Prince Michael Jackson Talks Carrying on Father Michael Jackson's Philanthropic Legacy at 2017 Billboard Music Awards

Michael Jackson would be so proud.

E! News' Sibley Scholes chatted with the late performer's eldest son, Prince Michael Jackson, moments before he's set to take the stage to present at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards. Prince Michael dished on how he's continuing to keep his father's memory alive, now eight years after his tragic passing.

"I have a tattoo of [Jackson's album] Dangerous on my calf," the 20-year-old shared. "He has the red shirt, the red tie and the red arm band. I'm also planning a Smooth Criminal tattoo!"
As for what it means to continue walking in Michael's footsteps toward his own level of stardom, Prince Michael shared, "I think it's an honor to be here because I'm proud of the success my father created on his own and what he worked and built himself up to be."

He continued, "To see everybody here that is either inspired by him or they want to pursue the same goal, it's inspiring to me and to future generations."

And while big sister Paris Jacksongarners more and more notoriety on the film and modeling scene, Prince Michael is focused pursuing his own passion for philanthropy and production.
"Right now I just finished up the school semester," he told us. "During the school semester we have a student organization called Heal Los Angeles and we focus on child hunger, child abuse and homelessness in Los Angeles county and the L.A. city."
Additionally, Prince Michael said, "I've just finished production on another video that I'm doing for a Swedish artist called Nano."

Prince Jackson rocked the Billboard Awards pink carpet Sunday in a bomber jacket and bovver boots.
The son of the late Michael Jackson was at the awards show in Las Vegas as one of the night's presenters.
Prince, 20, paired his black jacket and footwear with white jeans and a dark gray t-shirt.

He tends to keep a low profile when it comes to celebrity and his decision to attend the Billboard Awards marked a rare public occasion for the youngster.

Casual style: Prince paired his black jacket and footwear with white jeans and a dark gray t-shirt for his presenting gig at the music awards show

Earlier on Sunday, Prince shared a selfie to his Instagram.
He is seen looking directly into the camera as he sits at a window with the gleaming skyscrapers of Vegas behind him.
He wears a black tank top that reveals the top of his densely tattooed left arm.

I'm watching the Billboard awards right now, and hope I haven't missed him. He, Cher, Celine and Bruno are the ONLY reasons I'm watching. I just watched and read those interviews with Prince.

I'm so proud of Prince, my heart is full of pride.

I'm so glad I waited it out-he gave out the last award of Artist of the Year to Drake and sounded really happy for Drake breaking the record. I love how down to earth he is and that's the way you treat artists. You're excited for each other's successes.

Good job-loved what he said about Michael in his speech and both of his interviews too.



(He looked good too, although I think he's cuter when his hair falls a bit on his forehead-kinda how those curls fell on Michael's forehead starting with Thriller-)

He did a great job. Very natural on stage and in his interviews. He never shy's away from talking about his dad which is nice. Hope he has great success with his company because he could be a real powerhouse in the industry.

Have to say though, that was a long awards show.

Prince Michael Jackson is taking his turn in the spotlight.

Michael Jackson’s eldest child took the stage of Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena to present the top artist award at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards.

“I’m honored to be here on a show that meant so much to my father and made him the recipient of many awards,” he said before presenting Drake with the top prize. “He has broken the record for the most Billboard Music Awards in a single year, Drake!”

Earlier on the red carpet, he opened up about wearing his late father’s necklace that was gifted to him by his sister Paris. “I don’t take it off,” he told E! News Live on the Red Carper. “It’s my lucky pendant at this point.”

“I think it’s an honor to be here because I’m proud of the success that my father created on his own. He worked and built himself up,” he added. “To see everybody here that is either inspired by him or they want to pursue the same goal, it’s inspiring to me and to future generations.”
