Paris Hilton was arrested for possession of cocaine after officers stopped the car she was in on a Las Vegas street late Friday night.
Hilton was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on a charge of possession of cocaine, Las Vegas police spokesman Marcus Martin said.
The 29-year-old Hilton was in a car driven by a friend that was stopped when officers noticed what they suspected to be marijuana smoke coming from it, he told The Associated Press.
"Officers noticed a vehicle leaving smoke trail of a contolled substance (and) made a stop based on that," Martin said.
During the stop, officers found what appeared to be a drug on Hilton and later tests showed that it was cocaine, Martin said. He didn't know how much was found.

Crowd gathers

He said Hilton was apparently recognized by passers-by and a crowd quickly gathered in the area where the vehicle had been pulled over.
Police watch commander Lt. Wayne Holman said Hilton was still being held around 2 a.m. Saturday but would probably be freed on her own recognizance later in the morning.
Hilton's manager and a publicist didn't immediately return AP calls for comment.
Police didn't immediately released the name of the man who was driving the car. Martin said he's not sure if he was also arrested.
Hilton was arrested this summer after the Brazil-Netherlands World Cup match in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, on suspicion of possession of marijuana. The case was then dropped at a midnight court hearing.
Hilton pleaded no contest in 2007 to alcohol-related reckless driving and was sentenced to 45 days in jail.
After spending about 23 days in jail, Hilton told U.S. television host Larry King that the experience caused her to re-evaluate the role partying played in her life. She said she wanted "to help raise money for kids and for breast cancer and multiple sclerosis."

Didn't something similar take place during her visit to South Africa for the world cup? And it was just a big misunderstanding + she was being used as a scapegoat?

I'm far from being a fan of Paris Hilton but I do think it's clear that the press are out to get her. She sells. *sigh*
 
I honestly can't believe this lol I am a fan of Paris H. for my personal reasons. Its hard for me, to believe that at 29 years old shes doing cocaine? If this isn't her first time with cocaine possession / use paris would have already been arrested before so its hard for me to think at 29 shes doing coke.
 
well she did and its true.....the problem is with these girls...their parents want to be there friends and not their parents.....this girl has been partying for years....NOONE cares enough to tr and stop her...same with Lyndsy Lohan....they need parents not enablers..

LAS VEGAS -- Paris Hilton was arrested on the Las Vegas Strip late Friday after police saw a cloud of what they suspected was marijuana smoke wafting from the windows of a black Cadillac Escalade driven by her boyfriend, then found a small amount of cocaine in her possession.
A crowd quickly gathered near the stop on Las Vegas Boulevard near the Wynn Las Vegas resort at shortly before midnight Friday, and Hilton was taken into the hotel "to keep her safe" during the initial investigation, police Lt. Wayne Holman said.
The 29-year-old socialite and Las Vegas nightclub mogul Cy Waits were booked into the Clark County jail, police said. Hilton was released early Saturday morning without bail.
Officer Marcus Martin said police found that Hilton had a substance that tests later showed to be cocaine, but he did not say how much of the drug was found. She was arrested on a felony cocaine possession charge.
If convicted of the low-grade felony, Hilton would get probation, but any violation would be punishable by one to four years in jail.
 
She needs to be locked up long term. It sure didn't take her long to get into trouble AGAIN. She is not above the law, and it is flat out ridiculous that she always gets away with it.

Lindsay Lohan too. Both of these girls need some real hard time
 
I swear throwing these women into jail is just a waste of the tax payer's money. :lol:

I've never thought of Lindsay Lohan as a criminal; she has had personal/drug problems, yeah. But that doesn't make her a criminal. :/ (Just my opinion!)
 
Drug possession and driving while drunk is a crime, thus they are criminals and should do time
 
I hope she's not doing drugs. Doesn't she realize the end result of it? She needs someone to minister to her.

Why not!?! I don't think it's any exaggeration to say that most 'socialites and (ahem) it girls do coke. It's still the in drug amongst the rich. She has millions of dollars and it will be in plentiful supply wherever she goes. It's hardly a surprise.
 
Yes, maybe, but just because a lot of rich people do coke doesn't mean I'd expect her to.

Sorry, but I totally don't understand what being 29 has to do with anything. Celebrities, non-celebrities, 18 yrs old or 58 yrs old, it's being used and apparently enjoyed by a broad spectrum of ages, people that "party" or not.

Who knows. But let's not forget that millions of other people do coke, too.

"She had not seen it but now thought it was gum,” said an officer's report.

It turned out the baggie actually contained .8 grams of cocaine, and now Hilton faces felony drug-possession charges with a Oct. 27 arraignment.

While speaking to police following a weekend traffic stop, Hilton denied the baggie belonged to her. In fact, she said, the purse wasn't hers either; she had borrowed it from a friend.

But somehow, according to Hilton, the contents of the purse were split between hers and the friend's.

She claimed ownership of a broken Albuterol pill, Zig Zag wrappers commonly used to smoke marijuana, $1,300 in cash and credit cards. But, "She said several cosmetic items inside the purse were not hers," according to the police report.
