Official Celebrity Statements Thread

I want to thank all the people who are keeping this thread updated.
This is extremely sad but at the same time very comforting knowing Michael had influenced so many people worldwide.

Jonathan Morrish: I was honoured to work with him
Saturday, 27 June 2009

I was incredibly fortunate and privileged to work with Michael, well, in fact the Jacksons, when they joined CBS from Motown in 1976, and also to have stayed involved in his career until his last album, Invincible, in 2001.

Quite simply Michael Jackson was the greatest song and dance man of all time and his death is not just a huge and tragic loss but it sadly heralds the end of an era. Michael changed music-making and the music industry. His videos raised the bar to new standards and his tours around the world took music theatre to unprecedented levels of artistic and technical excellence. He leaves behind a body of work that will be listened to by generations to come.
The group's success, and his own solo success, which took off with Off The Wall in 1979, meant that he came to England, a country he genuinely loved, a lot in that time.
As a child star, which is probably the hardest mantle to carry, he was a man whose trust you rightfully had to win. He understood the dynamics of show business – the discipline, the need for perfection, the eye for detail – and he expected that, again rightfully, from the people he worked with.
But he could be mischievously humorous. Once in Germany just before a television show, he insisted that I stand behind the cameraman so that, if he felt so minded, he could call on me to stand in for him. Needless to say after a few minutes he beckoned to me and I dutifully came forward – and this was live television in front of 30 million people – to take my place while he went off! I didn't mind. I think it was his way of having fun and setting challenges.
He had an engaging mind and on our travels around the world and the cities in which he was playing made sure that he visited galleries and saw the sights. Yes, he liked to go out shopping, and of course stores would close for him given the impossibility of the world's most famous man shopping in usual opening hours. But he made it fun for everyone around him and he was incredibly generous.
As he was as a performer, giving everything on stage to the fans who had paid to see him. Give them what they want and like and do it with style, passion, energy and to the highest technical specification.
My thoughts are with his family.

Michael Jackson made us all richer

On a cold windy day in Las Vegas, Feb. 13, 2007, I was invited to perform my magic at a birthday party. With the wind whistling outside, this surreal performance for only 10 people lasted more than an hour in front of a beautiful fireplace at Michael Jackson's home in Las Vegas.

To this day, the familiar voice of Michael Jackson -- along with his three children, Blanket, Paris and Prince -- echo in my mind. Michael applauded, laughed and made wonderful comments after every trick I performed.

I was afforded on this day a rare opportunity to spend the entire afternoon with Michael and his children, to talk about magic and how much we both loved it. He wanted to visit me and see my Houdini collection. I found him to be very open, a complete gentleman, and he was a very happy person.

It was also very clear his children genuinely loved him dearly.

As I was finally leaving, Michael was having cake and opening presents with Prince, the birthday boy. When Michael saw that I was leaving, he ran down the hall to once again shake my hand and ask me to come back and visit so we could talk magic.

I never did. But I feel I got to know a side of Michael Jackson that few people see, the off-stage Michael Jackson at home with his children, laughing and having fun.

I have known Joe Jackson, Rebe, Kate and Tito for some time, and my heart goes out to the entire family.

Entertainers are the most giving of people, and Michael gave everything and made us all richer for his efforts.

The Dixie Dooley one is beautiful...
Michael was always fascinated by the wonder of magic and tricks from the time he was a child. We all know that. He hadn't changed at all...

The Stevie video brought tears to my eyes aswell as teddy riley's. I only cry if I see someone else cry. :(

In memoriam

Michael Jackson Mort!

kopte de Nice Matin vanmorgen in grote zwarte letters op de voorpagina.

De Nederlandse- en Duitse ochtendkranten hadden het ‘nieuws’ hier nog niet.

Michael Jackson was altijd in ons leven.

Van zijn kindsaf aan volgden wij met bewondering

zijn pasjes, liedjes, escapades,

wilde verhalen, zijn wit-worden.

We zagen hem in clips, interviews,

in stadions, rechtszalen

weggedoken onder een hoed,

achter sjaals, bodyguards,

zonnebrillen en mondkap.

Een danser was hij, lichtvoetig als Fred Astaire;

Zie mijn mannetje

in een schitterend goudkleurig Michael Jackson-kostuum

als zesjarig jongetje door de kamer moonwalken,

playbackend met een afwasborstel als microfoon.

Dertig jaar is mijn zoon nu.

Met de dood van Michael Jackson

komen ook sommige dierbare herinneringen weer tot leven.

Zie hem nog wel dansen

met wat dartelende faunen in een hemels

Neverland.

In memoriam

Michael Jackson Mort!
Was the lead of the Nice Matin this morning in big black letters on the front page.
The Dutch and German morning papers didn't have the 'news' yet.
Michael Jackson was always in our lives.
From his childhood on we followed in admiration
his steps, songs, escapades,
wilde stories, his becoming white.
We saw him in videos, interviews,
in stadiums, court rooms
ducked under a hat,
behind scarfs, bodyguards,
sunglasses and face mask.
A dancer he was, light on his feet as Fred Astaire;
a singer he was, The Supremes in one person.
androgenous he seemed, like an antique living Greek kouros statue.
He was long the idol of my youngest son.
'Daddy have you heard: Michael Jackson is dead.
I am very, very upset',
he stammered with choked up voice through the telephone.
Images flash through my head.
See my little man
in a resplendid gold-coloured Michael Jackson outfit
moonwalking through the room as a six-year-old boy,
lip-sinking with a dish-wash-brush as a microphone.
My son is now thrirty.
The death of Michael Jackson
also brings some precious memories back to life.
See him dancing yet
with some frolicking fauns in a heavanly
Neverland.

I just got back from seeing Stevie Wonder and John Legend in concert together. I have some stuff that I will be uploading in the 2000 Watts section very soon...

To say the least, I had to fight very hard to hold back a manly tear.

"Michael Jackson was my generation's most iconic cultural hero. Courageous, unique and incredibly talented. He'll be missed greatly." --Russell Simmons

"I am so saddened by the loss of a great idol and icon, Michael Jackson. He was, to me, the greatest entertainer of all time. He was a huge inspiration for performers across all music genres. He taught us all how to light up the stage. Wow." --'American Idol' judge Randy Jackson

"I'll always remember how he wasn't a man of many words but he didn't have to be because his energy and spirit would totally light up a room. That spirit and his presence will be missed. Rest in peace, Michael." -- Patti LaBelle

"The world has lost one of the most talented people we've all ever known. He was a hero for me as a child and his music helped my career to become known as an adult. He will always live through my turntables. Rest in peace Michael." --DJ AM

"There is no one in the world like MJ," Keys tells Spinner. "Never has been. Never will be. We all know him in one way or another. In some way he has touched us, been the voice of one of our sweetest memories. And what a wonderful, genuine, compassionate, soft-spoken giant so full of love. He gave us love, excitement, one-of-a-kind moments in a mundane world. I can't believe he won't be with us here on earth anymore. But long from now, when we are all dust, he will still never be forgotten. To the best that ever did it! You are loved, admired and respected forever." - Alicia Keys

I remember seeing a video with Alicia Keys saying that Mike had influenced everyone in the music business...unfortunately, I can't find it.

^ Maybe that's on 'The One' DVD?? Or wasn't Alicia one of the speakers? Haven't seen it in a while:)

No, because both the video and the statement were released after Mike's death... ^^)

I love Alicia for saying this.
So many others take the safe road and talk about Michael the artist and entertainer.
But Alicia here is going all out about Michael the person.

Indeed, Alicia is so respectful and of course, exceedingly talented. She was so great in A Secret Life of Bees.

Washington, June 29 : Film producer Kirk Douglas has expressed grief over the death of Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett, and also said that it reminded him of his son Eric who died at the age of 46.

Douglas wrote on his MySpace blog, "This has been a sad week. We don''t like to think about it, but we all know that someday we will die. But, when someone dies young it makes us think about the preciousness of life," Contactmusic reports.
Kirk who acted alongside Fawcett in 1980 sci-fi movie Saturn 3 wrote: "I did a movie with Farrah Fawcett in London. What a beautiful girl with a great sense of humor."
He remembered the pop legend, stating: "Michael Jackson gave millions of people all over the world enjoyment. Yes, he had his problems. It''s sad to think of such a great talent extinguished when his light was burning so brightly."
He further added: "It makes me think of the people in my profession that have died too young: Steve MCQueen, Natalie Wood, Marilyn Monroe. I know the pain of personal tragedy, my son Eric died at 46. When I visit his grave every week I see fresh flowers at the gravesite of Marilyn Monroe.
"While we mourn for the deaths of young people like Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett, let us think about how precious life is and resolve to make it worthwhile." (ANI)

Santonio Holmes:

On Thursday afternoon, Michael Jackson passed away suddenly at the age of 50. To say the King of Pop was a controversial figure in recent years is an understatement but nobody will argue the fact he is one of the most iconic people of the 20th century. Whether you enjoyed his music or not, I doubt there’s anybody whose never heard of him or some of his songs. Even though my musical tastes went in a different direction once I became a teenager and heard Nirvana for the first time, I am still a child of the 80’s so I’ll deeply miss one of the legendary figures from my youth. Truth be told, there was once a time when I tried to glue sparkles to my batting glove so I could emulate *****.
Evidently I’m not the only one who will miss Michael Jackson. Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver and Super Bowl XLIII MVP Santonio Holmes posted the above video blog on his official website.
However, Santonio is going one step further. He’s sponsoring a contest asking people to submit a short video of themselves emulating the King of Pop. His favorite will win two tickets to an upcoming Steeler game. Considering Tone’s place on the team, I’d imagine his seats are pretty good.
So get out your batting gloves, Elmer’s glue, and buy a bag of sparklies. You have until July 10th to submit your video to Santonio. And don’t forget to bust out a moonwalk. Actually, if you’ve never tried to moonwalk on a wooden floor in your socks then you owe it to yourself to try it just one time. Do it for Michael.

I don't know if many people on here know the group Shinedown. They are in the charts with "Second chance" at the moment.
I've seen them live twice and also met them once. They are really nice guys!

Here is their statement:

Shinedown releases statement on Michael Jackson

. . . Sitting in a dressing room in Calgary Canada I am more saddened than I can remember in maybe the last 5 years

Call they guy whatever you want. . judge his actions, judge his judgments, and judge the man any way in any language you want

But. Michael Jackson was the best

There was no one better

There never will be anyone better. . People don’t try anymore. .
You can take any pretty loser who can’t sing who has a good smile and sells records and make him a star

Just look at ANYONE on the charts today

Today we lost a part of music history, a legend, and the greatest pop music artist there ever will be.

The things Michael created on “Thriller”, “Off the Wall”, and “Bad” will never be matched.

By anyone ever.

Michael Jackson was the best.
People believed in Michael Jackson who didn’t believe in Jesus

And that my friends is a legend.

God Bless Michael Jacksons music , his soul , and his legend .

That can never be replaced.

Rest in Peace Sir

God bless your soul.

Zach Myers & Shinedown

What about the Maculay Culkin's statement?
He might be too devasted to talk about this, after all he was very close to Michael. By the way, has anyone seen Akon's statement? Or Chris Tucker's?
Damn this it is so sad, I still hope it's just a bad, sick dream.
