Primavera

Well okay, Primavera means "Spring" in Italian. Even though we are in the Autumn or Fall, I don't want you to wait until next year's spring to hear and see this beautiful video, made as a dedication to Michael by Isabella.

If you love the music, then you can listen to the full piece here:

Michael, Beautiful Beautiful Beautiful Boy

The song "Beautiful Boy" was written and composed by John Lennon for his own son: Sean, but it's very fitting in this video to Michael.
He was certainly no accident, he was a gift from God!

Omigoodness, this is my video! Haha. Awesome. Glad you liked it. :)

Michael and the Three Stooges

In a 1999 interview with MTV, Michael Jackson revealed that one of the driving forces behind his video concepts was the Three Stooges. “My dream was to always make short little films, because I’m a big fan of the Three Stooges, and I love watching Curly, who I think is wonderful. They make these 15-minute shorts, and I said, ‘I’d love to do something like that some day,’ and ["Thriller"] was my opportunity.”

In the recent MJ memorial, Marlon Jackson said growing up they always watched the Three Stooges. MJ wrote a somehow revealing foreword of a book about Curly. Here is MJ's foreword from Joan Howard Mauer's 1985 book, 'Curly':

curly_mj4word2.jpg

41250025_p.jpg

"My memories of the Three Stooges, and especially Curly, are still with me to this day. In my childhood, around our house in Indiana, it was a daily ritual for me to watch the Three Stooges on television. All my brothers loved them then and even more so now. Chaplin and the Stooges are the greatest to me--their humor survives each generation. Even my mother love to see us have fun watching them. Rehearsing as a team and watching the Stooges were the only times we got together as a whole family.

The Stooges' craziness helped me to relax and to escape life's burdens. They influenced me so much that I even wrote a song about them.

Curly was definitely my favorite Stooge. He was unquestionably a comic genius who understood ad-libbing better than anyone. I loved the Stooges' slapstick action and especially Curly's funny noises and his silly, child-like mannerisms and attitudes. He should be honored much more than what has been done for him in the past, for everyone who loves him.

As a kid, I imitated Curly all the time, and I enjoyed feeling superior to and smarter than those three, silly grownups. I owe so much to them that I feel they belong to me. That's why I had to write the Foreword for this book.

Joan, the author, asked me whether I thought that Curly had suffered when he had to shave off his wavy head of hair in order to become a Stooge. My answer was that I was sure he did, that underneath the smile may have been a tear--after all, he was a clown. But it is our duty as entertainers to satisfy the people--to give of our souls even if it hurts.

Curly had a magic. He was God-gifted--a natural. Even when he didn't intend to be funny he was magic.

Today, thirty-three years after his death, Curly still has legions of fans because he was a natural. Such people appeal to the masses young and old--like the color blue.

I love everything about Curly and I would give anything to really know what he was like.

Thanks to the author, this book will clear up much of the mystery of Curly for me and his millions of devoted fans."

Vaccaro's cache includes a handwritten note from Jackson to nephew Taj inside a portfolio that contained Three Stooges memorabilia. The note, next to a book about the Three Stooges, reads: "Taj, This book is valuable, I was only 3 years old when it came out. Cherish it always. Love, Uncle Doo Doo M.J."

The Three Stooges humor

The Stooges' comic style was brash and brazen and was characterized by such cartoonishly violent acts as slapping, punching, eye-poking, and hair-pulling, all punctuated by exaggerated sound effects, and they often attacked one another with hammers, saws, and a variety of sharp and blunt objects. Derided by critics for many years for their lowbrow anarchy, their sheer longevity forced many critics to concede that the team exhibited expert comic timing and a mastery of burlesque-style humour. Moe was the bully of the act whose pugilistic tendencies required little provocation. Curly, the most popular member of the team with both audiences and critics, was the childlike patsy who was often on the receiving end of Moe's abuse, and who expressed himself through a variety of squeals, grunts, physical antics, and cries of “Woo-woo-woo!” Larry was the somewhat passive middleman who was usually given less to do, but who proved a good foil for both Moe and Curly. The team made 97 short comedies during the “Curly years” (1934–46), with the period from 1938 to 1942 considered exceptionally strong.

If - Rudyard Kipling

Recently I went out to dinner with some friends. One of them recited two lines of the poem below, written by Rudyard Kipling. As soon as I got home I searched for the complete poem and just fell in love with it. Not only do I love this poem it reminds me of Michael, of his trials and tribulations, his doubts and frustrations....Will You Be There ?
For he is always with us....."I'll Be There"

SUGGESTION : Play the first video, for the music, while reading the poem!

michael_jackson2.jpg

IF you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools
,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
' Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

This video fits perfectly with the poem because of the music.

The Love of Michael Jackson

Michael, I love you so much! I tell you that every day, hoping you can hear me and you know. I'm so sorry for all that you had to suffer in this life. Thank you for sharing your wonderful gifts with the world, and your immense love!

Who doesn't remember seeing that picture of Michael sitting on his knees on the piano stool behind the concert piano, wearing a purple shirt and one red sock and one yellow sock.

2-3233.jpg

Just a life like statue of a man and his horse.

3-3222.jpg

The mannequins occupied the many rooms and hallways at Neverland and gave it a more homey, lived-in feel. They made Michael feel less lonely since so many people could not be themselves around him, it was hard for him to relate to everyday people who did not want something from him.

3-3224.jpg

Another stunningly beautiful painting.

3-3229.jpg

If you get a chance check out the video on YouTube of Michael and his eldest son Prince playing a game of chess when Prince is just 3 years old. Prince picks up the castle and says "Daddy we should have a castle like this one" Michael answers "Yes I know, can we all fit in there ?" Prince pointing to the castle-chess piece "No, see it's too small". Michael: "Yeah, we need a bigger castle". They played the game of chess with the one on display.

3-3258.jpg

The painting has so much to see, on so many levels. There is a lot of symbolism in this painting. There is a crescent moon, a bird, the holy grail, missiles or rockets, an angelic child and some illeligible text. Michael is portrayed as a knight in shining armour, surrounded by red cloth. Could this painting symbolize his passionate mission to represent and protect all children of the world ? What do you think it represents ?

3-3280.jpg

Gorgeous paintings on the wall and how I would have loved for him to have lasting love and happiness, a spouse to have and to hold, to sit in these comfortable chairs and discuss the events of that day and life in general, next to a warm, crackling fire.

4-3293.jpg

The video arcades and miniature cars brought joy to visitors of Neverland, young and old alike, for there you could be childlike again and have simple fun!

4-3311.jpg

He received the horse as a gift from Elizabeth Taylor. On the saddle the initials for M.J., Love E.T. are carved. Notice the painting in the background with the famous figures wearing Michael's signature glasses and single white, sparkly glove.

4-3319.jpg

Mickey Mouse gets a magic touch with the sparkles around him. He loved magic, he created magic on stage and the Disney magic was his favorite kind of magic; innocent escapism.

4-3330.jpg

Ah, Michael liked spacious houses with a lot of land for the privacy they offered him ( why he hated the house in Las Vegas - not enough privacy and peace and quiet) and he just loved castles!! Truly a magnificent castle, this one!

Michael Jackson~In The Back

This is one of my favorite songs on the Ultimate Collection.
You gotta love that beat!

You're just preaching the Bible and they still speakin you're a liar
And you still deal with the fires
That they made...

dah dah dah dah dah
dah dah dah dah dah
dah dah dah dah dah, you
dah dah dah dah dah
dah dah dah dah dah
dah dah dah dah dah

Why you wanna get me?
Dreams don't last forever
Why you wanna fix me?
See, if the police don't take it
God forsake it
I can't take it

Why you stab me in the back?

We're so gonna loose
And she, knows they got this to be
She... I dah dah dah dah dah

dah dah dah dah dah
dah dah dah dah dah
dah dah dah dah dah people
dah dah dah dah dah
dah dah dah dah dah
dah dah dah dah dah

Why you wanna get me?
This dude won't last forever
Why you wanna hit me?
See, if the police don't take it
God forsake it
I'll fell breaking

Why you stab me in the back?

“Thriller” Descends on De la Guerra
Wednesday, October 20, 2010
By Starshine Roshell

My husband doesn’t dance. Doesn’t know how, doesn’t try, and doesn’t even stop to watch dancers unless they are, say, female and nearly naked.

Which is why it was so weird when he ordered an instructional DVD last year and dragged the whole family into the living room one rainy Saturday to learn the five-minute dance made famous in the “Thriller” music video.

Um. We’re going to do what?

Starshine Roshell

Like everyone our age, he’d been dazzled by Michael Jackson’s creepy, campy, and undeniably boogielicious 1983 mini-movie and its dancing undead. After seeing Jennifer Garner and Andy Serkis (Gollum moonwalks?!) bust the routine in 13 Going on 30—and watching 1,500 inmates at a Philippines prison nail it on YouTube—he decided no Gen X-er should be without the skill.

Plus he figured if the whole family could whip it out at parties, maybe we’d get invited places. “We just have to have those spooky, kooky Roshells!”

It turns out the instinct isn’t so weird. Okay, it’s weird, but it’s weirdly common.

For four years, people around the world have gathered annually, and at the same exact time, to set world records for the Largest Simultaneous Dance—while doing the “Thriller” routine.

This year, for the first time, Santa Barbara will join Thrill the World with a free performance at 4 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 23) in De la Guerra Plaza. While dancers do it here, hoofers will stomp out the same steps in Brazil, Germany, Japan, and New South Wales (some countries will dance 12 hours earlier to avoid, well, ghoulish hours of the night).

Led by world-dance instructor Janet Reineck at the Santa Barbara Dance Center, the local group is made up of 80 to 100 amateurs and experienced dancers, 7-year-olds and grandmas, and fans of the late King of Pop.

Michael Gurven has been learning the dance there for a few weeks and has it down cold. He’s a UCSB anthropology professor who does fieldwork in South America.

“It’s always been this half-joke, half-dream of mine to teach ‘Thriller’ to this group of Indians in the Bolivian rainforest,” he says, grinning. He convinced Reineck to come teach the moves—with names like “bootie bounce,” “wuz up,” and “hip ‘n’ roar”—to a dozen of his students on a campus patio last week.

“And reach, air guitar to the right, tick-tock, tick-tock, rock on, rock on,” Reineck instructed, “… and pose! Anything scary. Scary!”

She mainly teaches ethnic dance, but makes an exception for the iconic “Thriller.”

“The choreography is clever and fun, and the moves are very Michael Jackson—we all feel like we’re dancing with him. Plus, on the eve of Halloween, it evokes a mysterious, otherworldly zombie spirit,” she says. But the best part is dancing in sync with the 25,000 people expected to take part worldwide: “It’s like literally being part of a ‘worldbeat.’”

Thrill the World asks participants to raise money for charities of their choice. Reineck’s dancers are donating to Women for Women International, a nonprofit that helps women in war-ravaged areas of the world.

New dancers are invited to join the S.B. Thrill the World event: Master the steps by watching YouTube clips (search “learn Thriller dance”) or show up for Janet’s final tutorial from 9:15-10:30 Saturday morning at 127 West Canon Perdido Street.

Alas, the Roshells won’t be thrilling the world anytime soon. The kids got bored, the coffee table got in the way, and the sequence proved too taxing for our brains—which are crammed to capacity with the maddeningly undeletable lyrics to every song on the Thriller album.

But we’ll be there watching on Saturday. Bootie-bouncing zombies couldn’t keep us away.

I found this song on youtube a couple of weeks ago. It was written in honour of Michael. Whilst it speaks of addiction it asks for understanding and compassion for his pain. Asks us not to judge him because God will be his judge one day. Love him for who he is. I listen to it constantly. I just wanted to share it with you.

God Bless

The Many Parallels of the King of Pop & Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

michael-jackson-3-oopshi-nl.jpg

Mozart.jpg

There have been many an article written on the unique connections between Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley, however; you may be surprised to find out the many similarities between
Michael Jackson and a very unlikely individual, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. You may have seen the Oscar winning film "Amadeus" that is based loosely on Mozart's life. Here I will break down some key points about Mozart, then follow it up with key points of Michael's life and career. This will show you how very much alike they were to one another. At the end of my article I will state a startling conclusion that is strictly my opinion only. You may find it controversial, but when you've read my findings you may agree with it after all.

wolfgang-amadeus-mozart_431x453.jpg

1988_mjbadera_answer_2_xlarge.jpeg

1.) Mozart showed prodigious abilities in music at a very early age. The same can be said with Michael Jackson's vocal and musical abilities.

2.) At the age of five Mozart began performing before European royalty and all over Europe. Michael Jackson made his debut at a talent show in Gary, Indiana and later performed throughout the Midwest and in nearby Chicago night clubs.

3.) Leopold Mozart, his father, became his teacher, mentor, and manager. Joe Jackson became his son's manager, coach, and advisor.

4.) Mozart and his sister, Maria Anna or Nannerl, performed together as child prodigies. MJ and Janet performed together as children on television variety shows with the Jackson 5.

5.) At seventeen Mozart was hired as a court musician to the Prince Archbishop Colloredo in Salzburg, Austria. He composed and performed many of his symphonies, sonatas, serenades, and other musical pieces to a huge following in Salzburg. Michael Jackson debuted as an entertainer at age 10 with the Jackson 5, later to a recording contract with Motown Records in Detroit, and by having a huge legion of fans, selling out concerts, and having hit songs on the pop charts.

520ltlh.jpg

6.) Mozart broke free of his restricting ties in Salzburg to the Prince Archbishop and to his father. He then embarked on being a freelance performer and composer in Vienna, Austria. In 1971
Michael Jackson embarked on a solo career while still a member of the Jackson 5. In 1979 he joined forces with record producer, Quincy Jones, for his first album "Off the Wall".

7.) During Mozart's Vienna years he composed his world famous opera in 1786, "The Marriage of Figaro", which is still performed in opera houses throughout the world. Michael Jackson in 1982 gave the world "Thriller", the best-selling album of all time.

8.) Mozart was a small man, very thin, and pale. MJ was described by many journalists, after his death, who had seen him during the trials and his last rehearsal as a small man, very thin, and pale due to his skin condition, which grew worse in later years.

9.) Mozart's facial complexion was pitted due to getting smallpox as a child. MJ suffered from severe acne during his teen years.

10.) His wife Constanze described Mozart's voice in a letter as rather soft in speaking and delicate in singing. However, when it was necessary to exert his singing voice it was powerful and energetic. Michael Jackson was well-known for his very soft-spoken speaking voice, yet his singing voice was powerful and energetic.

11.) Mozart and Michael Jackson had extremely conflicting feelings about their fathers due to the controlling and manipulative ways early in their careers as well as in childhood.

12.) In the film "Amadeus" Mozart came across as childish, immature, and crude. MJ was a child-like man in later years, highly eccentric, and displayed illicit behavior with his infamous crotch-grabbing moves after the release of his "Bad" album.

13.) In the latter part of their lives each were in deep financial debt.

14.) Mozart was in the midst of composing his famous work, the "Requiem". Michael Jackson was in the process of preparing for his "This is It" 50-city tour before their deaths.

15.) Mozart greatly influenced Beethoven and Tchaikovsky as well as many other classical music composers. MJ greatly influenced Usher and Justin Timberlake, only to name a few, in the world of Pop, R&B, and Hip Hop music.

16.) Mozart was an influential composer of the Classical era. Michael Jackson was an influential all-around entertainer in the modern Popular music era.

Yesterday David Foster's "Foster and Friends" tour stopped in Japan..and they paid tribute to MJ!
Now this was simply amazing!!! But I'll admit THAT CHARICE stole the show..she took me to church again and I actually for a second forgot that she was performing with others! Charice sings with the kinda passion that is rare in many singers today...she brought the house down!! Good stuff ..amazing tribute.. if they come to a country or city near you make sure you go see them.

Michael Jackson and his Fedora

mjdancehat.jpg

A Historical Perspective

A hat has traditionally shielded the wearer from the weather and human aggression. The adoption of a hat conveys a social prestige that alters the impression made on observers. Today’s fedora hat can be worn as an expression of whimsy or as a statement of style. A fedora hat can be removed or put on for stylish dancing, club going, dining, and coffee house appearances.

American fashion for men and women has a place in its heart for the fedora hat. The black fedora hat is a mark of extreme style, drama, raciness, and theatrical style. A black fedora hat can be worn with informal wear in the modern era. Hollywood today might be a place where individuals of every type don a black fedora. The black fedora on men or women can be dressed up or down, and wearing one recalls classic eras gone by.

fedoradance.jpg

Making his Hat Dance

"Michael Jackson" Hats or "Fedora" Hats are the staple of Michael Jacksons visual style. Michael Jackson further popularized the Gangster Style hat mostly with his legendary performance of Billie Jean or his 80's hit Smooth Criminal. Many other celebrities wore and still wear, Fedoras. Bing Crosby, Snoop Dogg, Robert De Niro and Indiana Jones to name a few.

No one wore the Fedora like Michael Jackson, he didn't just wear it.... he made it dance. On rare occasion he would roll the hat over his shoulder, down his arm and into his hand... then back up.

michael-jackson-white-undershirt-and-fedora.jpg

Long before Jason Mraz wears the FEDORA HAT, King of Pop MICHAEL JACKSON has been known for his trademark black fedora as well. No one will ever forget the night MJ performed “Billie Jean” with the BLACK FEDORA and his white glove for the “MOTOWN 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever” Anniversary Special in 1983.

Michael Jackson and his Loafers

MJ-shoes2.jpg

The History of Penny Loafers

The penny loafer is an American classic born more than 70 years ago. The shoes have remained popular throughout the decades because their simple, uncluttered lines make them an ideal accessory for a variety of outfits, from business suits to shorts.

The G.H. Bass shoe company introduced the original version of the shoe in 1936, calling it the Weejun. The name refers to the flat slip-on shoes worn by Norwegian farmers.

Loafers existed before the introduction of the Weejun. In 1933, the Spaulding Leather Company turned out its version of the loafer. Bass, however, was the first company to add the band with its signature opening. In the 1970s, the shoes became an essential part of the Preppy look. Bass introduced a slimmer version of the shoe called the Dover Weejun in 2009.

In the 1940s and 1950s, Weejun wearers started slipping dimes--the price of a pay telephone call--into the shoe pockets. Pennies, the shinier the better, came later as a matter of style.

Penny loafers have inspired numerous imitations in wide price ranges. A leather Prada version is priced at nearly $400, whereas the leather Bass Weejun sells for $125.

The penny loafer got a boost in popularity when famous people such as actor James Dean, President John F. Kennedy and singer Michael Jackson wore them in public.

He used the penny loafer as a reference point, then took us all somewhere else in it as he moonwalked backward across the stage and into our collective consciousness.

"Don't judge a man until you've walked two moons in his Moccasins!"
~ Michael Jackson

Despite having worked with a multitude of celebrities as both a designer and photographer, Salisbury had never worked with Michael Jackson but after seeing him in the movie, The Wiz, he contacted his agent. “I knew his agent and called him to say that Michael Jackson was going to be the biggest star ever and I would be anxious to work on something with him,” said Salisbury. “Michael’s agent called me in to his office and showed me an album cover mock up for his solo album and asked me what I thought. I told him that it looked like a cheap ad for the children’s department at Macy’s. ‘I know,’ he said. ‘It sucks.’ I thought Michael Jackson had the potential to be huge–the biggest, so I suggested he let me develop some ideas.”

Salisbury returned to the agent’s office with several variations of his concept, which only seemed to perplex the agent. “I explained that I was creating a metaphor. I told him that Michael was just a kid out from under his dad so I think the album cover should make a statement that his solo debut is as big as Sinatra coming on stage in Vegas.”

According to Salisbury, at that time, young Michael was gangly and had an Afro. “I explained the concept by pointing to the fashion type drawing and saying, I put him in a tuxedo. That says big deal!”

“The agent hemmed and hawed and was just about to dismiss the whole nutty idea when a little, high-pitched voice softly squeaked, ‘I like it,’ and Michael stepped out from behind the drape covering the large office window. ‘Let’s just do it,’ he said, and so we did,” explained Salisbury.

Jackson liked everything about Salisbury’s concept from the get-go and only requested one change. “‘I want to wear white socks,’ Michael whispered to me. They have to be über socks then…really glamorous,” remembered Salisbury.

The photo shoot was taken at the Griffith Observatory at the Hollywood Planetarium. Salisbury’s wife at the time found an Yves St. Laurent woman’s tux in Beverly Hills that fit Michael. “I also told him to get loafers like Gene Kelly wore in An American in Paris. When we went to shoot the photo, I instructed him, to roll up his pant legs, put his fingers in his pockets and pull his pants up like Gene Kelly–to show off the socks. The loafers really made the white socks work. By the way, the socks were custom-made for Michael by famous Hollywood costume designer Bob Mackie.

“Michael drove up the hill to where we were at in the front of the building, the same location where they shot the knife fight in the movie, Rebel Without a Cause,” Salisbury continued. “He was just 21 and had a new Rolls Royce. It was smashed up a bit and he was driving badly.”

There was no place for Jackson to change and Salisbury and his team were under a time constraint because they had no permit to shoot there. “Fortunately for us, the women’s restroom was open and like a real trouper he ran in there and put on the tux,” Salisbury noted.

After reviewing his first shot for the album cover, Salisbury didn’t think it showed the real Michael. “We were rushed and Michael was just not that into it,” he said. “I thought he was a little too serious. We needed to shoot this differently. I mean, this album cover was just for him, not him and four other brothers. I suggested we re-shoot it and when we did, I directed him to be more animated. I suggested he smile and exaggerate the pulling up of his pants and get into it like he was dancing. He was a great sport and agreed to do the re-shoot. We did the second photo shoot against a wall and voilá! There was our cover for ‘Off the Wall.’”

The white socks were so successful in drawing attention to Michael and his dance moves, there was a conversation about doing gloves, too. “I felt that would start looking literally Mickey Mouse (and of course Michael was a big Mickey Mouse fan). Between the agent and Michael and me, we got it down to one white glitzy glove. Another great move for attention,” Salisbury concluded.

Salisbury created Michael Jackson’s “Off the Wall” debut album cover art in 1979. Today, Salisbury is recognized worldwide as one of the leading talents in American brand design. People see his artwork every day in some of the world’s most recognized corporate branding and product designs for companies such as Volkswagen, Suzuki, Honda, and Hasbro–the biggest toy company in the world.

Moonwalking like it was nothing during a performance of Billie Jean. Simply unforgettable and unique in his style.
