Original Glove from 1983 Motown's 25th Anniversary Sells BIG

Who knows, Ad. Who knows...

Anyways, I'm surprised to see the glove here (which is claimed it is the one he wore in the Motown performance) doesn't look at all what I thought it would.
Though I can't judge the dimensions by looking at a picture online, this one looks like a leather golf or baseball glove studded with stones.
Interesting. :)

Yes, indeed, it is a golf glove and it's made in Korea (it has a label inside that says so). It's big, yes, for sure. ANd the funniest thing for me was to see that it was not white... :) Here's the "official" description of it:

"The glove is completely different from the other gloves Jackson wore during this period. It is made using a cream leather, off-the-rack golf glove with an interior label reading “Made In Korea.” The glove has a Velcro flap on the back of the hand, which allows the wearer to adjust the fit, and a single white snap at the back of the wrist. The glove does not feature the more characteristic hand sewn crystals, but uses instead a mesh web of faceted rhinestones, hand cut to the shape of the glove. These strips of rhinestones have been whip stitched to the back of the glove. There are no rhinestones on the palm of the glove. The most conspicuous discrepancy with the gloves Jackson had been wearing up to this point is that this is a left-handed glove."

UPDATE: Photobucket doesn't show my pics, so if you want them, just send me a PM and I will send you all the pics (the glove, jackets, pillow, lyrics, etc). Sorry for this inconvenience :(

Success Universe Group Limited, announced that its investment project Sofitel Macau at Ponte 16 ("Ponte 16") has successfully bid a white rhinestone glove, which Michael Jackson (MJ) wore it at Motown 25 special performance at US$350,000. Ponte 16 also bid a collection of MJ's memorabilia that represent every important milestone in his career.
The auction was organised by Julien's Auctions, which specialises in entertainment memorabilia and high profile estate auctions, at The Hard Rock Café Times Square New York at 2:00am Hong Kong time on 22 November 2009. The auction attracted many MJ's fans to participate. Among all the items, the white rhinestone glove was the most outstanding piece. Ponte 16 successfully bid the iconic glove at nearly 8 times more than the auctioneer's minimum estimated price at US$350,000 under vigorous competition. MJ wore this glove in 1983 at his Billie Jean performance at the Motown 25 television special where he performed Moonwalk for the first time. The glove is made of cream leather and characterised with hand-sewn rhinestones. The glove is distinctive as it is a left-handed one.
In addition to this unique glove, Ponte 16 also successfully bid a total of 9 other MJ's iconic items including his signed original painting of Charlie Chaplin drawing in 1981, "We Are The World" signed poster, a pair of acrylic tube socks with uppers covered in alternating rows of hand-sewn Swarovski loch rosen designed by world-known costume designer Bill Whitten, "Zombie" shirt worn in "Thriller", RIAA platinum record awarded for "Bad" signed by MJ, a suit from "Men in Black II", MJ signed Motown 25 photograph and two other MJ signed photographs.
Ponte 16 is planning to open a MJ's gallery in the hotel for exhibiting all MJ's iconic items including trendsetter, cultural relics to make Ponte 16 a gathering place in Asia for his fans. These precious items can revitalise MJ's legendary career to all his fans, providing them another place to house MJ memorabilia besides the Neverland Ranch in California. We aim to boost the influx of people to Ponte 16. Being a legendary icon, MJ's fans are throughout every corner of the world hence a foreseeable uptrend business for Ponte 16 is sure to be seen in the near future and for the long run.
Mr Hoffman Ma, Deputy Chairman of Success Universe Group Limited said, "MJ's distinctive musical sound, vocal style and choreography inspired numerous pop, rock, R&B and hip hop artists. He also has great influence on music, charity as well as environmental preservation from different generations all over the world. We aim to create a "Rendezvous" to reminisce this great performer of the 20th century."

Michael had blocked the sale of these items earlier this year, what changed to put such personal items back on sale. I would love to have owned Michael's 1983 Motown 25 glove, but shouldn't these really belong to Prince, Paris and Blanket !

"It was a bargain - we were expecting to pay more," said Hoffman Ma, a Hong Kong hotel executive. "We're going to put it on display in our hotel. It will be free for everyone."

I actually agree.. They will gain muuuch muuch more by putting it out in their hotel..

He actually gifted these things to other people over time - for example he gave his glove to one member of the commodores and that person is selling the item. that's why.

Yes. These are all gifts that people is now selling.... so sweet from them :-(
There was this little letter from MJ to a fan thanking her for her letter and he ASKED HER to send any other letter to his home at Encino!!! Address included. And this is for sale!!!!!!!!!!!

Would you do that????? I just can't think of it!!! But you see... love is not forever :-(
When MJ was in my country, they security picked a girl to go on stage. She KISSED him on the lips for almost 2 minutes!!! We were furious and sooo jelous!! She went to TV shows, was interviewed by the press, etc. All right after the show.

When MJ passed, the media contacted this girl (woman, now) to ask her about the kiss, they wanted to know if she was sad for MJ's passing... and she didn't care that much! It was just a teenager crush for her.

Such is life!! :-(

The BJ one was the best.

So people don't have to visit this crap site :D

The sparkly white glove Michael Jackson wore for his first moonwalk was the star of a rock auction Saturday, fetching an astounding $350,000.
The winning bidder counted himself lucky to be taking home the prize.
"It was a bargain - we were expecting to pay more," said Hoffman Ma, a Hong Kong hotel executive. "We're going to put it on display in our hotel. It will be free for everyone."
Ma traveled to New York just for the auction but some of his staff bid on other items online - to round out their new King of Pop collection, set for display at his Ponte 16 hotel in Macau.
Jackson had given the glove to Walter Orange of the Commodores after his 1983 moonwalk at Motown's 25th anniversary special.
Other Jackson keepsakes included a fang tooth mold used in the "Thriller" video - which fetched $16,000 - and a black fedora the music icon wore to the 1995 MTV music awards - for which a Swiss collector paid $60,000.
"I came because I wanted to be close to him, now that he's not here," said Anita Bailey, 43, of Jamaica, Queens.
"I'm really interested in his outfit for 'Bad.' I want to get just a little piece of Michael to hold on to."
One upper East Side resident, who declined to give his name, came dressed as the late King of Pop for the occasion - complete with his own replica of MJ's iconic white glove.
"I don't have thousands and thousands of dollars. But it's as close as I'll ever get to [the glove]," he said.
"The glove was the main thing ... his career exploded after that."

I'm pretty sure this glove, along with the jacket he wore at the Motown 25th, are going on display at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney next month. Or maybe it's just the jacket... I'm not sure yet... I'll be finding out though...

I was there to see the awesome '80's Are Back' temporary display they have going now and I ran across this (and took pics), which was next to a Bad tour jacket and various other MJ items...

Needless to say.... I'll be going back next month. ;)
