for anyone who has already pre-ordered - did they charge your credit card right away, or will they wait until it is despatched?

They charge it right away to guarantee your purchase.

They don't charge you to gaurantee your purchase. They charge you right away because they are being greedy and want the money now. Plenty of places allow you to preorder items and they don't charge you until it ships. I won't preorder this until the last day because it wrong that they take your money right away.

Well, at least they clearly state that you'll be charged as soon as you place the order and will receive it after december the 7th and before december 25th.
I really don't think it's a question of being gready, sure from a consumer stand point its not "nice", but its not unusual for online shops to charge up on order, the book is halfprice untill september 30th.
I've ordered mine last night.

I do respect your opinion here, but I look at it another way. We're not talking about just any "items" here. We're talking about a 400+ page collector's item that is being offered at half price just for pre-orders. And oh yeah, it's a Michael Jackson book. That does make it just a little bit special. By paying up front, we are guaranteed to get the half off price, and be one of the first to get the book in our hands. I don't have a problem with them having my money early. They aren't the only website that charges up front for pre-orders.

Additionally, if it bugs you, this info from their website might be helpful:
"We can debit your credit card immediately to secure your purchase. Alternatively you can secure a copy by sending your credit/debit card details to orders@michaeljacksonopus.com and we will debit your account once the publication is released on the 7th December."

Although personally, I would never send credit/debit card info in an email. :)

It's alot for a book, but its a book like no other and it's Michael Jackson!!:dancin:

I was tossing up whether to or not to get Visionary, because the only seller I found on ebay kept raising the price. Then, last night, I discovered opus, and within 30 minutes I preordered it. Life is still shit and pointless and fucking meaningless without Michael, maybe this thing will keep me going a bit.

Yes, this is a special book. But there is no reason to take someone's money right away. They could easily give us all the discounted price with a preorder and not charge us until later.

thats how it happens with alot of orders. u buy something and they charge u straight away. it makes them xtra money.personally i havnt bought it im not really a collector. dont see the point of spending huge amounts on something thats of really no physical use to me. look at it a few times then put it away somewhere isnt really worth that sort of money to me

:bugeyed WOW! I didn't know the price would double! Good thing today is payday. Now I will have to go to the casino so I can win the money to put on my debit card so I can order it ASAP! :D

Definitely ordering this when I get paid on 18th - thanks for letting us know the price will double next month.

I've had to spend more than that on medical books before, at least there'll be some enjoyment involved in this.

I have. It's sooo expensive and I felt quite naughty but it's just something that I thought would be special to have. That's it now, I'm not buying anymore Michael stuff for a long time, it's about time I started saving lol.
