Hey can you explain what the difference was with the stage on different legs of the tour?
When I look at MITM from the live Blu-Ray version all the stages look really big but then some stages including LA look smaller. Can you explain? thanks!!#next_pages_container { width: 5px; hight: 5px; position: absolute; top: -100px; left: -100px; z-index: 2147483647 !important; }

US stage has crowds on the side of the stage and also the US stage is pretty low so you can see some heads in the crowd just below his feets
 
Hmm is it just me or the audio in TV spot appears to have crowd noise added? I really wouldn't like if there's any additional crowd noise in the DVD :/
 
Just got a message from one of the fans in France that attended the Paris premiere of Spike Lee's documentary. She told me that the "Man in the Mirror" performance (allegedly from) Wembley did not look good but it was really difficult to judge the quality as they were watching it on a big cinema screen. I think they also don't know if the footage is before or after the restoration. Some of them - not experts- believe it might be before any restoration because of the black color - it didn't look sharp.

The restoration IS good.
 
As I said I think the French fans aren't sure if what they saw was after the restoration. He says " if there was a restoration work". I heard from another person blacks didn't look sharp - making them think there was no restoration. Plus they are watching it on a big cinema screen which is what around 900 inches or so? It's bound to look a lot worse than a normal TV screen. The person I talked - who was not overly negative- said she is not able to do a fair judging of the quality due to screen size.
 
We'll see. I hope and believe we might see some more footage in this upcoming week.
 
Also we need to look to the timeline

Spike Lee finished the documentary on July 4th. On July 16th he showed parts of it at NY Apple Store. Joe Vogel said finishing touches were being done on July 21.

Estate had a showing of Wembley DVD on August 13th to the band members. That's a month later Spike finished his documentary.

It's possible that Spike Lee used a pre-restoration version on his documentary.

Like ivy said, this is more than likely a pre-restoration version. Not to mention the fact that it's being broadcast on a cinema screen. Let's keep our hopes up.

I don't think its an accident that Spike mentioned that the Documentary was premiering on the same day of its release at the Venice Film Festival, I think we should wait until the 14th for a review from fans

Some of those clips are used in Another Part of Me music video but in better quality. So all clips in that video are film footage from the tour.

When the person I was quoting said "maybe they are waiting for the 30th anniversary", I believe he was talking about the 30th anniversary of Bad. I was not saying this in reference to the 30th anniversary show, that is definitely widely available in amazing quality.

Yes. the US concerts were in small arenas (closed) with max 20k people. EU concerts were in stadiums.

I'm bit confused, are people relaying/judging the concert quality on what can be seen on Spike Lee's document?
 
Well, I'm still waiting for the DVD, so I can see for myself. Me personally, I don't care about the quality, all I care is that I'm ready to see Michael in action during the Bad Tour for the first time. So, it's the 2nd here in the US, so we've got a little over two weeks now.
 
so the trailer doesn't have any footage of the DVD :/ the quality will be worse then that. why didn't they just release L.A Umatic and live Wembley CD? :/

Somehow, all these years later, seemingly the only copy of this concert that exists is MJs personal VHS copy. I mean... cameras obviously captured the thing in far better quality. Hmmmmm. I forgot about MSG,Dirty Diana. I wish we had Wembley in the quality of MSG Dirty D or LA. That is amazing quality! Now we have to get this crappy VHS. The video looked terrible,they are using a bad picture. I don't know what their "NASA stuff" can do,but it better do a good job,I'm not impressed with the clips on YouTube that I have seen,then again we can't rely on those because they are compressed YouTube videos and we don't know if that is after the restoration! All I want to see is a real screen shot of after the restoration! Human Nature is supposed to come on the MJ Vevo,I don't know when,but maybe this week. Hopefully can judge off of that and hopefully it will be in at least HD and restored. If it's HD there will be less compression and sorta what the official quality should be.

Ignore the haters and whiners about the video quality. I never thought I would get to see this. Even stopped watching those amateur videos on Youtube years ago because it depressed me that those ghostly, faded, video from the crowd were all I was ever going to get... now I get to see the whole thing, and I feel like the luckiest SOB in the world for it.

Be thankful the video was discovered at all. This could've been lost forever.
 
I think its safe to say that the trailor is pretty much what the final quality will look like, just a little less. Because of the compression the DVD version will look a little better. Personally i can't see what all the fuss is about, im more then happy with the way the quality looks :)
