i'm apolitical ...because if i would have to make any sort of politics i would probably be in the extreme right wing because of the situation in my country... but that would come in conflict with me being a fan of michael's. so ...i stay away.

is this because of the problems with gypsies that i have read about in the madonna thread?
not only ...it's because all politicians seem to have only one political orientation : money ...nothing else ...no ideology nothing... they are just wondering how to spend as much money as they can and how to make common ppl work like slaves for nothing...it's the whole picture that drives me mad about my country ... and like i said ...i'd go for some extreme solution for the pb if i wasn't mike's fan ....

I vote based on their content not based on what team they are on.

I look at their voting history and proposals. If the person is claiming they are going to make a change for the better but voting record shows otherwise and their plans show otherwise, that person isn't getting my vote.

If the person has a good economical plan, that is a bonus. Must have good long term solutions.

Independent voter for many years, then turned/re-registered as a Democrat in April 2008 so I could vote in Oregon's Primary for Obama.

I am some what liberal / or lean to the left.

hmm i can see why then...

well i didn't know much about Romania before except I'd heard of some gypsies trying to pick pocket my parents when they were overseas..

but after reading all your explanations of the madonna thread i think romania seems like a rly good country... and you all speak english so well

if only the government had other concerns than money...
thank you for appreciating my country. things are bad here and seems to me they are bad everywhere...our only hope is for the future.

I guess I'm a right winger. Although some of my beliefs aren't held by other right wingers in my country. For example, I don't support marriage as a government institution at all but if we are to have it, it should be indiscriminate (i.e. gays should be allowed to marry). I also support marijuana legalisation which the right (or for that matter, the left) does not. And I'm split on the issue of abortion, whereas the right is pretty much sternly on the pro-life side. But I support the right to gun ownership, private property, low (or no) taxes, minimal government, deregulation, free market capitalism etc. so the majority of my beliefs are right-wing I guess. I consider myself a libertarian-leaning conservative or a right-wing libertarian. Not sure if that makes me far right or right wing in regards to this poll. I went with far right because when you consider how far left the left has gone these days, anyone who still believes in the capitalist system is far right. It's all relative.

i think the only area where MJ would have had a clear political allegiance is the social values more closely tied to religion. Even though he left the JW's the values he learned from them stayed very very strong and i also believe he would have been very anti abortion and that he would support equality for gays and fought discrimination but given the fact that he came from one of the most conservative christian groups around there is no way he would have supported gay marriages (IMO).
I don't know nor do I want to assume what Michael Jackson's political beliefs were. But the other day I was thinking about how Michael Jackson's life is a perfect reinforcement of conservative principles. He had very humble beginnings but because he lived in a free society, he was able to make his family very rich. In a capitalistic society, a poor black kid can grow up to be a very wealthy individual. That's a very basic and important conservative principle. He was also a very charitable person and conservatives believe in the effectiveness and sincerity of charity over government welfare and social programs. So whether or not he was actually conservative (I personally don't care, I don't think it matters) his life story is definitely one that reinforces conservative principles.

i am however strongly in favour of republic (minimalist model) but using the 7 pointed star instead of the aboriginal flag in the top corner (coz i see that as creating two different divisions in our people)
I'm a republican too. I definitely think Australia should become a republic, finally. We should use the constitutional republic model of the United States. As for the flag, it's no big deal to me. Whether we change it or not. Though it would seem strange to keep the Union Jack is we became a republic. But we could just say it's a symbol of our history, a reminder that we were once a commonwealth nation. I don't like the aboriginal flag ensign idea and neither do most people (including and in some cases especially aboriginals). I'm sure we could hold a contest to find the best new design for the flag of the Republic of Australia. That's how we found the design for our current flag.

i mainly put far right coz i absolutely do not believe in global warming (although i support taking care of the environment anyway) .. i dont need some scam to convince me to..
For me it's not a matter of believing or not the global warming theories. I'm not a scientist, I don't know for sure. What I do know is that even if it is a real threat, to the politicians it is a tax issue not an environmental issue. It's an opportunity to increase revenue. I am a strong believer in protecting the environment and resources and that's why I'm a strong supporter of private ownership of land and resources. Because people tend to look after their private property better than the government looks after public property. The government has done a piss poor job of handling resources and protecting the environment.

I'd say I'm a moderate, but I lean slightly to the left of the political chart. I try not to follow party lines when it comes to an election. For instance, I'm a Democrat, but I'm supporting a Republican whose running for city commissioner. Why? Because he's policies are better than the incumbent democrat commissioner, imo. It just depends on the candidate for me, really.

On some issues, like the environment, I hold what would be considered liberal views but on other issues, like family values, I hold what would be considered conservative views.

I'm not questioning the original poster's intent but I would like to make a general comment. Each and everyone of you should read this forum's privacy statement before announcing your political affiliations.

I'm mostly conservative.

I'm socially right-wing conservative and fiscally moderate.

What does that mean? It means I believe in reinforcing family values within society (such as not destroying innocent human life which I'm sure Mike agreed with) and I also believe in maintaining a safety net for those in need.

I don't give a DAMN about politics. I'd rather just be uneducated about it (I'm not though, I know alot).

What has politics done for the world? Nothing. All it's ever done is stir more trouble and create worries. It has no heart. DISGUSTING.
