People often forget that they didn't know Michael and their presumptuous assertions about who Michael would and would not associate with are meaningless unless stated by MJ himself.

Yes he beat up Rihanna and yes thats very wrong, but that doesn't take away from this great performance. And i hope Chris has learned from him big mistake.

Chris Brown, I salute you. You may have made bad mistakes in the past, but that was an absolutely amazing tribute. Michael Jackson would be very proud

I'm pretty sure Michael would NOT associate himself with woman abusers. Besides, this wouldn't be the first time that Michael has distanced himself from people with unacceptable or even criminal behavior. He caught Freddie Mercury doing drugs when they were recording songs together back in the 80s, and canceled the projects.

I don't think anyone thinks that MJ would associate with Chris Brown for the sole reason of Chris Brown having abused a woman LOL. Maybe he would still be on good terms with CB and maybe he wouldn't. I don't know and neither do you. Another person could easily make the argument that MJ was the sort of man who'd want to help a troubled young person who looks up to him. You're putting words into a dead man's mouth, and worst of all one that you probably never even spoke to. It's fine if you want to talk about how you feel about Chris Brown but leave Michael's opinion out of it, because you don't know what it was.

At least I backed my argument with an example of how MJ would react to the behavior of people around him. If you want me to believe otherwise please provide a counter-example of instances where Michael knowingly got involved with bad people. Because that would be incompatible with the perfectionist image we all know him for.

Yeah, you don't get it. At all. I'm not saying Michael was on good terms with Chris Brown prior to his death. I'm saying you don't know if he was and neither does anybody else on the forum I bet, and it is presumptuous and self-serving on your part to tell anybody what MJ would think. You obviously have a problem with Chris Brown so therefore Michael needs to have one too. Your example doesn't prove dick, unless you're saying that Michael would have never taken an action in his life that was contradictory to something he had done in the past, which would make him a robot. Everyone has done or said something that contradicts something they did or said before.

......... you need proof that Michael Jackson probably did stuff in the course of his life that contradicted something he did before? Isn't the fact that he was a human being proof of that...?

Interesting..I think it was maybe half n half..Def a mj tribute as it was close to anniversary and he didn't do a tribute last time..But it was also a ' please forgive me ' performance

Uh MJ associated with James Brown and he was a known woman beater. Or at least he still revered his work. If MJ would only associate with those in the industry who were faultless, he would not be able to work with anyone. We all make mistakes. I think to a huge extent, MJ was able to separate personal from professional.

Wow, that was a great, great tribute! The end definitely had me crying....now THAT'S a performance, when you can see/feel/hear PURE emotion like that....He learned that well from Michael!

Well Michael still partially stood by Joe who abuses children. He still stood by James Brown who beat his ladies. He still sung R Kelly songs after he was arraigned. Michael thinks OJ was just set up. Jermaine on TMZ when asked about Tiger said "but he didn't do anything" lol so Michael is not the most judgmental person. It is against his former religion to judge, control, vote, etc.

About the drug thing you are right. Michael kicked Slash out of recording for smoking and drinking as I recall.

I was saying that Michael wouldn't be friends with somebody just because they're a woman abuser in response to darmin saying MJ wouldn't associate with a woman abuser. If he liked other things about the individual, though, then who is anyone to say Michael wouldn't have remained on decent terms with them?

Me too, but the event is about remembering Michael and not the performance.

Now, I hope that he can finally hang up the Michael clothes and do his own thing now. He always seems to dress up and do Michael songs and it just seems tacky. Last night is a free pass though.
