Jackson 5 'early performances' ~ Long before the Jackson 5 were eventually signed to Motown, father Joe had booked the Jackson 5 into several bar venues in order for the boys to get experience and exposure. Michael would tell in 'Moonwalk' that these were often sleazy and his mother was not happy that they were exposed to some of the things they saw at such a young age. Michael, aged 7 is pictureddancing with a customer.
One such bar was the Prairie Moon in Winslow, Arizona (now torn down) which they played in the summer of 1966. One resident described the bar as " ..in addition to housing “ladies of the night,” the bar also drew in truckers and other travelers with illegal gambling and plenty of alcohol. The bar was also popular for live music.
