CORBLEU TELLS ABOUT MEETING MICHAEL
Corbin Bleu (Corbin Bleu Reivers), an US actor known for his roles in the 'High School Musical' series, appeared on the US tv show 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' and spoke about what it was like meeting Michael Jackson.
Jimmy Kimmel: When you were a kid did you have somebody that you idolized?? In the way that these kids go crazy for you and your coworkers.
Corbin Bleu: Yes. Michael Jackson! My mom is a huge eighties fan. And I pretty much grew up listening to Michael in the womb. She would pretty much put the headphones on.
I actually got the opportunity to meet him, once!
JK: Where did you meet him?
Corbin Bleu: Kenny Ortega, director of High School Musical, has done Michael's tour numerous times. He has worked on music videos.
He actually came to the 'High School Musical' concert in Los Angeles.
JK: Michael Jackson???
Corbin Bleu: Michael Jackson came to the 'High School Musical' concert. With his kids. His kids are huge fans.
And... he actually came to the backstage. And you know... of course all these huge bodyguards come in and they check the surrounding and make sure there's no cameras.
And then Michael walks in! He has got these big shades on. And, I mean - he is so cool. He is a guy... that's first of all. He is a dude... Most people - if you see him - a lot of people think of him as you know.... more of a frail kind of person. Dude walks in... he is a big guy... he has got a strong handshake.
JK: Really???
Corbin Bleu: Yeah. He is very much of a... you know, he is a dude.
The crazy part was that afterwards, we had to do the show...knowing that he is sitting right there. And we could see him. And my bit in the show is almost an entire homage to him. I mean, between the outfit I pop up on the stage... a lot of the moves. I am sitting up here going: "Michael Jackson's watching me dance right now!" I mean, it was just one of the most surreal moments of my life. But I grew up being so inspired by him, and loving him. I love his work.

MICHAEL ISSUES STATEMENT ON J5 TOUR
Michael Jackson has issued a statement saying he will not participate in a Jackson 5 reunion in 2009.
"My brothers and sisters have my full love and support, and we’ve certainly shared many great experiences, but at this time I have no plans to record or tour with them.
I am now in the studio developing new and exciting projects that I look forward to sharing with my fans in concert soon."
The statement comes in response to his brother Jermaine Jackson's recent comments at a TV industry function in Sydney (Australia) this week, where the musician said the Jackson 5 has plans to reunite next year. Jermaine Jackson was in Australia to help launch a new "greatest hits" TV channel for Foxtel.

‘THRILL THE WORLD’ AT SALEM
Cindy Taplin and Mary Donaledson, 66 and friends since they were children, went along to Salem State College gym on Saturday afternoon (25th October 2008) to join 128 other people. Why? To help set the Guiness world record for the most people dancing the zombie dance from Michael Jackson’s music video ‘Thriller’ at the same time.
The event which had Zombies coming from as far away as Miami and Sacramento was part of the International ‘Thrill the World’ campaign. Young and old came dressed in all kinds of goryness with a few adding their own variations such as pirates, Minnie Mouse and hippies. Just before 2 p.m. the dancers assumed their positions, sprawled dead-like on the floor, slowly coming to life with the beat of the music, as fog emerged from a steam machine and they got to grips with their inner Michael Jackson. At the end of the dance, everyone cheered.
Talking about ‘Thriller’ Jamie Saltmarsh (46) said:
"I absolutely loved that thing from the minute I saw it.
It's like fulfilling a dream to be able to learn the moves and to do it. It was very, very cool."
The director of the college's performing arts center , Kathleen McDonald Murphy, said the event will absolutely be annual. They may try and use Salem Common next year.

MJ COMMENTS ON THRILLER DANCE EVENT IN NY
As we reported earlier, a special Thriller Dance Event took place on 30th October 2008 at Madame Tussauds New York (USA) to break the Guinness World Record for the most people doing the Thriller dance at the same time. This was also an early celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Michael Jackson video (which debuted on MTV in December 1983).
In a statement to PEOPLE magazine, Michael Jackson commented on the event:
"I always thought Halloween and 'Thriller' fit each other like a glove."

‘MAN IN THE MIRROR’ RE-ENTERS UK CHARTS
Diana Vickers’ (17) performance of 'Man In the Mirror' on the UK talent show X Factor (October 18, 2008) has seen the original song from the BAD album (1987) back into the charts. The original was released as a single in 1988 - three years before Diana was born.
The Westholme School pupil’s barefoot performance has led to a flurry of downloads on internet music sites and 'Man In The Mirror' has re-charted at 55 as a result.
Diana’s mother Ann, who works at Marks and Spencers, said:
“It’s fantastic news.
Diana is a Michael Jackson fan definitely, and I love all of his records.
I enjoyed her singing her own version of the song, I thought it was great.
She loves the Beatles as well as Michael Jackson.”

THRILL THE WORLD IN LA
Of course LA (USA) was also part of 'Thrill The World'. Dressed as zombies, thousands of amateur dancers took over neighborhood parks, community centers and shopping malls in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the largest worldwide simultaneous performance of the dance sequence from Michael Jackson's "Thriller" music video.
The final numbers are still being tallied, but according to event organizer Ines Markeljevic, 4,179 people in 72 cities across 10 nations participated, easily breaking last year's record of 1,722 participants.
In Los Angeles, 114 people showed up at the Hollywood & Highland complex in full zombie garb. Led by dancer Adam Sevani, they followed the dance moves in the legendary music video. Meanwhile in Austin 881 dancers, including the city's mayor Will Wynn, took part in the worldwide event.
Markeljevic isn't resting on her laurels.
"My goal is a quarter million next year. I think that's completely possible. I'm going to focus on contacting every single school in North America so we can reach that number."
Los Angeles co-organizer Mahdroo McCaleb says he's been contacted by Michael Jackson's people who have requested a personal DVD for the pop star. And there even were rumors that Jackson may have been hovering over the event on Saturday (25th October 2008):
"We had a helicopter fly overhead shooting video of us," McCaleb says. "No one's claimed the helicopter and the footage hasn't appeared anywhere. We thought it might be Michael Jackson. Who else can afford a helicopter?"
Whether or not Michael Jackson was there in body, his spirit infused the event.
"I don't know how it all came together," McCaleb says, "but when we were out there doing the dance it just felt electric. We were spot on. It was everything I'd hoped it would be."

EFRON LEFT SPEECHLESS BY JACKSON
Actor Zac Efron ('High School Musical') was overwhelmed to find out Michael Jackson is a fan of his work - and was left "speechless" when the entertainer called to congratulate him on his success.
Michael Jackson is a close friend of the films' director Kenny Ortega. Efron admits he was delighted when Ortega handed him his cellphone and told him that Michael Jackson was on the line for him:
"I've been wanting to talk to Michael Jackson my whole life, but as soon as Kenny handed me the phone, I was at a loss for words. I have never been so speechless.
He said he loves High School Musical. It was motivation for us, and encouragement."
