the occasion I was presented with a ribbon and told to follow it to the other end. The ribbon led me all the way to the parking lot where before me stood a beautiful shiny Rolls Royce”

In the pic with Michael ~ Legendary music promotor Pete Bennett pictured at the Memorial Stadium, in NY where the Jacksons were performing. Amongst several promotions for the Jacksons, Pete Bennett was also responsible for the deal that saw Jacksons records on cereal boxes and for negotiating the contract that saw the signing of Michael and the Jacksons to Epic records in 1977. During Michael's arrest in 2003 Bennett expressed the belief that he believes Michael incapable of hurting another human being and that his generosity attracts scam artists. ~
[Edited]~ "It was terrible to see Michael arrested and a shame that they put him in handcuffs. He didn’t kill anybody. Whatever happened about being innocent until proven guilty,’’ asked Bennett.
"The problem with Michael is that he cares too much about people. And even though it seems to get him in trouble, I don’t think there is anything that anyone can say, not his family or advisers, that will ever change him. Michael is always going to be Michael. And he always will be an easy mark,’’ said Bennett.
Bennett, signed Michael and his brothers on with CBS’ Epic Records in the mid-1970s.
Beverly Johnson, a model, actress and writer, was the first black model ever to grace the cover of Vogue magazine in August 1974. She appeared on more than 500 magazine covers, including Glamour. Bennett said that Jackson had the hots for the sultry, black star. "He had an eye for pretty girls, especially Johnson. She was about 25 and Michael was 16. But Beverly, I believe was dating Arthur Ashe at the time,’’ Bennett said.
"Often when I would be in his company, Michael would point a girl out and admire her looks or figure.
"I don’t know when people started believing that Michael had a thing for young boys. Does he like kids? Yes, he’s always been that way. Michael has always been playful and thoughtful.’’
And shy, almost to a fault, according to Bennett. "He was always with his mother or reading the Bible. And often he had two birds, a parrot and a crow on his shoulder. He was a nice, quiet kind of kid.’’
Bennett called Jackson’s alleged out-of-court settlement with his first young accuser a strategic victory, one that many celebrities would have opted for in a similar situation. "I do believe Michael paid the boy’s family because he didn’t want to go through a major media scene, an investigation and court hearing,’’ claimed Bennett.
Bennett called Jackson a media magnet whose eccentric habits will eternally attract criticism and money-grabbers. "His talent, facial surgery, holding the baby over the balcony railing, whatever Michael does is news,’’ he said.
"Look at what happened when he went out on the Las Vegas strip after being arrested. People love him and I don’t think that will ever change.’’
"What I find hard to believe is that if Michael is this pedophile, then where are all the other boys. Pedophilia is not something that you turn on and off. That’s the one thing that seems unbelievable and I think strengthens Michael’s case.’’

Pete Bennett also worked as a promotor for The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Elvis Presley, Janet Jackson and several of the top stars. Pete Bennett died in 2012.
Caring Michael ~ Michael with Pete Townsend ~ "I was pleased Michael was cleared. My only experience of his dealings with children is that he's unselfishly helped every cause, and individual child, I have sent his way. In one case, he hired a circus for the Down's syndrome children of a special school, and showed up happily, and yes, in childlike enthusiasm, to watch the show with them. This little girl believed she was Michael’s future wife, and he so kindly allowed her to sit next to him, as his future bride. "His feathers may be badly burned," Townshend continued, "and he may be damaged in other ways too, but he is something of an angel.”
Michael gets into the groove on stage with the Jacksons at the Doobie Brothers 10th Anniversary celebrations at the Friars Club Beverley Hills in 1980. During the celebrations Michael and his brothers joined the Doobie brothers, Sam and Dave, Kenny Loggins, Rufus Thomas and several other stars on stage for a rendition of the Doobies song 'Soul Man' and highlight of the night was Michael's, Kenny Loggins and Michael McDonalds 40 minute rendition of 'Shake Your Body down to the Ground'
