MJ Cafe at Ponte 16 Grand Opening
Extending the Legend of the ※King of Pop§

Thursday, August 05, 2010
MACAU, Aug. 5, 2010 (PRNewswire-Asia) -- MJ Cafe at Ponte 16, Macau (※the Cafe§), was proud to announce its opening today. As the only Michael Jackson (※MJ§) themed cafe in China, Hong Kong and Macau, it will definitely become another icon of Ponte 16 following the successful opening of the MJ Gallery at Ponte 16 (the ※Gallery§) in February this year. Dr. Ambrose So, Chairman of Ponte 16, Macau, Mr. Sonny Yeung, Chief Executive Officer and Dr. Hoffman Ma, Deputy Chief Executive Officer together with Mr. Hetzer Siu, Chief Executive Officer / National Director of Special Olympics Macau officiated at the Opening Ceremony followed by tasting of coffee and pastries with guests and media.

(Located on the first floor of Ponte 16, the Cafe uses Michael Jackson's favorite red and black colours as the main theme of interior design. To further enhance a striking stage effect, MJ*s giant dancing photos are mounted on the walls and a collection of genuine MJ costumes are displayed at the Cafe. The menu is meticulously crafted, offering a variety of coffee, drinks and hand-made pastries. First class coffee beans are selected from around the world to create different profiles of coffee including ※smoothness§, ※aroma§ and ※rich§. One of the recommendations is ※Hazelnut Latte§ which is formulated with an espresso base, mixing with Hazelnut syrup and topped with smooth and fine milk foam. The Cafe also offers other choices of beverages such as cocktails named after MJ*s records ※Thriller§ and ※Invincible§. The Cafe knows very well the chemistry between a cup of rich coffee and hand-made pastries, and provides a selection of freshly made pastries like lemon tarts, sandwiches, cupcakes, as well as crispy chicken fillet in baskets and seafood in baskets.

※Earlier this year, Ponte 16 has brought to Macau Asia's first MJ-themed gallery, which has been well received by visitors. Now we open the MJ Cafe, adding more flavours to the unique MJ experience at Ponte 16. We believe that the Cafe, together with the Gallery, will attract more MJ fans and visitors to our property, and further increase the influx of people to the historic Inner Harbour District of Macau,§ said Dr. Ambrose So, Chairman of Ponte 16.

In celebration of the opening of the Cafe and to show our continued support to the community, for every consumption of MOP20 at the Cafe, Ponte 16 will donate MOP1 to Special Olympics Macau to assist the needy in society.

Besides, from now until 31 October, customers who purchase a 4-piece set of MJ mini coffee mugs will enjoy a complimentary cup of coffee at the Cafe.

As the only resort situated in Macau*s Inner Harbour, Ponte 16 has endeavoured to provide a diversified travelling experience to visitors from around the world. Further to the opening of the Cafe, Ponte 16 will hold an exhibition of Hollywood legends in late September, followed by Julien*s Auctions* first ever auction in Asia in October. Please stay with us for more details of these exciting events.

Macau is not all about casinos. In fact, casinos and entertainment resorts such as City of Dreams, The Venetian Macao, Ponte 16 and Wynn have a lot of activities you might want to try out. Dining and shopping are a staple at all casinos and entertainment resorts.

Few people know that a lot of Michael Jackson memorabilia found its way to Macau at the MJ Gallery at Ponte 16. Entrance to the gallery is free.

Significant items in the collection are the white rhinestone glove worn by MJ for his moonwalk debut in 1983 as he performed what was known to be one of recent history’s greatest songs Billie Jean, the Zombie suit worn by MJ for Thriller on MTV, a pair of crystal socks made by Bill Whitten and worn by MJ for his Victory Tour in 1984, the RIAA platinum record award for Bad signed by MJ, bearing his handwritten words "Thanx All My Love, 1998. Michael Jackson," and the We Are The World collection, which includes a signed poster by MJ and other musicians, and the 3x Platinum RIAA Award for the LP among many others.

yeh wasn,t that the michael themed cafe in italy, someone here posted a video they found on youtube they played his concerts and everything in there, these pictures are great, thanks for posting, would love for something like this to happen near to where i live,i,d be in there all the time,

i visited the gallery last june and it was a great experience! i wonder where i can post the photo's here on the forum? some of the most interesting parts of the exhibit (aside from of course the authentic memorabilia), was a simulated billie jean street with tiles made of album covers that light up and an MJ "time tunnel" with album eras and giant MJ images. what i found most interesting was the motown 25 glove (it actually leather) and the swarovski socks, and oh yes, an original MJ sketch rendering of charlie chaplin and a vinyl master of dirty diana. We spent 3 hours there, although the gallery is small, but there is alot to see (and watch because of a big video screen), taking pictures, poring over every exhibit piece and just taking the whole experience in. The staff was very accomodating and friendly, assisting us in taking pics and even lending us their fedoras! twas a great experience, and best of all, its free! =)
p.s. the mug is new! i want that too! the mug that was available at the time i was there was a slim type mug with the "number ones" tippy toes image. Another interesting piece of merchandise they sell are limited edition gloves made of the same leather grain as the original

Wow, I wish I could go there some day! And, just like the rest of you, I think the mug looks cool :D
