Now would be the right time to release Moonwalker in the USA!

They removed the part where Michael says "Do it and you're dead."

LOL. To be honest it's nothing more offensive than children cartoons. This is clearly hilarious to me. I wonder why it was censored.

I think a lot of film critics gave it bad reviews or something, and maybe they didn't want to take the gamble doing a full U.S. theatrical release.

I think it was censored because of the heroin references. Been a while since I watched the blu ray, but I believe they cut out the part were Pesci was about to inject the girl with the syringe.

It was censored because of obvious reasons. Remember the blu ray was released 2010.

If you are saying what I think you are saying, then no I don't believe so.

The movie part of the film (excluding Smooth Criminal) as an adult seems a lot weirder.

I mean, in the universe of the movie, Michael Jackson plays a pop star/robot/car/alien thing who dances with ghost gangsters, and hangs out with 3 orphan kids who apparently don't have a family/place of their own, and live on the streets (?), but also hang out with the millionaire MJ...or something...
If they do have parents or some adult watching them, why is no one concerned for their well being. Unless MJ is their father of sorts.
And why are these kids out late at night watching him get shot up and are so bla about him being a robot car thingy that dances with ghost gangsters.

Yes, I'm totally overthinking it :D

Actually to add to that, I think the same part was edited out on the European DVD release way back whenever that came out.

Now that you say it, the story is really weird!

That's the magical imagination of MJ at his best..weird? maybe but hell how it made my childhood amazing and mesmerizing. I love Moonwalker.

I love that line "do it and your dead" the way he says dead... :) But I will have to admit when I watch moonwalker now around children I do feel a bit uncomfortable with the drug refrenses in the film.. I never really gave it much thought until I hung around my girlfriends little sisters.. That made me really pay closer attention to what is going on in that film..

Then again now days pg movies now show what pg13 movies did back 15yrs ago, pg13 are basically R movies, and R movies try to sneak in some x rated things that are just wrong sometimes.. I am not prude my any stretch of the word but when you are showing adult genatles in movies, thats too far in my opinion..

OK I have gone off topic, so I guess I can bring it back by saying that the film does fit into what is allowed in pg films now.. If i think its right thats another story but who am I to say what is right or wrong for kids to see I guess. I can only speak about my own (which i don't have yet)

PS. If I stumble on this msg years from now when I have kids it will be crazy to look back at this lol!! So I will toss out a shot out to my future kids and my babygirl Lucy. chuuuuu!

I heard that "Who Is It", "Give In To Me" banned in US. Is this right?

I don't understand what is problem with Michael? Check other videos; %80 porn, % 20 music...

Why? It's not showing drugs in a positive way.

Anyone have this;

They didnt only get make changes to the Smooth Criminal segment theres a shot from MITM on the VHS thats missing from the DVD & Bluray during the multiscreens after the background singers sing "Make That Change" theres the break before "Man In The Mirror" in that break the focus is on Michael's ass as he walks away.

I think Who Was It was, not Give In To Me.

I didn't find about the WIT thing tho til I was an adult, which is so weird.
There's absolutely nothing controversial in that video whatsoever.
So it's weird that they replaced the video with one of those montage videos of his other videos.

It's about as weird as when MTV banned Madonnas WHAT IT FEELS LIKE FOR A GIRL video. Not as tame as WHO IS IT, but it was no worse than any of the other videos at the time.

MTV and U.S. media is/was just so weird and hypocritical on what's offensive.

Like Janets boob that was seen by no one. That stuff was zoomed out, so no one saw a good shot of it til the morning after in papers.

We Americans can be such prudes. Good grief...

:D geee how come I don't remember that part

*goes to see Moonwalker for the 1000000000000000th time*

Whoever censored that part must have caught his girlfriend drooling over Michael's sexy ass...

I found the original version on youtube.

At 3:17, you can see Michael's sexy ass.

And here's the censored version, at 3:49.

And here's another thing... Overall I don't really mind the new aspect ratio, I think it's nice that the picture fills the screen. But during Come Together, it's really annoying, because it cuts out part of Michael's naked chest. I wish there was a way they could release it with an option to choose the aspect ratio. Cause the whole movie is great in widescreen, but this part in particular needs to be watched in 4:3!

I don't think Who Is It was banned. It was directed by David Fincher and was released in the summer of 1992 in Europe along with the video, but not yet in the States. When Michael performed it on Oprah in February 1993, there was a demand for the song in the States but they did not release it with the original video, but with some montage of Michael's old performances. I think the reason is that between the summer of 1992 and February 1993 Fincher went on to work with Madonna and he made the Bad Girl video for her, which is pretty similar to WII in its mood and atmosphere. I think Michael simply did not want people to think he copied Madonna (in actuality, the WII video was made before Bad Girl, but since the WII video would have come out after Bad Girl, people could have thought so).

Nevertheless I agree with you on the hypocrisy of US media. But Black or White - Panther Dance, TDCAU are perhaps better examples of that.
